Genesis Chapter 18

26ForeverOne said, "If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare the whole place for their sake." 27Abraham answered, "See now, I have taken it on myself to speak to LordOfMine, though I am but dust and ashes.

28What if there will lack five of the fifty righteous? Will you destroy all the city for lack of five?" He said, "I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there." 29He spoke to him yet again, and said, "What if there are forty found there?" He said, "I will not do it for the forty's sake." 30He said, "Oh don't let the LordOfMine be angry, and I will speak. What if there are thirty found there?" He said, "I will not do it if I find thirty there." 31He said, "See now, I have taken it on myself to speak to LordOfMine. What if there are twenty found there?" He said, "I will not destroy it for the twenty's sake." 32He said, "Oh don't let LordOfMine be angry, and I will speak just once more. What if ten are found there?" He said, "I will not destroy it for the ten's sake." 33ForeverOne went his way as soon as he had finished talking with Abraham, and Abraham returned to his place.

Genesis Chapter 19

1The two angels came to Sodom at evening. Lot sat in the gate of Sodom. Lot saw them, and rose up to meet them. He bowed himself with his face to the earth, 2and he said, "See now, my lords, please come in to your servant's house, stay all night, wash your feet, and you can rise up early, and go on your way." They said, "No. We will stay in the street all night." 3He urged them greatly, and they came in with him, and entered into his house. He made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.

4But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter.

5They called to Lot, and said to him, "Where are the men who came in to you this night? Bring them out to us, that we may have sex with them." 6Lot went out the door to them, and shut the door after himself.

7He said, "Please, my brothers, don't act so wickedly.

8See now, I have two virgin daughters. Please let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them what seems good to you. Only don't do anything to these men, because they have come under the shadow of my roof." 9They said, "Stand back!" Then they said, "This one fellow came in to live as a foreigner, and he appoints himself a judge. Now we will deal worse with you than with them!" They pressed hard on the man Lot, and drew near to break the door.

10But the men reached out their hand, and brought Lot into the house with them, and shut the door.

11They struck the men who were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

Judges 1:1-28

Judges Chapter 1

1After the death of Joshua, the children of Israel asked of ForeverOne, saying, "Who should go up for us first against the Canaanites, to fight against them?" 2ForeverOne said, "Judah shall go up. Behold, I have delivered the land into his hand." 3Judah said to Simeon his brother, "Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with you into your lot." So Simeon went with him.

4Judah went up; and ForeverOne delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they struck of them in Bezek ten thousand men.

5They found Adoni-Bezek in Bezek; and they fought against him, and they struck the Canaanites and the Perizzites.

6But Adoni-Bezek fled; and they pursued him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.

7Adoni-Bezek said, "Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered [their food] under my table: as I have done, so God has requited me." They brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.

8The children of Judah fought against Jerusalem, and took it, and struck it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.

9Afterward the children of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites who lived in the hill country, and in the South, and in the lowland.

10Judah went against the Canaanites who lived in Hebron (now the name of Hebron before was Kiriath Arba); and they struck Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.

11From there he went against the inhabitants of Debir. (Now the name of Debir before was Kiriath Sepher.) 12Caleb said, "He who strikes Kiriath Sepher, and takes it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter [to be his] wife." 13Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter [to be his] wife.

14When she came, she urged him to ask her father for a field. She got down from her donkey; and Caleb said to her, "What would you like?" 15She said to him, "Give me a blessing; for that you have set me in the land of the South, give me also springs of water." Then Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

16The children of the Kenite, Moses' brother-in-law, went up out of the city of palm trees with the children of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which is in the south of Arad; and they went and lived with the people.

17Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they struck the Canaanites who inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. The name of the city was called Hormah.

18Also Judah took Gaza with its border, and Ashkelon with its border, and Ekron with its border.

19ForeverOne was with Judah; and drove out [the inhabitants of] the hill country; for he could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.

20They gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses had spoken: and he drove out there the three sons of Anak.

21The children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites who inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.

