Genesis Chapter 38

15When Judah saw her, he thought that she was a prostitute, for she had covered her face.

16He turned to her by the road, and said, "Please come, let me come in to you," for he didn't know that she was his daughter-in-law. She said, "What will you give me, that you may come in to me?" 17He said, "I will send you a young goat from the flock." She said, "Will you give me a pledge, until you send it?" 18He said, "What pledge will I give you?" She said, "Your signet and your cord, and your staff that is in your hand." He gave them to her, and came in to her, and she conceived by him.

19She arose, and went away, and put off her veil from her, and put on the garments of her widowhood.

20Judah sent the young goat by the hand of his friend, the Adullamite, to receive the pledge from the woman's hand, but he didn't find her.

21Then he asked the men of her place, saying, "Where is the prostitute, that was at Enaim by the road?" They said, "There has been no prostitute here." 22He returned to Judah, and said, "I haven't found her; and also the men of the place said, 'There has been no prostitute here.'" 23Judah said, "Let her keep it, lest we be shamed. Behold, I sent this young goat, and you haven't found her." 24About three months later, Judah was told, saying, "Tamar, your daughter-in-law, has played the prostitute; and moreover, behold, she is with child by prostitution." Judah said, "Bring her out, and let her be burned." 25When she was brought out, she sent to her father-in-law, saying, "By the man, whose these are, I am with child." She also said, "Please discern whose are these - the signet, and the cords, and the staff." 26Judah acknowledged them, and said, "She is more righteous than I, because I didn't give her to Shelah, my son." He knew her again no more.

27In the time of her travail, behold, twins were in her womb.

28When she travailed, one put out a hand, and the midwife took and tied a scarlet thread on his hand, saying, "This came out first." 29As he drew back his hand, behold, his brother came out, and she said, "Why have you made a breach for yourself?" Therefore his name was called Perez.

30Afterward his brother came out, that had the scarlet thread on his hand, and his name was called Zerah.

1 Samuel 15:32-16:23

1 Samuel Chapter 15

32Then Samuel said, "Bring here to me Agag the king of the Amalekites!" Agag came to him cheerfully. Agag said, "Surely the bitterness of death is past." 33Samuel said, "As your sword has made women childless, so your mother will be childless among women!" Samuel cut Agag in pieces before ForeverOne in Gilgal.

34Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul.

35Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death; for Samuel mourned for Saul: and ForeverOne grieved that he had made Saul king over Israel.

1 Samuel Chapter 16

1ForeverOne said to Samuel, "How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go. I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite; for I have provided a king for myself among his sons." 2Samuel said, "How can I go? If Saul hears it, he will kill me." ForeverOne said, "Take a heifer with you, and say, I have come to sacrifice to ForeverOne.

3Call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you shall do. You shall anoint to me him whom I name to you." 4Samuel did what ForeverOne said, and came to Bethlehem. The elders of the city came to meet him trembling, and said, "Do you come peaceably?" 5He said, "Peaceably; I have come to sacrifice to ForeverOne. Sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice." He sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.

6When they had come, he looked at Eliab and said, "Surely ForeverOne's anointed is before him." 7But ForeverOne said to Samuel, "Don't look on his face, or on the height of his stature; because I have rejected him: for [ForeverOne sees] not as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but ForeverOne looks at the heart." 8Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. He said, "Neither has ForeverOne chosen this one." 9Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by. He said, "Neither has ForeverOne chosen this one." 10Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. Samuel said to Jesse, "ForeverOne has not chosen these." 11Samuel said to Jesse, "Are all your children here?" He said, "There remains yet the youngest, and behold, he is keeping the sheep." Samuel said to Jesse, "Send and get him; for we will not sit down until he comes here." 12He sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful face, and goodly to look on. ForeverOne said, "Arise, anoint him; for he is the one." 13Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brothers: and the Spirit of ForeverOne came mightily on David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

14Now the Spirit of ForeverOne departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from ForeverOne troubled him.

15Saul's servants said to him, "See now, an evil spirit from God troubles you.

