Genesis 39:13-40:8

Genesis Chapter 39

13When she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and had run outside, 14she called to the men of her house, and spoke to them, saying, "Behold, he has brought in a Hebrew to us to mock us. He came in to me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice.

15When he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, he left his garment by me, and ran outside." 16She laid up his garment by her, until his master came home.

17She spoke to him according to these words, saying, "The Hebrew servant, whom you have brought to us, came in to me to mock me, 18and as I lifted up my voice and cried, he left his garment by me, and ran outside." 19When his master heard the words of his wife, which she spoke to him, saying, "This is what your servant did to me," his wrath was kindled.

20Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, the place where the king's prisoners were bound, and he was there in custody.

21But ForeverOne was with Joseph, and showed kindness to him, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

22The keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners who were in the prison. Whatever they did there, he was responsible for it.

23The keeper of the prison didn't look after anything that was under his hand, because ForeverOne was with him; and what he did, ForeverOne made it prosper.

Genesis Chapter 40

1After these things the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker offended their lord, the king of Egypt.

2Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker.

3He put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.

4The captain of the guard assigned them to Joseph, and he took care of them. They stayed in prison many days.

5They both dreamed a dream, each man his dream, in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were bound in the prison.

6Joseph came in to them in the morning, and saw them, and saw that they were sad.

7He asked Pharaoh's officers who were with him in custody in his master's house, saying, "Why do you look so sad today?" 8They said to him, "We have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it." Joseph said to them, "Don't interpretations belong to God? Please tell it to me."

1 Samuel 17:31-54

1 Samuel Chapter 17

31When the words were heard which David spoke, they rehearsed them before Saul; and he sent for him.

32David said to Saul, "Let no man's heart fail because of him. Your servant will go and fight with this Philistine." 33Saul said to David, "You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth." 34David said to Saul, "Your servant was keeping his father's sheep; and when a lion or a bear came, and took a lamb out of the flock, 35I went out after him, and struck him, and rescued it out of his mouth. When he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and struck him, and killed him.

36Your servant struck both the lion and the bear. This uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, since he has defied the armies of the living God." 37David said, "ForeverOne who delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine." Saul said to David, "Go; and ForeverOne shall be with you." 38Saul dressed David with his clothing. He put a helmet of brass on his head, and he clad him with a coat of mail.

39David strapped his sword on his clothing, and he tried to move; for he had not tested it. David said to Saul, "I can't go with these; for I have not tested them." David took them off.

40He took his staff in his hand, and chose for himself five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in the shepherd's bag which he had, even in his wallet. His sling was in his hand; and he drew near to the Philistine.

41The Philistine came on and drew near to David; and the man who bore the shield went before him.

42When the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him; for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and withal of a fair face.

43The Philistine said to David, "Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?" The Philistine cursed David by his gods.

44The Philistine said to David, "Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the sky, and to the animals of the field." 45Then David said to the Philistine, "You come to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a javelin: but I come to you in the name of ForeverOne of Armies, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

46Today, ForeverOne will deliver you into my hand. I will strike you, and take your head from off you. I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines today to the birds of the sky, and to the wild animals of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, 47and that all this assembly may know that ForeverOne doesn't save with sword and spear: for the battle is ForeverOne's, and he will give you into our hand." 48When the Philistine arose, and came and drew near to meet David, David hurried and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.

49David put his hand in his bag, took a stone, and slung it, and struck the Philistine in his forehead; and the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth.

50So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and struck the Philistine, and killed him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.

51Then David ran, and stood over the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of its sheath, and killed him, and cut off his head with it. When the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.

52The men of Israel and of Judah arose, and shouted, and pursued the Philistines, until you come to Gai, and to the gates of Ekron. The wounded of the Philistines fell down along the road to Shaaraim, even to Gath, and to Ekron.

53The children of Israel returned from chasing after the Philistines, and they plundered their camp.

54David took the head of the Philistine, and brought it to Jerusalem; but he put his armor in his tent.

2 Chronicles 14

15 verses

2 Chronicles Chapter 14

1So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David; and Asa his son reigned in his place. In his days the land was quiet ten years.

2Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of ForeverOne his God: 3for he took away the foreign altars, and the high places, and broke down the pillars, and cut down the Asherim, 4and commanded Judah to seek ForeverOne, the God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.

5He also took away the high places and the sun images out of all the cities of Judah and the kingdom was quiet before him.

6He built fortified cities in Judah; for the land was quiet, and he had no war in those years, because ForeverOne had given him rest.

7For he said to Judah, "Let us build these cities, and make walls around them, with towers, gates, and bars. The land is yet before us, because we have sought ForeverOne our God; we have sought him, and he has given us rest on every side." So they built and prospered.

8Asa had an army that bore bucklers and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bore shields and drew bows, two hundred eighty thousand: all these were mighty men of valor.

9There came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an army of a million troops, and three hundred chariots; and he came to Mareshah.

10Then Asa went out to meet him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.

11Asa cried to ForeverOne his God, and said, "ForeverOne, there is none besides you to help, between the mighty and him who has no strength. Help us, ForeverOne our God; for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this multitude. ForeverOne, you are our God. Don't let man prevail against you." 12So ForeverOne struck the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.

13Asa and the people who were with him pursued them to Gerar: and there fell of the Ethiopians so many that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before ForeverOne, and before his army; and they carried away very much booty.

14They struck all the cities around Gerar; for the fear of ForeverOne came on them: and they despoiled all the cities; for there was much spoil in them.

15They struck also the tents of livestock, and carried away sheep in abundance, and camels, and returned to Jerusalem.

Mark 10:46-11:14

21 verses

Mark Chapter 10

46They came to Jericho. As he went out from Jericho, with his disciples and a great multitude, the son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the road.

47When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out, and say, "Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me!" 48Many rebuked him, that he should be quiet, but he cried out much more, "You son of David, have mercy on me!" 49Jesus stood still, and said, "Call him." They called the blind man, saying to him, "Cheer up! Get up. He is calling you!" 50He, casting away his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.

51Jesus asked him, "What do you want me to do for you?" The blind man said to him, "Rabboni, that I may see again." 52Jesus said to him, "Go your way. Your faith has made you well." Immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus on the way.

Mark Chapter 11

1When they came near to Jerusalem, to Bethsphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, 2and said to them, "Go your way into the village that is opposite you. Immediately as you enter into it, you will find a young donkey tied, on which no one has sat. Untie him, and bring him.

3If anyone asks you, 'Why are you doing this?' say, 'ForeverOne needs him;' and immediately he will send him back here." 4They went away, and found a young donkey tied at the door outside in the open street, and they untied him.

5Some of those who stood there asked them, "What are you doing, untying the young donkey?" 6They said to them just as Jesus had said, and they let them go.

7They brought the young donkey to Jesus, and threw their garments on it, and Jesus sat on it.

8Many spread their garments on the way, and others were cutting down branches from the trees, and spreading them on the road.

9Those who went in front, and those who followed, cried out, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of ForeverOne!

10Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that is coming in the name of ForeverOne! Hosanna in the highest!" 11Jesus entered into the temple in Jerusalem. When he had looked around at everything, it being now evening, he went out to Bethany with the twelve.

12The next day, when they had come out from Bethany, he was hungry.

13Seeing a fig tree with leaves at a distance, he came to see if perhaps he might find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.

14Jesus said to it, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." and his disciples heard it.