22The house of Joseph, they also went up against Bethel; and ForeverOne was with them.

23The house of Joseph sent to spy out Bethel. (Now the name of the city before was Luz.) 24The watchers saw a man come out of the city, and they said to him, "Please show us the entrance into the city, and we will deal kindly with you." 25He showed them the entrance into the city; and they struck the city with the edge of the sword; but they let the man go and all his family.

26The man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called its name Luz, which is its name to this day.

27Manasseh did not drive out [the inhabitants of] Beth Shean and its towns, nor [of] Taanach and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

28When Israel had grown strong, they put the Canaanites to forced labor, and did not utterly drive them out.

1 Chronicles 12:16-30

15 verses

1 Chronicles Chapter 12

16There came of the children of Benjamin and Judah to the stronghold to David.

17David went out to meet them, and answered them, "If you have come peaceably to me to help me, my heart shall be knit to you; but if you have come to betray me to my adversaries, since there is no wrong in my hands, may the God of our fathers see it, and rebuke it." 18Then the Spirit came on Amasai, who was chief of the thirty, [and he said], "We are yours, David, and on your side, you son of Jesse: peace, peace be to you, and peace be to your helpers; for your God helps you." Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.

19Of Manasseh also there fell away some to David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle; but they didn't help them; for the lords of the Philistines sent him away after consultation, saying, "He will fall away to his master Saul to the jeopardy of our heads." 20As he went to Ziklag, there fell to him of Manasseh, Adnah, and Jozabad, and Jediael, and Michael, and Jozabad, and Elihu, and Zillethai, captains of thousands who were of Manasseh.

21They helped David against the band of rovers: for they were all mighty men of valor, and were captains in the army.

22For from day to day men came to David to help him, until there was a great army, like the army of God.

23These are the numbers of the heads of those who were armed for war, who came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of ForeverOne.

24The children of Judah who bore shield and spear were six thousand and eight hundred, armed for war.

25Of the children of Simeon, mighty men of valor for the war, seven thousand and one hundred.

26Of the children of Levi four thousand and six hundred.

27Jehoiada was the leader of [the house of] Aaron; and with him were three thousand and seven hundred, 28and Zadok, a young man mighty of valor, and of his father's house twenty-two captains.

29Of the children of Benjamin, the brothers of Saul, three thousand: for hitherto the greatest part of them had kept their allegiance to the house of Saul.

30Of the children of Ephraim twenty thousand eight hundred, mighty men of valor, famous men in their fathers' houses.

Matthew 16:24-17:21

26 verses

Matthew Chapter 16

24Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.

25For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it.

26For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?

27For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will render to everyone according to his deeds.

28Most certainly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste of death until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom."

Matthew Chapter 17

1After six days, Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John his brother, and brought them up into a high mountain by themselves.

2He was transformed before them. His face shone like the sun, and his garments became as white as the light.

3Behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them talking with him.

4Peter answered and said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you want, let's make three tents here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." 5While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them. Behold, a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is my dear Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him." 6When the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces, and were very afraid.

7Jesus came and touched them and said, "Get up, and don't be afraid." 8Lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, except Jesus alone.

9As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, "Don't tell anyone what you saw, until the Son of Man has risen from the dead." 10His disciples asked him, saying, "Then why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?" 11Jesus answered them, "Elijah indeed comes first, and will restore all things; 12but I tell you that Elijah has come already, and they didn't recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted to. Even so the Son of Man will also suffer by them." 13Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them of John the Baptizer.

14When they came to the multitude, a man came to him, kneeling down to him and saying, 15"Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is epileptic and suffers grievously; for he often falls into the fire, and often into the water.

16So I brought him to your disciples, and they could not cure him." 17Jesus answered, "Faithless and perverse generation! How long will I be with you? How long will I bear with you? Bring him here to me." 18Jesus rebuked it and the demon went out of him, and the boy was cured from that hour.

19Then the disciples came to Jesus privately, and said, "Why weren't we able to cast it out?" 20He said to them, "Because of your unbelief. For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
