Exodus Chapter 13

¹⁷When Pharaoh had let the people go God didn't lead them by the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, "Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and they return to Egypt;" ¹⁸but God led the people around by the way of the wilderness by the Red Sea; and the children of Israel went up armed out of the land of Egypt.

¹⁹Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, for he had made the children of Israel swear, saying, "God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones away from here with you." ²⁰They took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.

²¹ForeverOne went before them by day in a pillar of cloud, to lead them on their way, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light, that they might go by day and by night: ²²the pillar of cloud by day, and the pillar of fire by night, didn't depart from before the people.

Exodus Chapter 14

¹ForeverOne spoke to Moses, saying, ²"Speak to the children of Israel, that they turn back and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, before Baal Zephon. You shall encamp opposite it by the sea.

³Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, 'They are entangled in the land. The wilderness has shut them in.' ⁴I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them; and I will get honor over Pharaoh, and over all his armies; and the Egyptians shall know that I am ForeverOne." They did so.

⁵The king of Egypt was told that the people had fled; and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was changed towards the people, and they said, "What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?" ⁶He prepared his chariot, and took his army with him; ⁷and he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over all of them.

⁸ForeverOne hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel; for the children of Israel went out with a high hand.

⁹The Egyptians pursued after them: all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen, and his army; and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baal Zephon.

1 Kings Chapter 2

²⁶To Abiathar the priest the king said, "Go to Anathoth, to your own fields; for you are worthy of death. But I will not at this time put you to death, because you bore the ark of LordOfMine ForeverOne before David my father, and because you were afflicted in all in which my father was afflicted." ²⁷So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest to ForeverOne, that he might fulfill the word of ForeverOne, which he spoke concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.

²⁸The news came to Joab; for Joab had turned after Adonijah, though he didn't turn after Absalom. Joab fled to the Tent of ForeverOne, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.

²⁹King Solomon was told, "Joab has fled to the Tent of ForeverOne, and behold, he is by the altar." Then Solomon sent Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, saying, "Go, fall on him." ³⁰Benaiah came to the Tent of ForeverOne, and said to him, "Thus says the king, 'Come out!'" He said, "No; but I will die here." Benaiah brought the king word again, saying, "Thus said Joab, and thus he answered me." ³¹The king said to him, "Do as he has said, and fall on him, and bury him; that you may take away the blood, which Joab shed without cause, from me and from my father's house.

³²ForeverOne will return his blood on his own head, because he fell on two men more righteous and better than he, and killed them with the sword, and my father David didn't know it: Abner the son of Ner, captain of the army of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the army of Judah.

³³So shall their blood return on the head of Joab, and on the head of his offspring forever. But to David, and to his offspring, and to his house, and to his throne, there shall be peace forever from ForeverOne." ³⁴Then Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up, and fell on him, and killed him; and he was buried in his own house in the wilderness.

³⁵The king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his place over the army; and Zadok the priest did the king put in the place of Abiathar.

³⁶The king sent and called for Shimei, and said to him, "Build yourself a house in Jerusalem, and dwell there, and don't go out from there anywhere.

³⁷For on the day you go out, and pass over the brook Kidron, know for certain that you shall surely die: your blood shall be on your own head." ³⁸Shimei said to the king, "The saying is good. As my lord the king has said, so will your servant do." Shimei lived in Jerusalem many days.

³⁹At the end of three years two of the servants of Shimei ran away to Achish, son of Maacah, king of Gath. They told Shimei, saying, "Behold, your servants are in Gath." ⁴⁰Shimei arose, and saddled his donkey, and went to Gath to Achish, to seek his servants; and Shimei went, and brought his servants from Gath.

⁴¹Solomon was told that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath, and had returned.

⁴²The king sent and called for Shimei, and said to him, "Didn't I adjure you by ForeverOne, and warn you, saying, 'Know for certain, that on the day you go out, and walk abroad any where, you shall surely die?' You said to me, 'The saying that I have heard is good.' ⁴³Then why haven't you kept the oath of ForeverOne, and the commandment that I have instructed you with?" ⁴⁴The king said moreover to Shimei, "You know all the wickedness which your heart is privy to, that you did to David my father. Therefore ForeverOne shall return your wickedness on your own head.

