Deuteronomy 3:15-29

15 verses

Deuteronomy Chapter 3

15I gave Gilead to Machir.

16To the Reubenites and to the Gadites I gave from Gilead even to the valley of the Arnon, the middle of the valley, and the border [of it], even to the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon; 17the Arabah also, and the Jordan and the border [of it], from Chinnereth even to the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, under the slopes of Pisgah eastward.

18I commanded you at that time, saying, "ForeverOne your God has given you this land to possess it: you shall pass over armed before your brothers the children of Israel, all the men of valor.

19But your wives, and your little ones, and your livestock, (I know that you have much livestock), shall live in your cities which I have given you, 20until ForeverOne gives rest to your brothers, as to you, and they also possess the land which ForeverOne your God gives them beyond the Jordan: then you shall return every man to his possession, which I have given you." 21I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, "Your eyes have seen all that ForeverOne your God has done to these two kings: so shall ForeverOne do to all the kingdoms where you go over.

22You shall not fear them; for ForeverOne your God, he it is who fights for you." 23I begged ForeverOne at that time, saying, 24"LordOfMine ForeverOne, you have begun to show your servant your greatness, and your strong hand: for what God is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to your works, and according to your mighty acts?

25Please let me go over and see the good land that is beyond the Jordan, that goodly mountain, and Lebanon." 26But ForeverOne was angry with me for your sakes, and didn't listen to me; and ForeverOne said to me, "Let it suffice you; speak no more to me of this matter.

27Go up to the top of Pisgah, and lift up your eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and see with your eyes: for you shall not go over this Jordan.

28But commission Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him; for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which you shall see." 29So we stayed in the valley over against Beth Peor.

Ezekiel 34:1-24

Ezekiel Chapter 34

1The word of ForeverOne came to me, saying, 2Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and tell them, even to the shepherds, Thus says LordOfMine ForeverOne: Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Shouldn't the shepherds feed the sheep?

3You eat the fat, and you clothe yourself with the wool, you kill the fatlings; but you don't feed the sheep.

4You haven't strengthened the diseased, neither have you healed what was sick, neither have you bound up what was broken, neither have you brought back what was driven away, neither have you sought what was lost; but with force and with rigor you have ruled over them.

5They were scattered, because there was no shepherd; and they became food to all the animals of the field, and were scattered.

6My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and on every high hill: yes, my sheep were scattered on all the surface of the earth; and there was none who searched or sought.

7Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of ForeverOne: 8As I live, says LordOfMine ForeverOne, surely because my sheep became a prey, and my sheep became food to all the animals of the field, because there was no shepherd, nor did my shepherds search for my sheep, but the shepherds fed themselves, and didn't feed my sheep; 9therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of ForeverOne: 10Thus says LordOfMine ForeverOne: Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my sheep at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the sheep; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more; and I will deliver my sheep from their mouth, that they may not be food for them.

11For thus says LordOfMine ForeverOne: Behold, I myself, even I, will search for my sheep, and will seek them out.

12As a shepherd seeks out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered abroad, so will I seek out my sheep; and I will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.

13I will bring them out from the peoples, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them into their own land; and I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the watercourses, and in all the inhabited places of the country.

14I will feed them with good pasture; and on the mountains of the height of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie down in a good fold; and on fat pasture shall they feed on the mountains of Israel.

15I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I will cause them to lie down, says LordOfMine ForeverOne.

16I will seek what was lost, and will bring back what was driven away, and will bind up what was broken, and will strengthen what was sick: but the fat and the strong I will destroy; I will feed them in justice.

17As for you, O my flock, thus says LordOfMine ForeverOne: Behold, I judge between sheep and sheep, the rams and the male goats.

18Does it seem a small thing to you to have fed on the good pasture, but you must tread down with your feet the residue of your pasture? and to have drunk of the clear waters, but you must foul the residue with your feet?

19As for my sheep, they eat what you have trodden with your feet, and they drink what you have fouled with your feet.

20Therefore thus says LordOfMine ForeverOne to them: Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep.

21Because you thrust with side and with shoulder, and push all the diseased with your horns, until you have scattered them abroad; 22therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between sheep and sheep.

23I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.

24I, ForeverOne, will be their God, and my servant David prince among them; I, ForeverOne, have spoken it.

Proverbs 21:4-31

Proverbs Chapter 21

4A high look, and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin.

5The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty.

6Getting treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor for those who seek death.

7The violence of the wicked will drive them away, because they refuse to do what is right.

8The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright.

9It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than to share a house with a contentious woman.

10The soul of the wicked desires evil; his neighbor finds no mercy in his eyes.

11When the mocker is punished, the simple gains wisdom. When the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.

12The Righteous One considers the house of the wicked, and brings the wicked to ruin.

13Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he will also cry out, but shall not be heard.

14A gift in secret pacifies anger; and a bribe in the cloak, strong wrath.

15It is joy to the righteous to do justice; but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.

16The man who wanders out of the way of understanding shall rest in the assembly of the dead.

17He who loves pleasure shall be a poor man. He who loves wine and oil shall not be rich.

18The wicked is a ransom for the righteous; the treacherous for the upright.

19It is better to dwell in a desert land, than with a contentious and fretful woman.

20There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man swallows it up.

21He who follows after righteousness and kindness finds life, righteousness, and honor.

22A wise man scales the city of the mighty, and brings down the strength of its confidence.

23Whoever guards his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles.

24The proud and haughty man, "scoffer" is his name; he works in the arrogance of pride.

25The desire of the sluggard kills him, for his hands refuse to labor.

26There are those who covet greedily all day long; but the righteous give and don't withhold.

27The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination: how much more, when he brings it with a wicked mind!

28A false witness will perish, and a man who listens speaks to eternity.

29A wicked man hardens his face; but as for the upright, he establishes his ways.

30There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against ForeverOne.

31The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but victory is with ForeverOne.

Section 4

Hebrews 1:1-2:8

22 verses

Hebrews Chapter 1

1God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2has at the end of these days spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom he also made the worlds.

3His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, upholding all things by the word of his power. Once he had made purification for our sins he sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 4having become as much better than the angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.

5For to which of the angels did he say at any time, "You are my Son. Today have I become your father?" and again, "I will be to him a Father, and he will be to me a Son?" 6Again, when he brings the firstborn into the world he says, "Let all the angels of God worship him." 7Of the angels he says, "He makes his angels winds, and his servants a flame of fire." 8But of the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your Kingdom.

9You have loved righteousness and hated iniquity; so God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows." 10And, "You, ForeverOne, at the beginning, laid the foundation of the earth; the heavens are the work of your hands.

11They will perish, but you continue. They all will grow old like a garment does.

12You will roll them up like a mantle and they will be changed. But you are the same; your years won't fail." 13But which of the angels has he told at any time, "Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet?" 14Aren't they all serving spirits, sent out to do service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?

Hebrews Chapter 2

1So we ought to pay greater attention to the things that were heard, lest perhaps we drift away.

2For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty, 3how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation - which at the first having been spoken through the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard; 4God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders, by various acts of power and by gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?

5For he didn't subject the world to come, of which we speak, to angels.

6But one has somewhere testified, saying, "What is man, that you think of him? Or the son of man, that you care for him?

7You made him a little lower than the angels. You crowned him with glory and honor. [TR adds "and set him over the actions of your hands"] 8You have put all things in subjection under his feet." For in that he subjected all things to him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we don't see all things subjected to him, yet.
