Genesis 35:1-15

Genesis Chapter 35

1God said to Jacob, "Arise, go up to Bethel, and live there. Make there an altar to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother." 2Then Jacob said to his household, and to all who were with him, "Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, change your garments.

3Let us arise, and go up to Bethel. I will make there an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went." 4They gave to Jacob all the foreign gods which were in their hands, and the rings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.

5They traveled, and a terror of God was on the cities that were around them, and they didn't pursue the sons of Jacob.

6So Jacob came to Luz (that is, Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people who were with him.

7He built an altar there, and called the place El Beth El; because there God was revealed to him, when he fled from the face of his brother.

8Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, died, and she was buried below Bethel under the oak; and its name was called Allon Bacuth.

9God appeared to Jacob again, when he came from Paddan Aram, and blessed him.

10God said to him, "Your name is Jacob. Your name shall not be Jacob any more, but your name will be Israel." He named him Israel.

11God said to him, "I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations will be from you, and kings will come out of your body.

12The land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give it to you, and to your seed after you will I give the land." 13God went up from him in the place where he spoke with him.

14Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he spoke with him, a pillar of stone. He poured out a drink offering on it, and poured oil on it.

15Jacob called the name of the place where God spoke with him "Bethel."

1 Samuel 9:25-10:24

1 Samuel Chapter 9

25When they had come down from the high place into the city, he talked with Saul on the housetop.

26They arose early: and it happened about the spring of the day, that Samuel called to Saul on the housetop, saying, "Get up, that I may send you away." Saul arose, and they went out both of them, he and Samuel, abroad.

27As they were going down at the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, "Tell the servant pass on before us" (and he passed on), "but stand still first, that I may cause you to hear the word of God."

1 Samuel Chapter 10

1Then Samuel took the vial of oil, and poured it on his head, and kissed him, and said, "Hasn't ForeverOne anointed you to be prince over his inheritance?

2When you have departed from me today, then you shall find two men by Rachel's tomb, in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will tell you, 'The donkeys which you went to seek have been found; and behold, your father has stopped caring about the donkeys, and is anxious for you, saying, "What shall I do for my son?"' 3"Then you shall go on forward from there, and you shall come to the oak of Tabor; and three men shall meet you there going up to God to Bethel, one carrying three young goats, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine: 4and they will greet you, and give you two loaves of bread, which you shall receive of their hand.

5"After that you shall come to the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall happen, when you have come there to the city, that you shall meet a band of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery, and a tambourine, and a pipe, and a harp, before them; and they will be prophesying: 6and the Spirit of ForeverOne will come mightily on you, and you shall prophesy with them, and shall be turned into another man.

7Let it be, when these signs have come to you, that you do as occasion shall serve you; for God is with you.

8"You shall go down before me to Gilgal; and behold, I will come down to you, to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings: you shall wait seven days, until I come to you, and show you what you shall do." 9It was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs happened that day.

10When they came there to the hill, behold, a band of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came mightily on him, and he prophesied among them.

11It happened, when all who knew him before saw that, behold, he prophesied with the prophets, then the people said one to another, "What is this that is come to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?" 12One of the same place answered, "Who is their father?" Therefore it became a proverb, "Is Saul also among the prophets?" 13When he had made an end of prophesying, he came to the high place.

14Saul's uncle said to him and to his servant, "Where did you go?" He said, "To seek the donkeys. When we saw that they were not found, we came to Samuel." 15Saul's uncle said, "Please tell me what Samuel said to you." 16Saul said to his uncle, "He told us plainly that the donkeys were found." But concerning the matter of the kingdom, of which Samuel spoke, he didn't tell him.

17Samuel called the people together to ForeverOne to Mizpah; 18and he said to the children of Israel, "Thus says ForeverOne, the God of Israel, 'I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all the kingdoms that oppressed you:' 19but you have this day rejected your God, who himself saves you out of all your calamities and your distresses; and you have said to him, '[No], but set a king over us.' Now therefore present yourselves before ForeverOne by your tribes, and by your thousands." 20So Samuel brought all the tribes of Israel near, and the tribe of Benjamin was taken.

