Deuteronomy 20:1-14

14 verses

Deuteronomy Chapter 20

1When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses, and chariots, [and] a people more than you, you shall not be afraid of them; for ForeverOne your God is with you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

2When you draw near to the battle the priest shall approach and speak to the people, 3and shall tell them, "Hear, Israel, you draw near today to battle against your enemies: don't let your heart faint; don't be afraid, nor tremble, neither be scared of them; 4for ForeverOne your God is he who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you." 5The officers shall speak to the people, saying, "What man is there who has built a new house, and has not dedicated it? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man dedicate it.

6What man is there who has planted a vineyard, and has not used its fruit? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man use its fruit.

7What man is there who has pledged to be married a wife, and has not taken her? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her." 8The officers shall speak further to the people, and they shall say, "What man is there who is fearful and fainthearted? Let him go and return to his house, lest his brother's heart melt as his heart." 9When the officers have finished speaking to the people they shall appoint captains of armies at the head of the people.

10When you draw near to a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace to it.

11And, if it answers you of peace and opens to you, then it shall be that all the people who are found in it shall become tributary to you, and shall serve you.

12If it will not make peace with you, but will make war against you, then you shall besiege it: 13and when ForeverOne your God delivers it into your hand, you shall strike every male of it with the edge of the sword.

14But the women, the little ones, the livestock and all that is in the city, even all its spoil, you shall take for a prey to yourself; and you shall eat the spoil of your enemies, which ForeverOne your God has given you.

Amos 5:14-6:11

25 verses

Amos Chapter 5

14Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so ForeverOne, the God of Armies, will be with you, as you say.

15Hate evil, love good, and establish justice in the courts. It may be that ForeverOne, the God of Armies, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph." 16Therefore thus says ForeverOne, the God of Armies, LordOfMine: "Wailing will be in all the broad ways; and they will say in all the streets, 'Alas! Alas!' and they will call the farmer to mourning, and those who are skillful in lamentation to wailing.

17In all vineyards there will be wailing; for I will pass through the midst of you," says ForeverOne.

18"Woe to you who desire the day of ForeverOne! Why do you long for the day of ForeverOne? It is darkness, and not light.

19As if a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him; Or he went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a snake bit him.

20Won't the day of ForeverOne be darkness, and not light? Even very dark, and no brightness in it?

21I hate, I despise your feasts, and I can't stand your solemn assemblies.

22Yes, though you offer me your burnt offerings and meal offerings, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat animals.

23Take away from me the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps.

24But let justice roll on like rivers, and righteousness like a mighty stream.

25"House of Israel, did you bring sacrifices and offerings to me during the forty years in the wilderness?

26You also carried the tent of your king and the shrine of your images, the star of your gods, which you made for yourselves.

27Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus," says ForeverOne, whose name is the God of Armies.

Amos Chapter 6

1Woe to those who are at ease in Zion, and to those who are secure on the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come!

2Go to Calneh, and see; and from there go to Hamath the great; then go down to Gath of the Philistines. are they better than these kingdoms? or is their border greater than your border?

3Those who put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near; 4Who lie on beds of ivory, and stretch themselves on their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall; 5who strum on the strings of a harp; who invent for themselves instruments of music, like David; 6who drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the best oils; but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.

7Therefore they will now go captive with the first who go captive; and the feasting and lounging will end.

8"LordOfMine ForeverOne has sworn by himself," says ForeverOne, the God of Armies: "I abhor the pride of Jacob, and detest his fortresses. Therefore I will deliver up the city with all that is in it.

9If there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.

10"When a man's relative carries him, even he who burns him, to bring bodies out of the house, and asks him who is in the innermost parts of the house, 'Is there yet any with you?' And he says, 'No;' then he will say, 'Hush! Indeed we must not mention the name of ForeverOne.' 11"For, behold, ForeverOne commands, and the great house will be smashed to pieces, and the little house into bits.

Lamentations 2:7-19

13 verses

Lamentations Chapter 2

7LordOfMine has rejected his altar, he has abhorred his sanctuary; He has given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces: They have made a noise in the house of ForeverOne, as in the day of a solemn assembly.

8ForeverOne has purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion; He has stretched out the line, he has not withdrawn his hand from destroying; He has made the rampart and wall to lament; they languish together.

9Her gates are sunk into the ground; he has destroyed and broken her bars: Her king and her princes are among the nations where the law is not; Yes, her prophets find no vision from ForeverOne.

10The elders of the daughter of Zion sit on the ground, they keep silence; They have thrown dust upon their heads; they have clothed themselves with sackcloth: The virgins of Jerusalem hang down their heads to the ground.

11My eyes do fail with tears, my heart is troubled; My liver is poured on the earth, because of the destruction of the daughter of my people, Because the young children and the infants swoon in the streets of the city.

12They tell their mothers, Where is grain and wine? When they swoon as the wounded in the streets of the city, When their soul is poured out into their mothers' bosom.

13What shall I testify to you? what shall I liken to you, daughter of Jerusalem? What shall I compare to you, that I may comfort you, virgin daughter of Zion? For your breach is great like the sea: who can heal you?

14Your prophets have seen for you false and foolish visions; They have not uncovered your iniquity, to bring back your captivity, but have seen for you false oracles and causes of banishment.

15All that pass by clap their hands at you. They hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, [saying], Is this the city that men called The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth?

16All your enemies have opened their mouth wide against you; They hiss and gnash the teeth; they say, We have swallowed her up; Certainly this is the day that we looked for; we have found, we have seen it.

17ForeverOne has done what he purposed; he has fulfilled his word that he commanded in the days of old; He has thrown down, and has not pitied: He has caused the enemy to rejoice over you; he has exalted the horn of your adversaries.

18Their heart cried to LordOfMine: wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night; Give yourself no respite; don't let the apple of your eye cease.

19Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches; Pour out your heart like water before the face of LordOfMine: Lift up your hands toward him for the life of your young children, that faint for hunger at the head of every street.

1 John 4

21 verses

1 John Chapter 4

1Dear-ones, don't believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

2By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit who confesses that Jesus AnointedOne has come in the flesh is of God, 3and every spirit who doesn't confess that Jesus AnointedOne has come in the flesh is not of God, and this is the spirit of the Antichrist, of whom you have heard that it comes. Now it is in the world already.

4You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world.

5They are of the world; so they speak of the world, and the world hears them.

6We are of God. He who knows God listens to us. He who is not of God doesn't listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

7Dear-ones, let's love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves has been born of God, and knows God.

8He who doesn't love doesn't know God, for God is love.

9By this God's love was revealed in us, that God has sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.

10In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

11Dear-ones, if God loved us in this way, we also ought to love one another.

12No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God remains in us, and his love has been perfected in us.

13By this we know that we remain in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.

14We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as the Savior of the world.

15Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him, and he in God.

16We know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.

17In this, love has been made perfect among us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as he is, even so are we in this world.

18There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love.

19We love him, because he first loved us.

20If a man says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who doesn't love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?

21This commandment we have from him, that he who loves God should also love his brother.