16Let our lord now command your servants who are before you, to seek out a man who is a skillful player on the harp. Then when the evil spirit from God is on you, he will play with his hand, and you will be well." 17Saul said to his servants, "Provide me now a man who can play well, and bring him to me." 18Then one of the young men answered, and said, "Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a mighty man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a comely person; and ForeverOne is with him." 19Therefore Saul sent messengers to Jesse, and said, "Send me David your son, who is with the sheep." 20Jesse took a donkey loaded with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a young goat, and sent them by David his son to Saul.

21David came to Saul, and stood before him. He loved him greatly; and he became his armor bearer.

22Saul sent to Jesse, saying, "Please let David stand before me; for he has found favor in my sight." 23When the spirit from God was on Saul, David took the harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

Section 3

2 Chronicles 12:5-13:3

15 verses

2 Chronicles Chapter 12

5Now Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, who were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them, "Thus says ForeverOne, 'You have forsaken me, therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.'" 6Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, "ForeverOne is righteous." 7When ForeverOne saw that they humbled themselves, the word of ForeverOne came to Shemaiah, saying, "They have humbled themselves. I will not destroy them; but I will grant them some deliverance, and my wrath shall not be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

8Nevertheless they shall be his servants, that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries." 9So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of ForeverOne, and the treasures of the king's house. He took it all away. He also took away the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

10King Rehoboam made in their place shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king's house.

11As often as the king entered into the house of ForeverOne, the guard came and bore them, and brought them back into the guard room.

12When he humbled himself, the wrath of ForeverOne turned from him, so as not to destroy him altogether: and moreover in Judah there were good things [found].

13So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which ForeverOne had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there: and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

14He did what was evil, because he didn't set his heart to seek ForeverOne.

15Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, aren't they written in the histories of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer, after the way of genealogies? There were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

16Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his place.

2 Chronicles Chapter 13

1In the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam began Abijah to reign over Judah.

2Three years reigned he in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Micaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. There was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.

3Abijah joined battle with an army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men: and Jeroboam set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, who were mighty men of valor.

Mark 10:1-27

Mark Chapter 10

1He arose from there and came into the borders of Judea and beyond the Jordan. Multitudes came together to him again. As he usually did, he was again teaching them.

2Pharisees came to him testing him, and asked him, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?" 3He answered, "What did Moses command you?" 4They said, "Moses allowed a certificate of divorce to be written, and to divorce her." 5But Jesus said to them, "For your hardness of heart, he wrote you this commandment.

6But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female.

7For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will join to his wife, 8and the two will become one flesh, so that they are no longer two, but one flesh.

9So what God has joined together, let no human separate." 10In the house, his disciples asked him again about the same matter.

11He said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife, and marries another, commits adultery against her.

12If a woman herself divorces her husband, and marries another, she commits adultery." 13They were bringing to him little children, that he should touch them, but the disciples rebuked those who were bringing them.

14But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said to them, "Allow the little children to come to me! Don't forbid them, for God's Kingdom belongs to such as these.

15Most certainly I tell you, whoever will not receive God's Kingdom like a little child, he will in no way enter into it." 16He took them in his arms, and blessed them, laying his hands on them.

17As he was going out into the way, one ran to him, knelt before him, and asked him, "Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?" 18Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good except one- God.

19You know the commandments: 'Do not murder,' 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not give false testimony,' 'Do not defraud,' 'Honor your father and mother.'" 20He said to him, "Teacher, I have observed all these things from my youth." 21Jesus looking at him loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack. Go, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me, taking up the cross." 22But his face fell at that saying, and he went away sorrowful, for he was one who had great possessions.

23Jesus looked around, and said to his disciples, "How difficult it is for those who have riches to enter into God's Kingdom!" 24The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus answered again, "Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter into God's Kingdom!

25It is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye than for a rich man to enter into God's Kingdom." 26They were exceedingly astonished, saying to him, "Then who can be saved?" 27Jesus, looking at them, said, "With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God."