21He brought the tribe of Benjamin near by their families; and the family of the Matrites was taken; and Saul the son of Kish was taken: but when they sought him, he could not be found.

22Therefore they asked of ForeverOne further, "Is there yet a man to come here?" ForeverOne answered, "Behold, he has hidden himself among the baggage." 23They ran and fetched him there; and when he stood among the people, he was higher than any of the people from his shoulders and upward.

24Samuel said to all the people, "You see him whom ForeverOne has chosen, that there is none like him among all the people?" All the people shouted, and said, "[Long] live the king!"

2 Chronicles 7:1-11

11 verses

2 Chronicles Chapter 7

1Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of ForeverOne filled the house.

2The priests could not enter into the house of ForeverOne, because the glory of ForeverOne filled ForeverOne's house.

3All the children of Israel looked on, when the fire came down, and the glory of ForeverOne was on the house; and they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground on the pavement, and worshiped, and gave thanks to ForeverOne, [saying], "For he is good; for his loving kindness endures for ever." 4Then the king and all the people offered sacrifice before ForeverOne.

5King Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty-two thousand head of cattle, and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.

6The priests stood, according to their positions; the Levites also with instruments of music of ForeverOne, which David the king had made to give thanks to ForeverOne, when David praised by their ministry, saying "For his loving kindness endures for ever." The priests sounded trumpets before them; and all Israel stood.

7Moreover Solomon made the middle of the court holy that was before the house of ForeverOne; for there he offered the burnt offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the bronze altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt offering, and the meal offering, and the fat.

8So Solomon held the feast at that time seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of Egypt.

9On the eighth day they held a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.

10On the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away to their tents, joyful and glad of heart for the goodness that ForeverOne had shown to David, and to Solomon, and to Israel his people.

11Thus Solomon finished the house of ForeverOne, and the king's house: and he successfully completed all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of ForeverOne, and in his own house.

Mark 6:30-56

Mark Chapter 6

30The apostles gathered themselves together to Jesus, and they told him all things, whatever they had done, and whatever they had taught.

31He said to them, "You come apart into a deserted place, and rest awhile." For there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

32They went away in the boat to a deserted place by themselves.

33They saw them going, and many recognized him and ran there on foot from all the cities. They arrived before them and came together to him.

34Jesus came out, saw a great multitude, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he began to teach them many things.

35When it was late in the day, his disciples came to him, and said, "This place is deserted, and it is late in the day.

36Send them away, that they may go into the surrounding country and villages, and buy themselves bread, for they have nothing to eat." 37But he answered them, "You give them something to eat." They asked him, "Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread, and give them something to eat?" 38He said to them, "How many loaves do you have? Go see." When they knew, they said, "Five, and two fish." 39He commanded them that everyone should sit down in groups on the green grass.

40They sat down in ranks, by hundreds and by fifties.

41He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke the loaves, and he gave to his disciples to set before them, and he divided the two fish among them all.

42They all ate, and were filled.

43They took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and also of the fish.

44Those who ate the loaves were five thousand men.

45Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat, and go ahead to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he himself sent the multitude away.

46After he had taken leave of them, he went up the mountain to pray.

47When evening had come, the boat was in the middle of the sea, and he was alone on the land.

48Seeing them distressed in rowing, for the wind was contrary to them, about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea, and he would have passed by them, 49but they, when they saw him walking on the sea, supposed that it was a ghost, and cried out; 50for they all saw him, and were troubled. But he immediately spoke with them, and said to them, "Cheer up! It is I! Don't be afraid." 51He got into the boat with them; and the wind ceased, and they were very amazed among themselves, and marveled; 52for they hadn't understood about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened.

53When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret, and moored to the shore.

54When they had come out of the boat, immediately the people recognized him, 55and ran around that whole region, and began to bring those who were sick on their mats to where they heard he was.

56Wherever he entered, into villages, or into cities, or into the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged him that they might just touch the fringe of his garment; and as many as touched him were made well.
