Exodus Chapter 22

²⁵"If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you won't be like a creditor to him. You mustn't charge him interest.

²⁶If you take your neighbor's garment as collateral, you shall restore it to him before the sun goes down, ²⁷for that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin. What would he sleep in? When he cries to me, that I will hear, for I am gracious.

²⁸"Don't blaspheme God, nor curse a ruler of your people.

²⁹"Don't delay to offer from your harvest and from the outflow of your presses. "Do give the firstborn of your sons to me.

³⁰You shall do likewise with your cattle and with your sheep. Seven days it shall be with its mother, then on the eighth day you shall give it to me.

³¹"You shall be holy men to me, so don't eat any flesh that is torn by animals in the field. You shall throw it to the dogs.

Exodus Chapter 23

¹"Don't spread a false report. Don't join your hand with the wicked to be a malicious witness.

²"Don't follow a crowd to do evil. Don't testify in court to side with a multitude to pervert justice.

³Don't favor a poor man in his cause.

⁴"If you meet your enemy's ox or his donkey going astray, you must surely bring it back to him again.

⁵If you see the donkey of him who hates you fallen down under his burden, don't leave him, you shall surely help him with it.

⁶"Don't deny justice to your poor people in their lawsuits.

⁷"Keep far from a false charge, and don't kill the innocent and righteous: for I will not justify the wicked.

⁸"You shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds those who have sight and perverts the words of the righteous.

⁹"Don't oppress an alien, for you know the heart of an alien, since you were aliens in the land of Egypt.

¹⁰"For six years you shall sow your land, and shall gather in its increase, ¹¹but the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave the animal of the field shall eat. In the same way, you shall deal with your vineyard and with your olive grove.

¹²"Six days you shall do your work, and on the seventh day you shall rest, that your ox and your donkey may have rest, and the son of your handmaid, and the alien may be refreshed.

¹³"Be careful to do all things that I have said to you; and don't invoke the name of other gods, nor let them be heard out of your mouth.

1 Kings Chapter 13

²⁰As they sat at the table, the word of ForeverOne came to the prophet who brought him back; ²¹and he cried to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, "Thus says ForeverOne, 'Because you have been disobedient to the mouth of ForeverOne, and have not kept the commandment which ForeverOne your God commanded you, ²²but came back, and have eaten bread and drunk water in the place of which he said to you, "Eat no bread, and drink no water;" your body shall not come to the tomb of your fathers.'" ²³After he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, he saddled the donkey for the prophet whom he had brought back.

²⁴When he had gone, a lion met him on the way and killed him. His body was thrown on the path, and the donkey stood by it. The lion also stood by the body.

²⁵Behold, men passed by, and saw the body thrown on the path, and the lion standing by the body; and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet lived.

²⁶When the prophet who brought him back from the path heard of it, he said, "It is the man of God who was disobedient to the mouth of ForeverOne. Therefore ForeverOne has delivered him to the lion, which has mauled him and slain him, according to the word of ForeverOne, which he spoke to him." ²⁷He spoke to his sons, saying, "Saddle the donkey for me." [So] they saddled it.

²⁸He went and found his body thrown on the path, and the donkey and the lion standing by the body. The lion had not eaten the body, nor mauled the donkey.

²⁹The prophet took up the body of the man of God, and laid it on the donkey, and brought it back. He came to the city of the old prophet to mourn, and to bury him.

³⁰He laid his body in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, "Alas, my brother!" ³¹After he had buried him, he spoke to his sons, saying, "When I am dead, then bury me in the tomb in which the man of God is buried. Lay my bones beside his bones.

³²For the saying which he cried by the word of ForeverOne against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, will surely happen." ³³After this thing Jeroboam didn't return from his evil way, but again made priests of the high places from among all the people. Whoever wanted to, he consecrated him, that there might be priests of the high places.

³⁴This thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the surface of the earth.

1 Kings Chapter 14

¹At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick.