⁴⁵But king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before ForeverOne forever." ⁴⁶So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he went out, and fell on him, so that he died. The kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.

Ezra Chapter 7

²¹I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers who are beyond the River, that whatever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done with all diligence, ²²to one hundred talents of silver, and to one hundred measures of wheat, and to one hundred baths of wine, and to one hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.

²³Whatever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be done exactly for the house of the God of heaven; for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?

²⁴Also we inform you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, the singers, porters, Nethinim, or servants of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose tribute, custom, or toll, on them.

²⁵You, Ezra, after the wisdom of your God who is in your hand, appoint magistrates and judges, who may judge all the people who are beyond the River, all those who know the laws of your God; and teach him who doesn't know them.

²⁶Whoever will not do the law of your God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed on him with all diligence, whether it be to death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.

²⁷Blessed be ForeverOne, the God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of ForeverOne which is in Jerusalem; ²⁸and has extended loving kindness to me before the king, and his counselors, and before all the king's mighty princes. I was strengthened according to the hand of ForeverOne my God on me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.

Ezra Chapter 8

¹Now these are the heads of their fathers' [houses], and this is the genealogy of those who went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king: ²Of the sons of Phinehas, Gershom. Of the sons of Ithamar, Daniel. Of the sons of David, Hattush.

³Of the sons of Shecaniah, of the sons of Parosh, Zechariah; and with him were reckoned by genealogy of the males one hundred fifty.

⁴Of the sons of Pahathmoab, Eliehoenai the son of Zerahiah; and with him two hundred males.

⁵Of the sons of Shecaniah, the son of Jahaziel; and with him three hundred males.

⁶Of the sons of Adin, Ebed the son of Jonathan; and with him fifty males.

⁷Of the sons of Elam, Jeshaiah the son of Athaliah; and with him seventy males.

⁸Of the sons of Shephatiah, Zebadiah the son of Michael; and with him eighty males.

⁹Of the sons of Joab, Obadiah the son of Jehiel; and with him two hundred and eighteen males.

¹⁰Of the sons of Shelomith, the son of Josiphiah; and with him one hundred sixty males.

¹¹Of the sons of Bebai, Zechariah the son of Bebai; and with him twenty-eight males.

¹²Of the sons of Azgad, Johanan the son of Hakkatan; and with him one hundred ten males.

¹³Of the sons of Adonikam, [who were] the last; and these are their names: Eliphelet, Jeuel, and Shemaiah; and with them sixty males.

¹⁴Of the sons of Bigvai, Uthai and Zabbud; and with them seventy males.

Luke Chapter 15

⁸Or what woman, if she had ten drachma coins, if she lost one drachma coin, wouldn't light a lamp, sweep the house, and seek diligently until she found it?

⁹When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the drachma which I had lost.' ¹⁰Even so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner repenting." ¹¹He said, "A certain man had two sons.

¹²The younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give me my share of your property.' So he divided his livelihood between them.

¹³Not many days after, the younger son gathered all of this together and traveled into a far country. There he wasted his property with riotous living.

¹⁴When he had spent all of it, there arose a severe famine in that country, and he began to be in need.

¹⁵He went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed pigs.

¹⁶He wanted to fill his belly with the husks that the pigs ate, but no one gave him any.

¹⁷But when he came to himself he said, 'How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough to spare, and I'm dying with hunger!

¹⁸I will get up and go to my father, and will tell him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight.

¹⁹I am no more worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired servants."' ²⁰"He arose, and came to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

²¹The son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.' ²²"But the father said to his servants, 'Bring out the best robe, and put it on him. Put a ring on his hand, and sandals on his feet.

²³Bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let's eat, and celebrate; ²⁴for this, my son, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.' Then they began to celebrate.

²⁵"Now his elder son was in the field. As he came near to the house, he heard music and dancing.

²⁶He called one of the servants to him, and asked what was going on.

²⁷He said to him, 'Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and healthy.' ²⁸But he was angry, and would not go in. So his father came out, and begged him.

²⁹But he answered his father, 'Behold, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed a commandment of yours, but you never gave me a goat, that I might celebrate with my friends.

³⁰But when this your son came, who has devoured your living with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.' ³¹"He said to him, 'Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.

³²But it was appropriate to celebrate and be glad, for this, your brother, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.'"
