Exodus Chapter 32

¹¹Moses begged ForeverOne his God, and said, "ForeverOne, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, that you have brought here out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?

¹²Why should the Egyptians speak, saying, 'He brought them out for evil, to kill them in the mountains, and to consume them from the surface of the earth?' Turn from your fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against your people.

¹³Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, 'I will multiply your offspring as the stars of the sky, and all this land that I have spoken of I will give to your offspring, and they shall inherit it forever.'" ¹⁴ForeverOne repented of the evil which he said he would do to his people.

¹⁵Moses turned, and went down from the mountain, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand; tablets that were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other they were written.

¹⁶The tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets.

¹⁷When Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, "There is the noise of war in the camp." ¹⁸He said, "It isn't the voice of those who shout for victory, nor is it the voice of those who cry for being overcome. But I hear the noise of those who sing." ¹⁹As soon as he came near to the camp, he saw the calf and the dancing: and Moses' anger grew hot, and he threw the tablets out of his hands, and broke them beneath the mountain.

²⁰He took the calf which they had made, and burned it with fire, ground it to powder, and scattered it on the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

²¹Moses said to Aaron, "What did these people do to you, that you have brought a great sin on them?" ²²Aaron said, "Don't let the anger of my lord grow hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil.

²³For they said to me, 'Make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we don't know what has become of him.' ²⁴I said to them, 'Whoever has any gold, let them take it off:' so they gave it to me; and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf."

2 Kings Chapter 6

⁸Now the king of Syria was warring against Israel; and he took counsel with his servants, saying, "My camp will be in such and such a place." ⁹The man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, "Beware that you not pass such a place; for the Syrians are coming down there." ¹⁰The king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of; and he saved himself there, not once nor twice.

¹¹The heart of the king of Syria was very troubled about this. He called his servants, and said to them, "Won't you show me which of us is for the king of Israel?" ¹²One of his servants said, "No, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom." ¹³He said, "Go and see where he is, that I may send and get him." He was told, saying, "Behold, he is in Dothan." ¹⁴Therefore he sent horses, chariots, and a great army there. They came by night, and surrounded the city.

¹⁵When the servant of the man of God had risen early, and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was around the city. His servant said to him, "Alas, my master! What shall we do?" ¹⁶He answered, "Don't be afraid; for those who are with us are more than those who are with them." ¹⁷Elisha prayed, and said, "ForeverOne, please open his eyes, that he may see." ForeverOne opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire around Elisha.

¹⁸When they came down to him, Elisha prayed to ForeverOne, and said, "Please strike this people with blindness." He struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.

¹⁹Elisha said to them, "This is not the way, neither is this the city. Follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom you seek." He led them to Samaria.

²⁰When they had entered Samaria, Elisha said, "ForeverOne, open the eyes of these men, that they may see." ForeverOne opened their eyes, and they saw; and behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.

²¹The king of Israel said to Elisha, when he saw them, "My father, shall I strike them? Shall I strike them?" ²²He answered, "You shall not strike them. Would you strike those whom you have taken captive with your sword and with your bow? Set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master." ²³He prepared great feast for them. When they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. The bands of Syria stopped raiding the land of Israel.

²⁴After this Benhadad king of Syria gathered all his army, and went up and besieged Samaria.

²⁵There was a great famine in Samaria. Behold, they besieged it, until a donkey's head was sold for eighty pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove's dung for five pieces of silver.

²⁶As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, saying, "Help, my lord, O king!" ²⁷He said, "If ForeverOne doesn't help you, from where could I help you? From of the threshing floor, or from the winepress?" ²⁸The king said to her, "What troubles you?" She answered, "This woman said to me, 'Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.' ²⁹So we boiled my son, and ate him: and I said to her on the next day, 'Give your son, that we may eat him;' and she has hidden her son." ³⁰When the king heard the words of the woman, he tore his clothes (now he was passing by on the wall); and the people looked, and behold, he had sackcloth underneath on his flesh.

³¹Then he said, "May God so deal with me, and even more, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stay on him today." ³²But Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. Then the king sent a man from before him; but before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, "Do you see how this son of a murderer has sent to take away my head? Behold, when the messenger comes, shut the door, and hold the door shut against him. Isn't the sound of his master's feet behind him?" ³³While he was still talking with them, behold, the messenger came down to him. Then he said, "Behold, this evil is from ForeverOne. Why should I wait for ForeverOne any longer?"

