Deuteronomy 16:16-17:7

14 verses

Deuteronomy Chapter 16

16Three times in a year shall all your males appear before ForeverOne your God in the place which he shall choose: in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tents; and they shall not appear before ForeverOne empty-handed: 17every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of ForeverOne your God which he has given you.

18You shall make judges and officers in all your gates, which ForeverOne your God gives you, according to your tribes; and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.

19You shall not wrest justice: you shall not respect persons; neither shall you take a bribe; for a bribe does blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.

20You shall pursue what is altogether just, that you may live, and inherit the land which ForeverOne your God gives you.

21You shall not plant for yourselves an Asherah of any kind of tree beside the altar of ForeverOne your God, which you shall make for yourselves.

22Neither shall you set yourself up a pillar; which ForeverOne your God hates.

Deuteronomy Chapter 17

1You shall not sacrifice to ForeverOne your God an ox, or a sheep, in which is a blemish, [or] anything evil; for that is an abomination to ForeverOne your God.

2If there be found in the midst of you, within any of your gates which ForeverOne your God gives you, man or woman, who does what is evil in the sight of ForeverOne your God, in transgressing his covenant, 3and has gone and served other gods, and worshiped them, or the sun, or the moon, or any of the army of the sky, which I have not commanded; 4and it be told you, and you have heard of it, then you shall inquire diligently; and behold, if it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is done in Israel, 5then you shall bring out that man or that woman, who has done this evil thing, to your gates, even the man or the woman; and you shall stone them to death with stones.

6At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he who is to die be put to death; at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.

7The hand of the witnesses shall be first on him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. So you shall put away the evil from the midst of you.

Joel 2:1-27

Joel Chapter 2

1Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of ForeverOne comes, for it is close at hand: 2A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness. As the dawn spreading on the mountains, a great and strong people; there has never been the like, neither will there be any more after them, even to the years of many generations.

3A fire devours before them, and behind them, a flame burns. The land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them, a desolate wilderness. Yes, and no one has escaped them.

4The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses, and as horsemen, so do they run.

5Like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains do they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devours the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

6At their presence the peoples are in anguish. All faces have grown pale.

7They run like mighty men. They climb the wall like warriors. They each march in his line, and they don't swerve off course.

8Neither does one jostle another; they march everyone in his path, and they burst through the defenses, and don't break ranks.

9They rush on the city. They run on the wall. They climb up into the houses. They enter in at the windows like thieves.

10The earth quakes before them. The heavens tremble. The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.

11ForeverOne thunders his voice before his army; for his forces are very great; for he is strong who obeys his command; for the day of ForeverOne is great and very awesome, and who can endure it?

12"Yet even now," says ForeverOne, "turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning." 13Tear your heart, and not your garments, and turn to ForeverOne, your God; for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and relents from sending calamity.

14Who knows? He may turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meal offering and a drink offering to ForeverOne, your God.

15Blow the trumpet in Zion! Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly.

16Gather the people. Sanctify the assembly. Assemble the elders. Gather the children, and those who nurse from breasts. Let the bridegroom go forth from his room, and the bride out of her room.

17Let the priests, the ministers of ForeverOne, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, "Spare your people, ForeverOne, and don't give your heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, 'Where is their God?'" 18Then ForeverOne was jealous for his land, And had pity on his people.

19ForeverOne answered his people, "Behold, I will send you grain, new wine, and oil, and you will be satisfied with them; and I will no more make you a reproach among the nations.

20But I will remove the northern army far away from you, and will drive it into a barren and desolate land, its front into the eastern sea, and its back into the western sea; and its stench will come up, and its bad smell will rise." Surely he has done great things.

21Land, don't be afraid. Be glad and rejoice, for ForeverOne has done great things.

22Don't be afraid, you animals of the field; for the pastures of the wilderness spring up, for the tree bears its fruit. The fig tree and the vine yield their strength.

23"Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in ForeverOne, your God; for he gives you the former rain in just measure, and he causes the rain to come down for you, the former rain and the latter rain, as before.

24The threshing floors will be full of wheat, and the vats will overflow with new wine and oil.

25I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the great locust, the grasshopper, and the caterpillar, my great army, which I sent among you.

26You will have plenty to eat, and be satisfied, and will praise the name of ForeverOne, your God, who has dealt wondrously with you; and my people will never again be disappointed.

