Leviticus Chapter 26

¹⁸"'If you in spite of these things will not listen to me, then I will chastise you seven times more for your sins.

¹⁹I will break the pride of your power, and I will make your sky like iron, and your soil like brass; ²⁰and your strength will be spent in vain; for your land won't yield its increase, neither will the trees of the land yield their fruit.

²¹"'If you walk contrary to me, and won't listen to me, then I will bring seven times more plagues on you according to your sins.

²²I will send the wild animals among you, which will rob you of your children, destroy your livestock, and make you few in number; and your roads will become desolate.

²³"'If by these things you won't be reformed to me, but will walk contrary to me; ²⁴then I will also walk contrary to you; and I will strike you, even I, seven times for your sins.

²⁵I will bring a sword upon you, that will execute the vengeance of the covenant; and you will be gathered together within your cities: and I will send the pestilence among you; and you will be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

²⁶When I break your staff of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver your bread again by weight: and you shall eat, and not be satisfied.

²⁷"'If you in spite of this won't listen to me, but walk contrary to me; ²⁸then I will walk contrary to you in wrath; and I also will chastise you seven times for your sins.

²⁹You will eat the flesh of your sons, and you will eat the flesh of your daughters.

³⁰I will destroy your high places, and cut down your incense altars, and throw your dead-bodies upon the dead-bodies of your idols; and my soul will abhor you.

³¹I will lay your cities waste, and will bring your sanctuaries to desolation, and I will not take delight in the sweet fragrance of your offerings.

³²I will bring the land into desolation; and your enemies that dwell in it will be astonished at it.

³³I will scatter you among the nations, and I will draw out the sword after you: and your land will be a desolation, and your cities shall be a waste.

Isaiah Chapter 65

¹"I am inquired of by those who didn't ask; I am found by those who didn't seek me: I said, See me, see me, to a nation that was not called by my name.

²I have spread out my hands all the day to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, after their own thoughts; ³a people who provoke me to my face continually, sacrificing in gardens, and burning incense on bricks; ⁴who sit among the graves, and lodge in the secret places; who eat pig's flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels; ⁵who say, Stand by yourself, don't come near to me, for I am holier than you. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burns all the day.

⁶"Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, yes, I will recompense into their bosom, ⁷your own iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together," says ForeverOne, "who have burned incense on the mountains, and blasphemed me on the hills; therefore will I first measure their work into their bosom." ⁸Thus says ForeverOne, "As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one says, 'Don't destroy it, for a blessing is in it:' so will I do for my servants' sake, that I may not destroy them all.

⁹I will produce an offspring out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains; and my chosen shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.

¹⁰Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, and the valley of Achor a place for herds to lie down in, for my people who have sought me.

¹¹"But you who forsake ForeverOne, who forget my holy mountain, who prepare a table for Fortune, and who fill up mixed wine to Destiny; ¹²I will destine you for the sword, and you will all bow down to the slaughter, because when I called, you didn't answer. When I spoke, you did not hear, but you did what was evil in my eyes, and chose that which I didn't delight in." ¹³Therefore thus says LordOfMine ForeverOne, "Behold, my servants shall eat, but you shall be hungry; behold, my servants shall drink, but you shall be thirsty; behold, my servants shall rejoice, but you shall be disappointed; ¹⁴behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but you shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall wail for anguish of spirit.

¹⁵You shall leave your name for a curse to my chosen; and LordOfMine ForeverOne will kill you; and he will call his servants by another name: ¹⁶so that he who blesses himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he who swears in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hidden from my eyes.

¹⁷"For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former things shall not be remembered, nor come to mind.

¹⁸But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.

¹⁹I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people; and there shall be heard in her no more the voice of weeping and the voice of crying.

²⁰"There shall be no more there an infant of days, nor an old man who has not filled his days; for the child shall die one hundred years old, and the sinner being one hundred years old shall be accursed.

²¹They shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.

²²They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree shall be the days of my people, and my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands.

²³They shall not labor in vain, nor produce for calamity; for they are the offspring of the blessed of ForeverOne, and their offspring with them.

