Jeremiah 21:1-22:7

Jeremiah Chapter 21

1The word which came to Jeremiah from ForeverOne, when king Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur the son of Malchijah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, saying, 2Please inquire of ForeverOne for us; for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon makes war against us: perhaps ForeverOne will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.

3Then Jeremiah said to them, You shall tell Zedekiah: 4Thus says ForeverOne, the God of Israel, Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, with which you fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans who besiege you, without the walls; and I will gather them into the midst of this city.

5I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation.

6I will strike the inhabitants of this city, both man and animal: they shall die of a great pestilence.

7Afterward, says ForeverOne, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, even those who are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those who seek their life: and he shall strike them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy.

8To this people you shall say, Thus says ForeverOne: Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death.

9He who remains in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence; but he who goes out, and passes over to the Chaldeans who besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be to him for a prey.

10For I have set my face on this city for evil, and not for good, says ForeverOne: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.

11Touching the house of the king of Judah, hear the word of ForeverOne: 12House of David, thus says ForeverOne, Execute justice in the morning, and deliver him who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my wrath go forth like fire, and burn so that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

13Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, [and] of the rock of the plain, says ForeverOne; you that say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations?

14I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, says ForeverOne; and I will kindle a fire in her forest, and it shall devour all that is around her.

Jeremiah Chapter 22

1Thus said ForeverOne: Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word, 2Say, Hear the word of ForeverOne, king of Judah, who sits on the throne of David, you, and your servants, and your people who enter in by these gates.

3Thus says ForeverOne: Execute justice and righteousness, and deliver him who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence, to the foreigner, the fatherless, nor the widow; neither shed innocent blood in this place.

4For if you do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.

5But if you will not hear these words, I swear by myself, says ForeverOne, that this house shall become a desolation.

6For thus says ForeverOne concerning the house of the king of Judah: You are Gilead to me, [and] the head of Lebanon; [yet] surely I will make you a wilderness, [and] cities which are not inhabited.

7I will prepare destroyers against you, everyone with his weapons; and they shall cut down your choice cedars, and throw them into the fire.

Section 3

Psalm 75-76

24 verses

Psalm 75

For the Chief Musician. To the tune of "Do Not Destroy." A Psalm by Asaph. A song.

1We give thanks to you, God. We give thanks, for your Name is near. Men tell about your wondrous works.

2When I choose the appointed time, I will judge blamelessly.

3The earth and all its inhabitants quake. I firmly hold its pillars. Selah.

4I said to the arrogant, "Don't boast!" I said to the wicked, "Don't lift up the horn.

5Don't lift up your horn on high. Don't speak with a stiff neck." 6For neither from the east, nor from the west, nor yet from the south, comes exaltation.

7But God is the judge. He puts down one, and lifts up another.

8For in the hand of ForeverOne there is a cup, full of foaming wine mixed with spices. He pours it out. Indeed the wicked of the earth drink and drink it to its very dregs.

9But I will declare this forever: I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

10I will cut off all the horns of the wicked, but the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up.

Psalm 76

For the Chief Musician. On stringed instruments. A Psalm by Asaph. A song.

1In Judah, God is known. His name is great in Israel.

2His tabernacle is also in Salem; His dwelling place in Zion.

3There he broke the flaming arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the weapons of war. Selah.

4Glorious are you, and excellent, more than mountains of game.

5Valiant men lie plundered, they have slept their last sleep. None of the men of war can lift their hands.

6At your rebuke, God of Jacob, both chariot and horse are thrown into a deep sleep.

7You, even you, are to be feared. Who can stand in your sight when you are angry?

8You pronounced judgment from heaven. The earth feared, and was silent, 9when God arose to judgment, to save all the afflicted ones of the earth. Selah.

10Surely the wrath of man praises you. The survivors of your wrath are restrained.

11Make vows to ForeverOne your God, and fulfill them! Let all of his neighbors bring presents to him who is to be feared.

12He will cut off the spirit of princes. He is feared by the kings of the earth.

1 Corinthians 1:1-25

25 verses

1 Corinthians Chapter 1

1Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus AnointedOne through the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes, 2to the assembly of God which is at Corinth- those who are sanctified in AnointedOne Jesus, called saints, with all who call on the name of our Lord Jesus AnointedOne in every place, both theirs and ours: 3Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus AnointedOne.

4I always thank my God concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in AnointedOne Jesus; 5that in everything you were enriched in him, in all speech and all knowledge; 6even as the testimony of the AnointedOne was confirmed in you: 7so that you come behind in no gift; waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus AnointedOne; 8who will also confirm you until the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus AnointedOne.

9God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus AnointedOne, our Lord.

10Now I beg you, brothers, through the name of our Lord Jesus AnointedOne, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

11For it has been reported to me concerning you, my brothers, by those who are from Chloe's household, that there are contentions among you.

12Now I mean this, that each one of you says, "I follow Paul," "I follow Apollos," "I follow Cephas," and, "I follow the AnointedOne." 13Is the AnointedOne divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized into the name of Paul?

14I thank God that I baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius, 15so that no one should say that I had baptized you into my own name.

16(I also baptized the household of Stephanas; besides them, I don't know whether I baptized any other.) 17For the AnointedOne sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Good News- not in wisdom of words, so that the cross of the AnointedOne wouldn't be made void.

18For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are dying, but to us who are saved it is the power of God.

19For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, I will bring the discernment of the discerning to nothing." 20Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the lawyer of this world? Hasn't God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

21For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom didn't know God, it was God's good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe.

22For Jews ask for signs, Greeks seek after wisdom, 23but we preach the AnointedOne crucified: a stumbling block to Jews, and foolishness to Greeks, 24but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, the AnointedOne is the power of God and the wisdom of God.

25For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