27You will know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am ForeverOne, your God, and there is no one else; and my people will never again be disappointed.

Song of Songs 4:1-5:8

24 verses

Song of Songs Chapter 4

1Behold, you are beautiful, my love. Behold, you are beautiful. Your eyes are doves behind your veil. Your hair is as a flock of goats, that descend from Mount Gilead.

2Your teeth are like a newly shorn flock, which have come up from the washing, where every one of them has twins. None is bereaved among them.

3Your lips are like scarlet thread. Your mouth is lovely. Your temples are like a piece of a pomegranate behind your veil.

4Your neck is like David's tower built for an armory, where a thousand shields hang, all the shields of the mighty men.

5Your two breasts are like two fawns that are twins of a roe, which feed among the lilies.

6Until the day is cool, and the shadows flee away, I will go to the mountain of myrrh, to the hill of frankincense.

7You are all beautiful, my love. There is no spot in you.

8Come with me from Lebanon, my bride, with me from Lebanon. Look from the top of Amana, from the top of Senir and Hermon, from the lions' dens, from the mountains of the leopards.

9You have ravished my heart, my sister, my bride. You have ravished my heart with one of your eyes, with one chain of your neck.

10How beautiful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much better is your love than wine! The fragrance of your perfumes than all kinds of spices!

11Your lips, my bride, drip like the honeycomb. Honey and milk are under your tongue. The smell of your garments is like the smell of Lebanon.

12A locked up garden is my sister, my bride; a locked up spring, a sealed fountain.

13Your shoots are an orchard of pomegranates, with precious fruits: henna with spikenard plants, 14spikenard and saffron, calamus and cinnamon, with every kind of incense tree; myrrh and aloes, with all the best spices, 15a fountain of gardens, a well of living waters, flowing streams from Lebanon. Beloved 16Awake, north wind; and come, you south! Blow on my garden, that its spices may flow out. Let my beloved enter his garden, and taste his precious fruits. Lover

Song of Songs Chapter 5

1I have entered my garden, my sister, my bride. I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk. Friends Eat, friends! Drink, yes, drink abundantly, beloved. Beloved 2I was asleep, but my heart was awake. It is the voice of my beloved who knocks: "Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled; for my head is filled with dew, and my hair with the dampness of the night." 3I have taken off my robe. Indeed, must I put it on? I have washed my feet. Indeed, must I soil them?

4My beloved thrust his hand in through the latch opening. My heart pounded for him.

5I rose up to open for my beloved. My hands dripped with myrrh, my fingers with liquid myrrh, on the handles of the lock.

6I opened to my beloved; but my beloved left; and had gone away. My heart went out when he spoke. I looked for him, but I didn't find him. I called him, but he didn't answer.

7The watchmen who go about the city found me. They beat me. They bruised me. The keepers of the walls took my cloak away from me.

8I adjure you, daughters of Jerusalem, If you find my beloved, that you tell him that I am faint with love. Friends

2 Peter 2:9-22

2 Peter Chapter 2

9the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment, 10but chiefly those who walk after the flesh in the lust of defilement and despise authority. Daring, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries; 11whereas angels, though greater in might and power, don't bring a railing judgment against them before the Lord.

12But these, as unreasoning creatures, born natural animals to be taken and destroyed, speaking evil in matters about which they are ignorant, will in their destroying surely be destroyed, 13receiving the wages of unrighteousness; people who count it pleasure to revel in the daytime, spots and defects, reveling in their deceit while they feast with you; 14having eyes full of adultery, and who can't cease from sin; enticing unsettled souls; having a heart trained in greed; children of cursing; 15forsaking the right way, they went astray, having followed the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of wrongdoing; 16but he was rebuked for his own disobedience. A mute donkey spoke with a man's voice and stopped the madness of the prophet.

17These are wells without water, clouds driven by a storm; for whom the blackness of darkness has been reserved forever.

18For, uttering great swelling words of emptiness, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by licentiousness, those who are indeed escaping from those who live in error; 19promising them liberty, while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for a man is brought into slavery by whoever overcomes him.

20For if, after they have escaped the defilement of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus AnointedOne, they are again entangled in it and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.

21For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them.

22But it has happened to them according to the true proverb, "The dog turns to his own vomit again," and "the sow that has washed to wallowing in the mire."
