Exodus 13:17-14:9

15 verses

Exodus Chapter 13

17When Pharaoh had let the people go God didn't lead them by the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, "Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and they return to Egypt;" 18but God led the people around by the way of the wilderness by the Red Sea; and the children of Israel went up armed out of the land of Egypt.

19Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, for he had made the children of Israel swear, saying, "God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones away from here with you." 20They took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.

21ForeverOne went before them by day in a pillar of cloud, to lead them on their way, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light, that they might go by day and by night: 22the pillar of cloud by day, and the pillar of fire by night, didn't depart from before the people.

Exodus Chapter 14

1ForeverOne spoke to Moses, saying, 2"Speak to the children of Israel, that they turn back and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, before Baal Zephon. You shall encamp opposite it by the sea.

3Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, 'They are entangled in the land. The wilderness has shut them in.' 4I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them; and I will get honor over Pharaoh, and over all his armies; and the Egyptians shall know that I am ForeverOne." They did so.

5The king of Egypt was told that the people had fled; and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was changed towards the people, and they said, "What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?" 6He prepared his chariot, and took his army with him; 7and he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over all of them.

8ForeverOne hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel; for the children of Israel went out with a high hand.

9The Egyptians pursued after them: all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen, and his army; and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baal Zephon.

1 Kings 2:26-46

1 Kings Chapter 2

26To Abiathar the priest the king said, "Go to Anathoth, to your own fields; for you are worthy of death. But I will not at this time put you to death, because you bore the ark of LordOfMine ForeverOne before David my father, and because you were afflicted in all in which my father was afflicted." 27So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest to ForeverOne, that he might fulfill the word of ForeverOne, which he spoke concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.

28The news came to Joab; for Joab had turned after Adonijah, though he didn't turn after Absalom. Joab fled to the Tent of ForeverOne, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.

29King Solomon was told, "Joab has fled to the Tent of ForeverOne, and behold, he is by the altar." Then Solomon sent Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, saying, "Go, fall on him." 30Benaiah came to the Tent of ForeverOne, and said to him, "Thus says the king, 'Come out!'" He said, "No; but I will die here." Benaiah brought the king word again, saying, "Thus said Joab, and thus he answered me." 31The king said to him, "Do as he has said, and fall on him, and bury him; that you may take away the blood, which Joab shed without cause, from me and from my father's house.

32ForeverOne will return his blood on his own head, because he fell on two men more righteous and better than he, and killed them with the sword, and my father David didn't know it: Abner the son of Ner, captain of the army of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the army of Judah.

33So shall their blood return on the head of Joab, and on the head of his offspring forever. But to David, and to his offspring, and to his house, and to his throne, there shall be peace forever from ForeverOne." 34Then Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up, and fell on him, and killed him; and he was buried in his own house in the wilderness.

35The king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his place over the army; and Zadok the priest did the king put in the place of Abiathar.

36The king sent and called for Shimei, and said to him, "Build yourself a house in Jerusalem, and dwell there, and don't go out from there anywhere.

37For on the day you go out, and pass over the brook Kidron, know for certain that you shall surely die: your blood shall be on your own head." 38Shimei said to the king, "The saying is good. As my lord the king has said, so will your servant do." Shimei lived in Jerusalem many days.

39At the end of three years two of the servants of Shimei ran away to Achish, son of Maacah, king of Gath. They told Shimei, saying, "Behold, your servants are in Gath." 40Shimei arose, and saddled his donkey, and went to Gath to Achish, to seek his servants; and Shimei went, and brought his servants from Gath.

41Solomon was told that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath, and had returned.

42The king sent and called for Shimei, and said to him, "Didn't I adjure you by ForeverOne, and warn you, saying, 'Know for certain, that on the day you go out, and walk abroad any where, you shall surely die?' You said to me, 'The saying that I have heard is good.' 43Then why haven't you kept the oath of ForeverOne, and the commandment that I have instructed you with?" 44The king said moreover to Shimei, "You know all the wickedness which your heart is privy to, that you did to David my father. Therefore ForeverOne shall return your wickedness on your own head.

45But king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before ForeverOne forever." 46So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he went out, and fell on him, so that he died. The kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.

Ezra 7:21-8:14

22 verses

Ezra Chapter 7

21I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers who are beyond the River, that whatever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done with all diligence, 22to one hundred talents of silver, and to one hundred measures of wheat, and to one hundred baths of wine, and to one hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.

23Whatever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be done exactly for the house of the God of heaven; for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?

24Also we inform you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, the singers, porters, Nethinim, or servants of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose tribute, custom, or toll, on them.

25You, Ezra, after the wisdom of your God who is in your hand, appoint magistrates and judges, who may judge all the people who are beyond the River, all those who know the laws of your God; and teach him who doesn't know them.

26Whoever will not do the law of your God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed on him with all diligence, whether it be to death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.

27Blessed be ForeverOne, the God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of ForeverOne which is in Jerusalem; 28and has extended loving kindness to me before the king, and his counselors, and before all the king's mighty princes. I was strengthened according to the hand of ForeverOne my God on me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.

Luke 15:8-32

Luke Chapter 15

8Or what woman, if she had ten drachma coins, if she lost one drachma coin, wouldn't light a lamp, sweep the house, and seek diligently until she found it?

9When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the drachma which I had lost.' 10Even so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner repenting." 11He said, "A certain man had two sons.

12The younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give me my share of your property.' So he divided his livelihood between them.

13Not many days after, the younger son gathered all of this together and traveled into a far country. There he wasted his property with riotous living.

14When he had spent all of it, there arose a severe famine in that country, and he began to be in need.

15He went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed pigs.

16He wanted to fill his belly with the husks that the pigs ate, but no one gave him any.

17But when he came to himself he said, 'How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough to spare, and I'm dying with hunger!

18I will get up and go to my father, and will tell him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight.

19I am no more worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired servants."' 20"He arose, and came to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

21The son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.' 22"But the father said to his servants, 'Bring out the best robe, and put it on him. Put a ring on his hand, and sandals on his feet.

23Bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let's eat, and celebrate; 24for this, my son, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.' Then they began to celebrate.

25"Now his elder son was in the field. As he came near to the house, he heard music and dancing.

26He called one of the servants to him, and asked what was going on.

27He said to him, 'Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and healthy.' 28But he was angry, and would not go in. So his father came out, and begged him.

29But he answered his father, 'Behold, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed a commandment of yours, but you never gave me a goat, that I might celebrate with my friends.

30But when this your son came, who has devoured your living with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.' 31"He said to him, 'Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.

32But it was appropriate to celebrate and be glad, for this, your brother, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.'"
