Genesis 24:61-25:10

17 verses

Genesis Chapter 24

61Rebekah arose with her ladies. They rode on the camels, and followed the man. The servant took Rebekah, and went his way.

62Isaac came from the way of Beer Lahai Roi, for he lived in the land of the South.

63Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the evening. He lifted up his eyes and looked. Behold, there were camels coming.

64Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she got off the camel.

65She said to the servant, "Who is the man who is walking in the field to meet us?" The servant said, "It is my master." She took her veil, and covered herself.

66The servant told Isaac all the things that he had done.

67Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife. He loved her. So Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.

Genesis Chapter 25

1Abraham took another wife, and her name was Keturah.

2She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah.

3Jokshan became the father of Sheba, and Dedan. The sons of Dedan were Asshurim, Letushim, and Leummim.

4The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.

5Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac, 6but Abraham gave gifts to the sons of Abraham's concubines. While he still lived, he sent them away from Isaac his son, eastward, to the east country.

7These are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived: one hundred seventy-five years.

8Abraham breathed his last, and died at a good old age, an old man, and full of years, and was gathered to his people.

9Isaac and Ishmael, his sons, buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron, the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is near Mamre, 10the field which Abraham purchased from the children of Heth. Abraham was buried there with Sarah, his wife.

Section 2

Judges 10:6-11:11

24 verses

Judges Chapter 10

6The children of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of ForeverOne, and served the Baals, and the Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Sidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; and they forsook ForeverOne, and didn't serve him.

7The anger of ForeverOne was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the children of Ammon.

8They troubled and oppressed the children of Israel that year: [for] eighteen years [they oppressed] all the children of Israel that were beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.

9The children of Ammon passed over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was very distressed.

10The children of Israel cried to ForeverOne, saying, "We have sinned against you, even because we have forsaken our God, and have served the Baals." 11ForeverOne said to the children of Israel, "Didn't I save you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?

12The Sidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, oppressed you; and you cried to me, and I saved you out of their hand.

13Yet you have forsaken me, and served other gods: therefore I will save you no more.

14Go and cry to the gods which you have chosen. Let them save you in the time of your distress!" 15The children of Israel said to ForeverOne, "We have sinned: do you to us whatever seems good to you; only deliver us, please, today." 16They rejected the foreign gods from among them, and served ForeverOne; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

17Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. The children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpah.

18The people, the princes of Gilead, said one to another, "What man is he who will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? He shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead."

Judges Chapter 11

1Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valor, and he was the son of a prostitute: and Gilead became the father of Jephthah.

2Gilead's wife bore him sons; and when his wife's sons grew up, they drove out Jephthah, and said to him, "You shall not inherit in our father's house; for you are the son of another woman." 3Then Jephthah fled from his brothers, and lived in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain fellows to Jephthah, and they went out with him.

4After a while, the children of Ammon made war against Israel.

5When the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to get Jephthah out of the land of Tob; 6and they said to Jephthah, "Come and be our chief, that we may fight with the children of Ammon." 7Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, "Didn't you hate me, and drive me out of my father's house? Why have you come to me now when you are in distress?" 8The elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, "Therefore we have turned again to you now, that you may go with us, and fight with the children of Ammon; and you shall be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead." 9Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, "If you bring me home again to fight with the children of Ammon, and ForeverOne deliver them before me, shall I be your head?" 10The elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, "ForeverOne shall be witness between us; surely according to your word so will we do." 11Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and chief over them: and Jephthah spoke all his words before ForeverOne in Mizpah.

Section 3

1 Chronicles 21:18-22:5

18 verses

1 Chronicles Chapter 21

18Then the angel of ForeverOne commanded Gad to tell David that David should go up, and raise an altar to ForeverOne in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

19David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spoke in the name of ForeverOne.

20Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons who were with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.

21As David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshing floor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.

22Then David said to Ornan, "Give me the place of this threshing floor, that I may build an altar to ForeverOne on it. You shall sell it to me for the full price, that the plague may be stopped from afflicting the people." 23Ornan said to David, "Take it for yourself, and let my lord the king do what is good in his eyes. Behold, I give the oxen for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meal offering. I give it all." 24King David said to Ornan, "No; but I will most certainly buy it for the full price. For I will not take what is yours for ForeverOne, nor offer a burnt offering without cost." 25So David gave to Ornan six hundred shekels of gold by weight for the place.

26David built an altar to ForeverOne there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called on ForeverOne; and he answered him from the sky by fire on the altar of burnt offering.

27ForeverOne commanded the angel; and he put up his sword back into its sheath.

28At that time, when David saw that ForeverOne had answered him in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.

29For the tabernacle of ForeverOne, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of burnt offering, were at that time in the high place at Gibeon.

30But David couldn't go before it to inquire of God; for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of ForeverOne.

1 Chronicles Chapter 22

1Then David said, "This is the house of ForeverOne God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel." 2David gave orders to gather together the foreigners who were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to cut worked stones to build the house of God.

3David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the couplings; and brass in abundance without weight; 4and cedar trees without number: for the Sidonians and they of Tyre brought cedar trees in abundance to David.

5David said, "Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be built for ForeverOne must be exceedingly magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries. I will therefore make preparation for it." So David prepared abundantly before his death.

Section 4

Matthew 24:1-28

28 verses

Matthew Chapter 24

1Jesus went out from the temple, and was going on his way. His disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple.

2But he answered them, "You see all of these things, don't you? Most certainly I tell you, there will not be left here one stone on another, that will not be thrown down." 3As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? What is the sign of your coming, and of the end of the age?" 4Jesus answered them, "Be careful that no one leads you astray.

5For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the AnointedOne,' and will lead many astray.

6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren't troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet.

7For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places.

8But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.

9"Then they will deliver you up to oppression and will kill you. You will be hated by all of the nations for my name's sake.

10Then many will stumble, and will deliver up one another, and will hate one another.

11Many false prophets will arise and will lead many astray.

12Because iniquity will be multiplied, the love of many will grow cold.

13But he who endures to the end will be saved.

14This Good News of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world for a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

15"So, when you see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), 16then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

17Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take out the things that are in his house.

18Let him who is in the field not return back to get his clothes.

19But woe to those who are with child and to nursing mothers in those days!

20Pray that your flight will not be in the winter nor on a Sabbath, 21for then there will be great suffering, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever will be.

22Unless those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved. But for the sake of the chosen ones, those days will be shortened.

23"Then if any man tells you, 'Behold, here is the AnointedOne!' or, 'There!' don't believe it.

24For there will arise false-christs, and false prophets, and they will show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones.

25"Behold, I have told you beforehand.

26"So if they tell you, 'Behold, he is in the wilderness,' don't go out; or 'Behold, he is in the inner rooms,' don't believe it.

27For as the lightning flashes from the east, and is seen even to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.

28For wherever the carcass is, that is where the vultures gather together.
