Exodus Chapter 13

¹ForeverOne spoke to Moses, saying, ²"Sanctify to me all of the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of animal. It is mine." ³Moses said to the people, "Remember this day, in which you came out from Egypt, out of the house of slavery; for by strength of hand ForeverOne brought you out from this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten.

⁴Today you go out in the month Abib.

⁵When ForeverOne brings you into the land of the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, which he swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, you shall keep this service in this month.

⁶Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to ForeverOne.

⁷Unleavened bread must be eaten throughout the seven days; leavened bread mustn't be seen with you. Let no yeast be seen with you, within all your borders.

⁸You shall tell your son in that day, saying, 'It is because of what ForeverOne did for me when I came here out of Egypt.' ⁹It shall be for a sign to you on your hand, and for a memorial between your eyes, that the law of ForeverOne may be in your mouth; for with a strong hand ForeverOne has brought you out of Egypt.

¹⁰You shall therefore keep this ordinance in its season from year to year.

¹¹"When ForeverOne brings you into the land of the Canaanite, as he swore to you and to your fathers, and shall give it you, ¹²you shall set apart to ForeverOne all that opens the womb, and every firstborn which you have that comes from an animal. The males shall be ForeverOne's.

¹³Every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck; and you shall redeem all the firstborn of man among your sons.

¹⁴When your son asks you in time to come, saying, 'What is this?' you shall tell him, 'By strength of hand ForeverOne brought us out from Egypt, from the house of slavery; ¹⁵and when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, ForeverOne killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of animal. Therefore I sacrifice to ForeverOne all that opens the womb, being males; but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.' ¹⁶It shall be for a sign on your hand, and for symbols between your eyes: for by strength of hand ForeverOne brought us out out of Egypt."

1 Kings Chapter 2

¹Now the days of David drew near that he should die; and he commanded Solomon his son, saying, ²"I am going the way of all the earth. You be strong therefore, and show yourself a man; ³and keep the instruction of ForeverOne your God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, his commandments, his ordinances, and his testimonies, according to what is written in the law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do, and wherever you turn yourself.

⁴That ForeverOne may establish his word which he spoke concerning me, saying, 'If your children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail you,' he said, 'a man on the throne of Israel.' ⁵"Moreover you know also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, even what he did to the two captains of the armies of Israel, to Abner the son of Ner, and to Amasa the son of Jether, whom he killed, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war on his sash that was about his waist, and in his shoes that were on his feet.

⁶Do therefore according to your wisdom, and don't let his gray head go down to Sheol in peace.

⁷But show kindness to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be of those who eat at your table; for so they came to me when I fled from Absalom your brother.

⁸"Behold, there is with you Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, of Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim; but he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I swore to him by ForeverOne, saying, 'I will not put you to death with the sword.' ⁹Now therefore don't hold him guiltless, for you are a wise man; and you will know what you ought to do to him, and you shall bring his gray head down to Sheol with blood." ¹⁰David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.

¹¹The days that David reigned over Israel were forty years; seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty-three years reigned he in Jerusalem.

¹²Solomon sat on the throne of David his father; and his kingdom was firmly established.

¹³Then Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. She said, "Do you come peaceably?" He said, "Peaceably.

¹⁴He said moreover, I have something to tell you." She said, "Say on." ¹⁵He said, "You know that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reign. However the kingdom is turned around, and has become my brother's; for it was his from ForeverOne.

¹⁶Now I ask one petition of you. Don't deny me." She said to him, "Say on." ¹⁷He said, "Please speak to Solomon the king (for he will not tell you 'no'), that he give me Abishag the Shunammite [to be my] wife." ¹⁸Bathsheba said, "Alright. I will speak for you to the king." ¹⁹Bathsheba therefore went to king Solomon, to speak to him for Adonijah. The king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself to her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a throne to be set for the king's mother; and she sat on his right hand.

²⁰Then she said, "I ask one small petition of you; don't deny me." The king said to her, "Ask on, my mother; for I will not deny you." ²¹She said, "Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah your brother [to be his] wife." ²²King Solomon answered his mother, "Why do you ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Ask for him the kingdom also; for he is my elder brother; even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah." ²³Then king Solomon swore by ForeverOne, saying, "May God so deal with me, and even more, if Adonijah has not spoken this word against his own life.

²⁴Now therefore as ForeverOne lives, who has established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who has made me a house, as he promised, surely Adonijah shall be put to death today." ²⁵King Solomon sent by Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he fell on him, so that he died.

Ezra Chapter 7

⁷There went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinim, to Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.

⁸He came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.

⁹For on the first [day] of the first month began he to go up from Babylon; and on the first [day] of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God on him.

¹⁰For Ezra had set his heart to seek the law of ForeverOne, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and ordinances.

¹¹Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, even the scribe of the words of the commandments of ForeverOne, and of his statutes to Israel: ¹²Artaxerxes, king of kings, to Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect and so forth.

¹³I make a decree, that all those of the people of Israel, and their priests and the Levites, in my realm, who are minded of their own free will to go to Jerusalem, go with you.

¹⁴Because you are sent of the king and his seven counselors, to inquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of your God which is in your hand, ¹⁵and to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counselors have freely offered to the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem, ¹⁶and all the silver and gold that you shall find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem; ¹⁷therefore you shall with all diligence buy with this money bulls, rams, lambs, with their meal offerings and their drink offerings, and shall offer them on the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.

¹⁸Whatever shall seem good to you and to your brothers to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, do that after the will of your God.

¹⁹The vessels that are given to you for the service of the house of your God, deliver before the God of Jerusalem.

²⁰Whatever more shall be needful for the house of your God, which you shall have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king's treasure house.

Luke Chapter 14

²⁵Now great multitudes were going with him. He turned and said to them, ²⁶"If anyone comes to me, and doesn't disregard his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he can't be my disciple.

²⁷Whoever doesn't bear his own cross, and come after me, can't be my disciple.

²⁸For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doesn't first sit down and count the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it?

²⁹Or perhaps, when he has laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, everyone who sees begins to mock him, ³⁰saying, 'This man began to build, and wasn't able to finish.' ³¹Or what king, as he goes to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?

³²Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an envoy, and asks for conditions of peace.

³³So therefore whoever of you who doesn't renounce all that he has, he can't be my disciple.

³⁴Salt is good, but if the salt becomes flat and tasteless, with what do you season it?

³⁵It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile. It is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear."

Luke Chapter 15

²The Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, "This man welcomes sinners, and eats with them." ³He told them this parable.

⁴"Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep, and lost one of them, wouldn't leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one that was lost, until he found it?

⁵When he has found it, he carries it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

⁶When he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!' ⁷I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance.
