Leviticus 26:34-46

13 verses

Leviticus Chapter 26

34Then the land will enjoy its sabbaths as long as it lies desolate and you are in your enemies' land. Even then the land will rest and enjoy its sabbaths.

35As long as it lies desolate it shall have rest, even the rest which it didn't have in your sabbaths, when you lived on it.

36"'As for those of you who are left, I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies: and the sound of a driven leaf will put them to flight; and they shall flee, as one flees from the sword; and they will fall when no one pursues.

37They will stumble over one another, as it were before the sword, when no one pursues: and you will have no power to stand before your enemies.

38You will perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies will eat you up.

39Those of you who are left will pine away in their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.

40"'If they confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, in their trespass which they trespassed against me, and also that, because they walked contrary to me, 41I also walked contrary to them, and brought them into the land of their enemies: if then their uncircumcised heart is humbled, and they then accept the punishment of their iniquity; 42then I will remember my covenant with Jacob; and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham; and I will remember the land.

43The land also will be left by them, and will enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them: and they will accept the punishment of their iniquity; because, even because they rejected my ordinances, and their soul abhorred my statutes.

44Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them; for I am ForeverOne their God; 45but I will for their sake remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought here out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God. I am ForeverOne.'" 46These are the statutes, ordinances and laws, which ForeverOne made between him and the children of Israel in Mount Sinai by Moses.

Isaiah 66

24 verses

Isaiah Chapter 66

1Thus says ForeverOne, "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: what kind of house will you build to me? and what place shall be my rest?

2For all these things has my hand made, and [so] all these things came to be," says ForeverOne: "but to this man will I look, even to him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at my word.

3He who kills an ox is as he who kills a man; he who sacrifices a lamb, as he who breaks a dog's neck; he who offers an offering, [as he who offers] pig's blood; he who burns frankincense, as he who blesses an idol. Yes, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations: 4So I will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears on them, because when I called, no one answered; when I spoke, they did not listen, but did what was evil in my eyes, and chose what I didn't delight in." 5Hear the word of ForeverOne, you who tremble at his word: "Your brothers who hate you, who rejected you for my name's sake, have said, 'Let ForeverOne be glorified, that we may see your joy;' but it is they who shall be disappointed.

6A voice of tumult from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of ForeverOne that renders recompense to his enemies.

7"Before she travailed, she gave birth; before her pain came, she delivered a son.

8Who has heard such a thing? who has seen such things? Shall a land be born in one day? shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she had her children.

9Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to produce?" says ForeverOne: "shall I who cause to produce shut [the womb]?" says your God.

10"Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all you who love her: rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn over her; 11that you may nurse and be satisfied at the comforting breasts; that you may drink deeply, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory." 12For thus says ForeverOne, "Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream: and you will nurse. You will be carried on her side, and will be dandled on her knees.

13As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted in Jerusalem." 14You will see [it], and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like the tender grass: and the hand of ForeverOne shall be known toward his servants; and he will have indignation against his enemies.

15For, behold, ForeverOne will come with fire, and his chariots shall be like the whirlwind; to render his anger with fierceness, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

16For by fire will ForeverOne execute judgment, and by his sword, on all flesh; and the slain of ForeverOne shall be many.

17"Those who sanctify themselves and purify themselves [to go] to the gardens, behind one in the midst, eating pig's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, they shall come to an end together," says ForeverOne.

18"For I [know] their works and their thoughts: [the time] comes, that I will gather all nations and languages; and they shall come, and shall see my glory.

19"I will set a sign among them, and I will send those of them who escape to the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, who draw the bow, to Tubal and Javan, to the islands far away, who have not heard my fame, nor have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the nations.

20They shall bring all your brothers out of all the nations for an offering to ForeverOne, on horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and on mules, and on dromedaries, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, says ForeverOne, as the children of Israel bring their offering in a clean vessel into the house of ForeverOne.

21Of them also will I take for priests [and] for Levites," says ForeverOne.

