Readings for November 25:

First, Deuteronomy Chapter 14 verses 9 to 27. Follow that by reading from Hosea Chapter 8 verse 11 to Chapter 10 verse 8. The third part is from Ecclesiastes Chapter 10 verse 2 to Chapter 11 verse 6; and lastly from 1 Peter Chapter 2 verse 18 to Chapter 3 verse 12

Deuteronomy Chapter 14

⁹These you may eat of all that are in the waters: whatever has fins and scales may you eat; ¹⁰and whatever doesn't have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean to you.

¹¹Of all clean birds you may eat.

¹²But these are they of which you shall not eat: the eagle, and the vulture, and the osprey, ¹³and the red kite, and the falcon, and the kite after its kind, ¹⁴and every raven after its kind, ¹⁵and the ostrich, and the owl, and the seagull, and the hawk after its kind, ¹⁶the little owl, and the great owl, and the horned owl, ¹⁷and the pelican, and the vulture, and the cormorant, ¹⁸and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.

¹⁹All winged creeping things are unclean to you: they shall not be eaten.

²⁰Of all clean birds you may eat.

²¹You shall not eat of anything that dies of itself: you may give it to the foreigner living among you who is within your gates, that he may eat it; or you may sell it to a foreigner: for you are a holy people to ForeverOne your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother's milk.

²²You shall surely tithe all the increase of your seed, what comes out from the field year by year.

²³You shall eat before ForeverOne your God, in the place which he shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock; that you may learn to fear ForeverOne your God always.

²⁴If the way is too long for you, so that you are not able to carry it, because the place is too far from you, which ForeverOne your God shall choose, to set his name there, when ForeverOne your God shall bless you; ²⁵then you shall turn it into money, and bind up the money in your hand, and shall go to the place which ForeverOne your God shall choose: ²⁶and you shall bestow the money for whatever your soul desires, for cattle, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatever your soul asks of you; and you shall eat there before ForeverOne your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your household.

²⁷The Levite who is within your gates, you shall not forsake him; for he has no portion nor inheritance with you.

Section 2

Hosea 8:11-10:8

Hosea Chapter 8

¹¹Because Ephraim has multiplied altars for sinning, they became for him altars for sinning.

¹²I wrote for him the many things of my law; but they were regarded as a strange thing.

¹³As for the sacrifices of my offerings, they sacrifice flesh and eat it; But ForeverOne doesn't accept them. Now he will remember their iniquity, and punish their sins. They will return to Egypt.

¹⁴For Israel has forgotten his Maker and built palaces; and Judah has multiplied fortified cities; but I will send a fire on his cities, and it will devour its fortresses."

Hosea Chapter 9

¹Don't rejoice, Israel, to jubilation like the nations; for you were unfaithful to your God. You love the wages of a prostitute at every grain threshing floor.

²The threshing floor and the winepress won't feed them, and the new wine will fail her.

³They won't dwell in ForeverOne's land; but Ephraim will return to Egypt, and they will eat unclean food in Assyria.

⁴They won't pour out wine offerings to ForeverOne, neither will they be pleasing to him. Their sacrifices will be to them like the bread of mourners; all who eat of it will be polluted; for their bread will be for their appetite. It will not enter the house of ForeverOne.

⁵What will you do in the day of solemn assembly, and in the day of the feast of ForeverOne?

⁶For, behold, they have gone away from destruction. Egypt will gather them up. Memphis will bury them. Nettles will possess their pleasant things of silver. Thorns will be in their tents.

⁷The days of visitation have come. The days of reckoning have come. Israel will consider the prophet to be a fool, and the man who is inspired to be insane, because of the abundance of your sins, and because your hostility is great.

⁸A prophet watches over Ephraim with my God. A fowler's snare is on all of his paths, and hostility in the house of his God.

⁹They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah. He will remember their iniquity. He will punish them for their sins.

¹⁰I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness. I saw your fathers as the first ripe in the fig tree at its first season; but they came to Baal Peor, and consecrated themselves to the shameful thing, and became abominable like what they loved.

¹¹As for Ephraim, their glory will fly away like a bird. There will be no birth, none with child, and no conception.

¹²Though they bring up their children, yet I will bereave them, so that not a man shall be left. Indeed, woe also to them when I depart from them!

¹³I have seen Ephraim, like Tyre, planted in a pleasant place; but Ephraim will bring out his children to the murderer.

¹⁴Give them - ForeverOne what will you give? Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.

¹⁵"All their wickedness is in Gilgal; for there I hated them. Because of the wickedness of their deeds I will drive them out of my house! I will love them no more. All their princes are rebels.

