Exodus 14:10-22

Exodus Chapter 14

10When Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them; and they were very afraid. The children of Israel cried out to ForeverOne.

11They said to Moses, "Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you treated us this way, to bring us forth out of Egypt?

12Isn't this the word that we spoke to you in Egypt, saying, 'Leave us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians?' For it were better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness." 13Moses said to the people, "Don't be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of ForeverOne, which he will work for you today: for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall never see them again.

14ForeverOne will fight for you, and you shall be still." 15ForeverOne said to Moses, "Why do you cry to me? Speak to the children of Israel, that they go forward.

16Lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go into the midst of the sea on dry ground.

17I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall go in after them: and I will get myself honor over Pharaoh, and over all his armies, over his chariots, and over his horsemen.

18The Egyptians shall know that I am ForeverOne, when I have gotten myself honor over Pharaoh, over his chariots, and over his horsemen." 19The angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud moved from before them, and stood behind them.

20It came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel; and there was the cloud and the darkness, yet gave it light by night: and the one didn't come near the other all the night.

21Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and ForeverOne caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all the night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

22The children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left.

1 Kings 3

1 Kings Chapter 3

1Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of ForeverOne, and the wall of Jerusalem all around.

2Only the people sacrificed in the high places, because there was no house built for the name of ForeverOne until those days.

3Solomon loved ForeverOne, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burned incense in the high places.

4The king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer on that altar.

5In Gibeon ForeverOne appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, "Ask what I shall give you." 6Solomon said, "You have shown to your servant David my father great loving kindness, according as he walked before you in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with you. You have kept for him this great loving kindness, that you have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

7Now, ForeverOne my God, you have made your servant king instead of David my father. I am but a little child. I don't know how to go out or come in.

8Your servant is in the midst of your people which you have chosen, a great people, that can't be numbered nor counted for multitude.

9Give your servant therefore an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this your great people?" 10The speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.

11God said to him, "Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life, neither have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice; 12behold, I have done according to your word. Behold, I have given you a wise and an understanding heart; so that there has been none like you before you, neither after you shall any arise like you.

13I have also given you that which you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there shall not be any among the kings like you, all your days.

14If you will walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days." 15Solomon awoke; and behold, it was a dream. Then he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of ForeverOne, and offered up burnt offerings, offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.

16Then two women who were prostitutes came to the king, and stood before him.

17The one woman said, "Oh, my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house. I delivered a child with her in the house.

18It happened the third day after I delivered, that this woman delivered also. We were together. There was no stranger with us in the house, just us two in the house.

19This woman's child died in the night, because she lay on it.

20She arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while your handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.

21When I rose in the morning to nurse my child, behold, it was dead; but when I had looked at it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, whom I bore." 22The other woman said, "No; but the living is my son, and the dead is your son." This said, "No; but the dead is your son, and the living is my son." Thus they spoke before the king.

23Then the king said, "The one says, 'This is my son who lives, and your son is the dead;' and the other says, 'No; but your son is the dead one, and my son is the living one.'" 24The king said, "Get me a sword." They brought a sword before the king.

25The king said, "Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other." 26Then the woman whose the living child was spoke to the king, for her heart yearned over her son, and she said, "Oh, my lord, give her the living child, and in no way kill it!" But the other said, "It shall be neither mine nor yours. Divide it." 27Then the king answered, "Give her the living child, and in no way kill it. She is its mother." 28All Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do justice.

Ezra 8:15-30

16 verses

Ezra Chapter 8

15I gathered them together to the river that runs to Ahava; and there we encamped three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi.

16Then sent I for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, who were teachers.

17I sent them forth to Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia; and I told them what they should tell Iddo, [and] his brothers the Nethinim, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring to us ministers for the house of our God.

18According to the good hand of our God on us they brought us a man of discretion, of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel; and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brothers, eighteen; 19and Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brothers and their sons, twenty; 20and of the Nethinim, whom David and the princes had given for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinim: all of them were mentioned by name.

21Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek of him a straight way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.

22For I was ashamed to ask of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way, because we had spoken to the king, saying, "The hand of our God is on all those who seek him, for good; but his power and his wrath is against all those who forsake him." 23So we fasted and begged our God for this: and he was entreated of us.

24Then I set apart twelve of the chiefs of the priests, even Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brothers with them, 25and weighed to them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering for the house of our God, which the king, and his counselors, and his princes, and all Israel there present, had offered: 26I weighed into their hand six hundred fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels one hundred talents; of gold one hundred talents; 27and twenty bowls of gold, of one thousand darics; and two vessels of fine bright brass, precious as gold.

28I said to them, "You are holy to ForeverOne, and the vessels are holy; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering to ForeverOne, the God of your fathers.

29Watch, and keep them, until you weigh them before the chiefs of the priests and the Levites, and the princes of the fathers' [houses] of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the rooms of the house of ForeverOne." 30So the priests and the Levites received the weight of the silver and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem to the house of our God.

Luke 16:1-18

Luke Chapter 16

1He also said to his disciples, "There was a certain rich man who had a manager. An accusation was made to him that this man was wasting his possessions.

2He called him, and said to him, 'What is this that I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.' 3"The manager said within himself, 'What will I do, seeing that my master is taking away the management position from me? I don't have strength to dig. I am ashamed to beg.

4I know what I will do, so that when I am removed from management, they may receive me into their houses.' 5Calling each one of his master's debtors to him, he said to the first, 'How much do you owe to my master?' 6He said, 'A hundred batos of oil.' He said to him, 'Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.' 7Then he said to another, 'How much do you owe?' He said, 'A hundred cors of wheat.' He said to him, 'Take your bill, and write eighty.' 8"His master commended the dishonest manager because he had done wisely, for the children of this world are, in their own generation, wiser than the children of the light.

9I tell you, make for yourselves friends by means of unrighteous mammon, so that when you fail, they may receive you into the eternal tents.

10He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much. He who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.

11So if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

12If you have not been faithful in that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own?

13No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. You aren't able to serve God and Mammon." 14The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they scoffed at him.

15He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

16The law and the prophets were until John. From that time the Good News of God's Kingdom is preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.

17But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tiny stroke of a pen in the law to fall.

18Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery. He who marries one who is divorced from a husband commits adultery.