22"For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me," says ForeverOne, "so your offspring and your name shall remain.

23From one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me," says ForeverOne.

24"They shall go forth, and look on the dead bodies of the men who have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they will be loathsome to all mankind."

Psalm 45

18 verses

Psalm 45

For the Chief Musician. Set to "The Lilies." A contemplation by the sons of Korah. A wedding song.

1My heart overflows with a noble theme. I recite my verses for the king. My tongue is like the pen of a skillful writer.

2You are the most excellent of the sons of men. Grace has anointed your lips, therefore God has blessed you forever.

3Strap your sword on your thigh, mighty one: your splendor and your majesty.

4In your majesty ride on victoriously on behalf of truth, humility, and righteousness. Let your right hand display awesome deeds.

5Your arrows are sharp. The nations fall under you, with arrows in the heart of the king's enemies.

6Your throne, God, is forever and ever. A scepter of equity is the scepter of your kingdom.

7You have loved righteousness, and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.

8All your garments smell like myrrh, aloes, and cassia. Out of ivory palaces stringed instruments have made you glad.

9Kings' daughters are among your honorable women. At your right hand the queen stands in gold of Ophir.

10Listen, daughter, consider, and turn your ear. Forget your own people, and also your father's house.

11So the king will desire your beauty, honor him, for he is your lord.

12The daughter of Tyre comes with a gift. The rich among the people entreat your favor.

13The princess inside is all glorious. Her clothing is interwoven with gold.

14She shall be led to the king in embroidered work. The virgins, her companions who follow her, shall be brought to you.

15With gladness and rejoicing they shall be led. They shall enter into the king's palace.

16Your sons will take the place of your fathers. You shall make them princes in all the earth.

17I will make your name to be remembered in all generations. Therefore the peoples shall give you thanks forever and ever.

Section 4

Acts 28:11-31

21 verses

Acts Chapter 28

11After three months, we set sail in a ship of Alexandria which had wintered in the island, whose sign was "The Twin Brothers." 12Touching at Syracuse, we stayed there three days.

13From there we circled around and arrived at Rhegium. After one day, a south wind sprang up, and on the second day we came to Puteoli, 14where we found brothers, and were entreated to stay with them for seven days. So we came to Rome.

15From there the brothers, when they heard of us, came to meet us as far as The Market of Appius and The Three Taverns. When Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage.

16When we entered into Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard, but Paul was allowed to stay by himself with the soldier who guarded him.

17After three days Paul called together those who were the leaders of the Jews. When they had come together, he said to them, "I, brothers, though I had done nothing against the people or the customs of our fathers, still was delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans, 18who, when they had examined me, desired to set me free, because there was no cause of death in me.

19But when the Jews spoke against it, I was constrained to appeal to Caesar, not that I had anything about which to accuse my nation.

20So I asked to see you and to speak with you for this reason. For because of the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain." 21They said to him, "We neither received letters from Judea concerning you, nor did any of the brothers come here and report or speak any evil of you.

22But we desire to hear from you what you think. For, as concerning this sect, it is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against." 23When they had appointed him a day, many people came to him at his lodging. He explained to them, testifying about God's Kingdom, and persuading them concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses and from the prophets, from morning until evening.

24Some believed the things which were spoken, and some disbelieved.

25When they didn't agree among themselves, they departed after Paul had spoken one word, "The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through Isaiah the prophet to our fathers, 26saying, 'Go to this people and say, in hearing, you will hear, but will in no way understand. In seeing, you will see, but will in no way perceive.

27For this people's heart has grown callous. Their ears are dull of hearing. Their eyes they have closed. Lest they should see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and would turn again, then I would heal them.' 28"So let it be known to you, that the salvation of God is sent to the nations, and they will listen." 29[*When he had said these words, the Jews departed, having a great dispute among themselves.] 30Paul stayed two whole years in his own rented house and received all who were coming to him, 31preaching God's Kingdom, and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus AnointedOne with all boldness, without hindrance.