¹⁶Ephraim is struck. Their root has dried up. They will bear no fruit. Even though they produce, yet I will kill the beloved ones of their womb." ¹⁷My God will throw them away, because they did not listen to him; and they will be wanderers among the nations.

Hosea Chapter 10

¹Israel is a luxuriant vine that puts forth his fruit. According to the abundance of his fruit he has multiplied his altars. As their land has prospered, they have adorned their sacred stones.

²Their heart is divided. Now they will be found guilty. He will demolish their altars. He will destroy their sacred stones.

³Surely now they will say, "We have no king; for we don't fear ForeverOne; and the king, what can he do for us?" ⁴They make promises, swearing falsely in making covenants. Therefore judgment springs up like poisonous weeds in the furrows of the field.

⁵The inhabitants of Samaria will be in terror for the calves of Beth Aven; for its people will mourn over it, Along with its priests who rejoiced over it, for its glory, because it has departed from it.

⁶It also will be carried to Assyria as a gift for a great king. Ephraim will receive shame, and Israel will be ashamed of his own counsel.

⁷Samaria and her king float away, like a twig on the water.

⁸The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, will be destroyed. The thorn and the thistle will come up on their altars. They will tell the mountains, "Cover us!" and the hills, "Fall on us!"

Ecclesiastes 10:2-11:6

Ecclesiastes Chapter 10

²A wise man's heart is at his right hand, but a fool's heart at his left.

³Yes also, when the fool walks along the road, his understanding fails him, and he says to everyone that he is a fool.

⁴If the spirit of the ruler rises up against you, don't leave your place; for gentleness lays great offenses to rest.

⁵There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, the sort of error which proceeds from the ruler.

⁶Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in a low place.

⁷I have seen servants on horses, and princes walking like servants on the earth.

⁸He who digs a pit may fall into it; and whoever breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake.

⁹Whoever carves out stones may be injured by them. Whoever splits wood may be endangered thereby.

¹⁰If the axe is blunt, and one doesn't sharpen the edge, then he must use more strength; but skill brings success.

¹¹If the snake bites before it is charmed, then there is no profit for the charmer.

¹²The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but a fool is swallowed by his own lips.

¹³The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness; and the end of his talk is mischievous madness.

¹⁴A fool also multiplies words. Man doesn't know what will be; and what will be after him, who can tell him?

¹⁵The labor of fools wearies every one of them; for he doesn't know how to go to the city.

¹⁶Woe to you, land, when your king is a child, and your princes eat in the morning!

¹⁷Happy are you, land, when your king is the son of nobles, and your princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!

¹⁸By slothfulness the roof sinks in; and through idleness of the hands the house leaks.

¹⁹A feast is made for laughter, and wine makes the life glad; and money is the answer for all things.

²⁰Don't curse the king, no, not in your thoughts; and don't curse the rich in your bedroom: for a bird of the sky may carry your voice, and what has wings may tell the matter.

Ecclesiastes Chapter 11

¹Throw your bread on the waters; for you shall find it after many days.

²Give a portion to seven, yes, even to eight; for you don't know what evil will be on the earth.

³If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves on the earth; and if a tree falls toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falls, there shall it be.

⁴He who observes the wind won't sow; and he who regards the clouds won't reap.

⁵As you don't know what is the way of the wind, nor how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child; even so you don't know the work of God who does all.

⁶In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening don't withhold your hand; for you don't know which will prosper, whether this or that, or whether they both will be equally good.

Section 4

1 Peter 2:18-3:12

1 Peter Chapter 2

¹⁸Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all respect: not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked.

¹⁹For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God.

²⁰For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if, when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.

²¹For you were called to this, because the AnointedOne also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps, ²²who didn't sin, "neither was deceit found in his mouth." ²³When he was cursed, he didn't curse back. When he suffered, he didn't threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously.

²⁴He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed by his wounds.

²⁵For you were going astray like sheep; but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

1 Peter Chapter 3

¹In the same way, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any don't obey the Word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word, ²seeing your pure behavior in fear.

³Let your beauty be not just the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on fine clothing; ⁴but in the hidden person of the heart, in the permanent adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.

⁵For this is how in the past, the holy women who hoped in God also adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands.

⁶as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him Lord, whose children you now are, if you do well, and are not put in fear by any terror.

⁷You husbands, in the same way, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as also being joint heirs of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.

⁸Finally, all of you be like-minded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, courteous, ⁹not rendering evil for evil, or insult for insult; but instead blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.

¹⁰For, "He who would love life, and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit.

¹¹Let him turn away from evil and do good. Let him seek peace and pursue it.

¹²For the eyes of ForeverOne are on the righteous, and his ears open to their prayer; but the face of ForeverOne is against those who do evil."
