Leviticus 26:18-33

16 verses

Leviticus Chapter 26

18"'If you in spite of these things will not listen to me, then I will chastise you seven times more for your sins.

19I will break the pride of your power, and I will make your sky like iron, and your soil like brass; 20and your strength will be spent in vain; for your land won't yield its increase, neither will the trees of the land yield their fruit.

21"'If you walk contrary to me, and won't listen to me, then I will bring seven times more plagues on you according to your sins.

22I will send the wild animals among you, which will rob you of your children, destroy your livestock, and make you few in number; and your roads will become desolate.

23"'If by these things you won't be reformed to me, but will walk contrary to me; 24then I will also walk contrary to you; and I will strike you, even I, seven times for your sins.

25I will bring a sword upon you, that will execute the vengeance of the covenant; and you will be gathered together within your cities: and I will send the pestilence among you; and you will be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

26When I break your staff of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver your bread again by weight: and you shall eat, and not be satisfied.

27"'If you in spite of this won't listen to me, but walk contrary to me; 28then I will walk contrary to you in wrath; and I also will chastise you seven times for your sins.

29You will eat the flesh of your sons, and you will eat the flesh of your daughters.

30I will destroy your high places, and cut down your incense altars, and throw your dead-bodies upon the dead-bodies of your idols; and my soul will abhor you.

31I will lay your cities waste, and will bring your sanctuaries to desolation, and I will not take delight in the sweet fragrance of your offerings.

32I will bring the land into desolation; and your enemies that dwell in it will be astonished at it.

33I will scatter you among the nations, and I will draw out the sword after you: and your land will be a desolation, and your cities shall be a waste.

Isaiah 65

25 verses

Isaiah Chapter 65

1"I am inquired of by those who didn't ask; I am found by those who didn't seek me: I said, See me, see me, to a nation that was not called by my name.

2I have spread out my hands all the day to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, after their own thoughts; 3a people who provoke me to my face continually, sacrificing in gardens, and burning incense on bricks; 4who sit among the graves, and lodge in the secret places; who eat pig's flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels; 5who say, Stand by yourself, don't come near to me, for I am holier than you. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burns all the day.

6"Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, yes, I will recompense into their bosom, 7your own iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together," says ForeverOne, "who have burned incense on the mountains, and blasphemed me on the hills; therefore will I first measure their work into their bosom." 8Thus says ForeverOne, "As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one says, 'Don't destroy it, for a blessing is in it:' so will I do for my servants' sake, that I may not destroy them all.

9I will produce an offspring out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains; and my chosen shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.

10Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, and the valley of Achor a place for herds to lie down in, for my people who have sought me.

11"But you who forsake ForeverOne, who forget my holy mountain, who prepare a table for Fortune, and who fill up mixed wine to Destiny; 12I will destine you for the sword, and you will all bow down to the slaughter, because when I called, you didn't answer. When I spoke, you did not hear, but you did what was evil in my eyes, and chose that which I didn't delight in." 13Therefore thus says LordOfMine ForeverOne, "Behold, my servants shall eat, but you shall be hungry; behold, my servants shall drink, but you shall be thirsty; behold, my servants shall rejoice, but you shall be disappointed; 14behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but you shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall wail for anguish of spirit.

15You shall leave your name for a curse to my chosen; and LordOfMine ForeverOne will kill you; and he will call his servants by another name: 16so that he who blesses himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he who swears in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hidden from my eyes.

17"For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former things shall not be remembered, nor come to mind.

18But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.

19I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people; and there shall be heard in her no more the voice of weeping and the voice of crying.

20"There shall be no more there an infant of days, nor an old man who has not filled his days; for the child shall die one hundred years old, and the sinner being one hundred years old shall be accursed.

21They shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.

22They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree shall be the days of my people, and my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands.

23They shall not labor in vain, nor produce for calamity; for they are the offspring of the blessed of ForeverOne, and their offspring with them.

24Before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

25The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox; and dust shall be the serpent's food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain," says ForeverOne.

Psalm 43-44

32 verses

Psalm 43

1Vindicate me, God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation. Oh, deliver me from deceitful and wicked men.

2For you are the God of my strength. Why have you rejected me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

3Oh, send out your light and your truth. Let them lead me. Let them bring me to your holy hill, To your tents.

4Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my exceeding joy. I will praise you on the harp, God, my God.

5Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him: my Savior, my helper, and my God.

Psalm 44

For the Chief Musician. By the sons of Korah. A contemplative psalm.

1We have heard with our ears, God, our fathers have told us, what work you did in their days, in the days of old.

2You drove out the nations with your hand, but you planted them. You afflicted the peoples, but you spread them abroad.

3For they didn't get the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your face, because you were favorable to them.

4You are my King, God. Command victories for Jacob!

5Through you, will we push down our adversaries. Through your name, will we tread them under who rise up against us.

6For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

7But you have saved us from our adversaries, and have shamed those who hate us.

8In God we have made our boast all day long, we will give thanks to your name forever. Selah.

9But now you rejected us, and brought us to dishonor, and don't go out with our armies.

10You make us turn back from the adversary. Those who hate us take spoil for themselves.

11You have made us like sheep for food, and have scattered us among the nations.

12You sell your people for nothing, and have gained nothing from their sale.

13You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and a derision to those who are around us.

14You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.

15All day long my dishonor is before me, and shame covers my face, 16At the taunt of one who reproaches and verbally abuses, because of the enemy and the avenger.

17All this has come on us, yet have we not forgotten you, Neither have we been false to your covenant.

18Our heart has not turned back, neither have our steps strayed from your path, 19Though you have crushed us in the haunt of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.

20If we have forgotten the name of our God, or spread out our hands to a strange god; 21won't God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.

22Yes, for your sake we are killed all day long. We are regarded as sheep for the slaughter.

23Wake up! Why do you sleep, LordOfMine? Arise! Don't reject us forever.

24Why do you hide your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?

25For our soul is bowed down to the dust. Our body clings to the earth.

26Rise up to help us. Redeem us for your loving kindness' sake.

Section 4

Acts 27:39-28:10

16 verses

Acts Chapter 27

39When it was day, they didn't recognize the land, but they noticed a certain bay with a beach, and they decided to try to drive the ship onto it.

40Casting off the anchors, they left them in the sea, at the same time untying the rudder ropes. Hoisting up the foresail to the wind, they made for the beach.

41But coming to a place where two seas met, they ran the vessel aground. The bow struck and remained immovable, but the stern began to break up by the violence of the waves.

42The soldiers' counsel was to kill the prisoners, so that none of them would swim out and escape.

43But the centurion, desiring to save Paul, stopped them from their purpose, and commanded that those who could swim should throw themselves overboard first to go toward the land; 44and the rest should follow, some on planks, and some on other things from the ship. So they all escaped safely to the land.

Acts Chapter 28

1When we had escaped, then they learned that the island was called Malta.

2The natives showed us uncommon kindness; for they kindled a fire and received us all, because of the present rain and because of the cold.

3But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

4When the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, "No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped from the sea, yet Justice has not allowed to live." 5However he shook off the creature into the fire, and wasn't harmed.

6But they expected that he would have swollen or fallen down dead suddenly, but when they watched for a long time and saw nothing bad happen to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

7Now in the neighborhood of that place were lands belonging to the chief man of the island, named Publius, who received us, and courteously entertained us for three days.

8The father of Publius lay sick of fever and dysentery. Paul entered in to him, prayed, and laying his hands on him, healed him.

9Then when this was done, the rest also who had diseases in the island came and were cured.

10They also honored us with many honors, and when we sailed, they put on board the things that we needed.