²⁴Before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

²⁵The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox; and dust shall be the serpent's food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain," says ForeverOne.

Psalm 43

¹Vindicate me, God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation. Oh, deliver me from deceitful and wicked men.

²For you are the God of my strength. Why have you rejected me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

³Oh, send out your light and your truth. Let them lead me. Let them bring me to your holy hill, To your tents.

⁴Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my exceeding joy. I will praise you on the harp, God, my God.

⁵Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him: my Savior, my helper, and my God.

Psalm 44

For the Chief Musician. By the sons of Korah. A contemplative psalm.

¹We have heard with our ears, God, our fathers have told us, what work you did in their days, in the days of old.

²You drove out the nations with your hand, but you planted them. You afflicted the peoples, but you spread them abroad.

³For they didn't get the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your face, because you were favorable to them.

⁴You are my King, God. Command victories for Jacob!

⁵Through you, will we push down our adversaries. Through your name, will we tread them under who rise up against us.

⁶For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

⁷But you have saved us from our adversaries, and have shamed those who hate us.

⁸In God we have made our boast all day long, we will give thanks to your name forever. Selah.

⁹But now you rejected us, and brought us to dishonor, and don't go out with our armies.

¹⁰You make us turn back from the adversary. Those who hate us take spoil for themselves.

¹¹You have made us like sheep for food, and have scattered us among the nations.

¹²You sell your people for nothing, and have gained nothing from their sale.

¹³You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and a derision to those who are around us.

¹⁴You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.

¹⁵All day long my dishonor is before me, and shame covers my face, ¹⁶At the taunt of one who reproaches and verbally abuses, because of the enemy and the avenger.

¹⁷All this has come on us, yet have we not forgotten you, Neither have we been false to your covenant.

¹⁸Our heart has not turned back, neither have our steps strayed from your path, ¹⁹Though you have crushed us in the haunt of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.

²⁰If we have forgotten the name of our God, or spread out our hands to a strange god; ²¹won't God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.

²²Yes, for your sake we are killed all day long. We are regarded as sheep for the slaughter.

²³Wake up! Why do you sleep, LordOfMine? Arise! Don't reject us forever.

²⁴Why do you hide your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?

²⁵For our soul is bowed down to the dust. Our body clings to the earth.

²⁶Rise up to help us. Redeem us for your loving kindness' sake.

Acts Chapter 27

³⁹When it was day, they didn't recognize the land, but they noticed a certain bay with a beach, and they decided to try to drive the ship onto it.

⁴⁰Casting off the anchors, they left them in the sea, at the same time untying the rudder ropes. Hoisting up the foresail to the wind, they made for the beach.

⁴¹But coming to a place where two seas met, they ran the vessel aground. The bow struck and remained immovable, but the stern began to break up by the violence of the waves.

⁴²The soldiers' counsel was to kill the prisoners, so that none of them would swim out and escape.

⁴³But the centurion, desiring to save Paul, stopped them from their purpose, and commanded that those who could swim should throw themselves overboard first to go toward the land; ⁴⁴and the rest should follow, some on planks, and some on other things from the ship. So they all escaped safely to the land.

Acts Chapter 28

¹When we had escaped, then they learned that the island was called Malta.

²The natives showed us uncommon kindness; for they kindled a fire and received us all, because of the present rain and because of the cold.

³But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

⁴When the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, "No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped from the sea, yet Justice has not allowed to live." ⁵However he shook off the creature into the fire, and wasn't harmed.

⁶But they expected that he would have swollen or fallen down dead suddenly, but when they watched for a long time and saw nothing bad happen to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

⁷Now in the neighborhood of that place were lands belonging to the chief man of the island, named Publius, who received us, and courteously entertained us for three days.

⁸The father of Publius lay sick of fever and dysentery. Paul entered in to him, prayed, and laying his hands on him, healed him.

⁹Then when this was done, the rest also who had diseases in the island came and were cured.

¹⁰They also honored us with many honors, and when we sailed, they put on board the things that we needed.