Esther Chapter 6

⁴The king said, "Who is in the court?" Now Haman had entered the outer court of the king's house, to speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.

⁵The king's servants said to him, "Behold, Haman stands in the court." The king said, "Let him come in." ⁶So Haman came in. The king said to him, "What shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honor?" Now Haman said in his heart, "Who would the king delight to honor more than myself?" ⁷Haman said to the king, "For the man whom the king delights to honor, ⁸let royal clothing be brought which the king uses to wear, and the horse that the king rides on, and on the head of which a crown royal is set.

⁹Let the clothing and the horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king's most noble princes, that they may array the man whom the king delights to honor with them, and have him ride on horseback through the city square, and proclaim before him, 'Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!'" ¹⁰Then the king said to Haman, "Hurry and take the clothing and the horse, as you have said, and do this for Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king's gate. Let nothing fail of all that you have spoken." ¹¹Then Haman took the clothing and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and had him ride through the city square, and proclaimed before him, "Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!" ¹²Mordecai came back to the king's gate, but Haman hurried to his house, mourning and having his head covered.

¹³Haman recounted to Zeresh his wife and all his friends everything that had happened to him. Then his wise men and Zeresh his wife said to him, "If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of Jewish descent, you will not prevail against him, but you will surely fall before him." ¹⁴While they were yet talking with him, the king's eunuchs came, and hurried to bring Haman to the banquet that Esther had prepared.

Esther Chapter 7

¹So the king and Haman came to banquet with Esther the queen.

²The king said again to Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine, "What is your petition, queen Esther? It shall be granted you. What is your request? Even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed." ³Then Esther the queen answered, "If I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request.

⁴For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondservants and bondmaids, I would have held my peace, although the adversary could not have compensated for the king's loss." ⁵Then King Ahasuerus said to Esther the queen, "Who is he, and where is he who dared presume in his heart to do so?" ⁶Esther said, "An adversary and an enemy, even this wicked Haman!" Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen.

John Chapter 8

⁴⁸Then the Jews answered him, "Don't we say well that you are a Samaritan, and have a demon?" ⁴⁹Jesus answered, "I don't have a demon, but I honor my Father and you dishonor me.

⁵⁰But I don't seek my own glory. There is one who seeks and judges.

⁵¹Most certainly, I tell you, if a person keeps my word, he will never see death." ⁵²Then the Jews said to him, "Now we know that you do have a demon. Abraham died, and so did the prophets; and you say, 'If a man keeps my word, he will never taste of death.' ⁵³Are you greater than our father, Abraham, who died? The prophets died. Who do you make yourself out to be?" ⁵⁴Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say that he is our God.

⁵⁵You have not known him, but I know him. If I said, 'I don't know him,' I would be like you, a liar. But I do know him and keep his word.

⁵⁶Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day. He saw it, and was glad." ⁵⁷So the Jews said to him, "You are not yet fifty years old! Have you seen Abraham?" ⁵⁸Jesus said to them, "Most certainly, I tell you, before Abraham came into existence, I AM." ⁵⁹So they took up stones to throw at him, but Jesus was hidden, and went out of the temple, having gone through the middle of them, and so passed by.

John Chapter 9

¹As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth.

²His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" ³Jesus answered, "Not for his sin, nor his parents'; but so that the work of God might be revealed in him.

⁴I must do the work of him who sent me while it is day. The night is coming, when no one can work.

⁵While I am in the world, I am the light of the world." ⁶When he had said this, he spat on the ground, made mud with the saliva, anointed the blind man's eyes with the mud, ⁷and said to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam" (which means "Sent"). So he went away, washed, and came back seeing.

⁸So the neighbors, and those who saw that he was blind before, said "Isn't this he who sat and begged?" ⁹Others were saying, "It is he." Still others were saying, "He looks like him." He said, "I am he." ¹⁰So they were asking him, "How were your eyes opened?" ¹¹He answered, "A man called Jesus made mud, anointed my eyes, and said to me, 'Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.' So I went away and washed, and I received sight." ¹²Then they asked him, "Where is he?" He said, "I don't know."