²Jeroboam said to his wife, "Please get up and disguise yourself, that you won't be recognized as the wife of Jeroboam. Go to Shiloh. Behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, who spoke concerning me that I should be king over this people.

³Take with you ten loaves, and cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him. He will tell you what will become of the child." ⁴Jeroboam's wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. Now Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

⁵ForeverOne said to Ahijah, "Behold, the wife of Jeroboam comes to inquire of you concerning her son; for he is sick. Thus and thus you shall tell her; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will pretend to be another woman." ⁶When Ahijah heard the sound of her feet as she came in at the door, he said "Come in, you wife of Jeroboam! Why do you pretend to be another? For I am sent to you with heavy news.

⁷Go, tell Jeroboam, 'Thus says ForeverOne, the God of Israel: "Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you prince over my people Israel, ⁸and tore the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it you; and yet you have not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in my eyes, ⁹but have done evil above all who were before you, and have gone and made other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and have put me behind your back: ¹⁰therefore, behold, I will bring evil on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam everyone who urinates on a wall, he who is shut up and he who is left at large in Israel, and will utterly sweep away the house of Jeroboam, as a man sweeps away dung, until it is all gone.

Nehemiah Chapter 7

⁶³Of the priests: the children of Hobaiah, the children of Hakkoz, the children of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name.

⁶⁴These searched for their genealogical records, but couldn't find them. Therefore were they deemed polluted and put from the priesthood.

⁶⁵The governor said to them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, until there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim.

⁶⁶The whole assembly together was forty-two thousand three hundred sixty, ⁶⁷besides their male servants and their female servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty-seven: and they had two hundred forty-five singing men and singing women.

⁶⁸Their horses were seven hundred thirty-six; their mules, two hundred forty-five; ⁶⁹their camels, four hundred thirty-five; their donkeys, six thousand seven hundred twenty.

⁷⁰Some from among the heads of fathers' households gave to the work. The governor gave to the treasury one thousand darics of gold, ? fifty basins, and five hundred thirty priests' garments.

⁷¹Some of the heads of fathers' households gave into the treasury of the work twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand two hundred minas of silver.

⁷²What the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand minas of silver, and sixty-seven priests' garments.

⁷³So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinim, and all Israel, lived in their cities. When the seventh month had come, the children of Israel were in their cities.

Nehemiah Chapter 8

¹All the people gathered themselves together as one man into the broad place that was before the water gate; and they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which ForeverOne had commanded to Israel.

²Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly, both men and women, and all who could hear with understanding, on the first day of the seventh month.

³He read from it before the broad place that was before the water gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women, and of those who could understand; and the ears of all the people were [attentive] to the book of the law.

Luke Chapter 23

³⁹One of the criminals who was hanged insulted him, saying, "Aren't you the AnointedOne? Save yourself and us!" ⁴⁰But the other answered, and rebuking him said, "Don't you even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?

⁴¹And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong." ⁴²He said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when you come into your Kingdom." ⁴³Jesus said to him, "Assuredly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise." ⁴⁴It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour.

⁴⁵The sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two.

⁴⁶Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!" Having said this, he breathed his last.

⁴⁷When the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, "Certainly this was a righteous man." ⁴⁸All the multitudes that came together to see this, when they saw the things that were done, returned home beating their breasts.

⁴⁹All his acquaintances and the women who followed with him from Galilee stood at a distance, watching these things.

⁵⁰Behold, a man named Joseph, who was a member of the council, a good and righteous man ⁵¹(he had not consented to their counsel and deed), from Arimathaea, a city of the Jews, who was also waiting for God's Kingdom: ⁵²this man went to Pilate, and asked for Jesus' body.

⁵³He took it down, and wrapped it in a linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb that was cut in stone, where no one had ever been laid.

⁵⁴It was the day of the Preparation, and the Sabbath was drawing near.

⁵⁵The women, who had come with him out of Galilee, followed after, and saw the tomb, and how his body was laid.

⁵⁶They returned and prepared spices and ointments. On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.
