Exodus Chapter 12

³⁷The children of Israel traveled from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot who were men, besides children.

³⁸A mixed multitude went up also with them, with flocks, herds, and even very much livestock.

³⁹They baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they had brought from Egypt. It wasn't leavened, because they were thrust out of Egypt, and couldn't wait. Nor had they prepared any food..

⁴⁰Now the time that the children of Israel lived in Egypt was four hundred thirty years.

⁴¹At the end of four hundred thirty years, even the same day it happened, all the armies of ForeverOne went out from the land of Egypt.

⁴²It is a night to be much observed to ForeverOne for bringing them out from the land of Egypt. This is that night of ForeverOne, to be much observed of all the children of Israel throughout their generations.

⁴³ForeverOne said to Moses and Aaron, "This is the ordinance of the Passover. No foreigner shall eat of it, ⁴⁴but every man's servant who is bought for money, when you have circumcised him, then he will eat of it.

⁴⁵A foreigner and a hired servant shall not eat of it.

⁴⁶It must be eaten in one house. Don't carry any of the meat outside of the house. Don't break any of its bones.

⁴⁷All the congregation of Israel shall keep it.

⁴⁸When a stranger shall live as a foreigner with you, and will keep the Passover to ForeverOne, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one who is born in the land: but no uncircumcised person shall eat of it.

⁴⁹One law shall be to him who is born at home, and to the stranger who lives as a foreigner among you." ⁵⁰All the children of Israel did so. As ForeverOne commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.

⁵¹that same day ForeverOne brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.

1 Kings Chapter 1

²⁸Then king David answered, "Call to me Bathsheba." She came into the king's presence, and stood before the king.

²⁹The king swore, and said, "As ForeverOne lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity, ³⁰most certainly as I swore to you by ForeverOne, the God of Israel, saying, 'Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place;' most certainly I will do so today." ³¹Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and showed respect to the king, and said, "Let my lord king David live forever!" ³²King David said, "Call to me Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada." They came before the king.

³³The king said to them, "Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride on my own mule, and bring him down to Gihon.

³⁴Let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel. Blow the trumpet, and say, 'Long live king Solomon!' ³⁵Then you shall come up after him, and he shall come and sit on my throne; for he shall be king in my place. I have appointed him to be prince over Israel and over Judah." ³⁶Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, "Amen. May ForeverOne, the God of my lord the king, say so.

³⁷As ForeverOne has been with my lord the king, even so may he be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David." ³⁸So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride on king David's mule, and brought him to Gihon.

³⁹Zadok the priest took the horn of oil out of the Tent, and anointed Solomon. They blew the trumpet; and all the people said, "Long live king Solomon!" ⁴⁰All the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth shook with the sound of them.

⁴¹Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they had finished eating. When Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, "Why is this noise of the city being in an uproar?" ⁴²While he yet spoke, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came: and Adonijah said, "Come in; for you are a worthy man, and bring good news." ⁴³Jonathan answered Adonijah, "Most certainly our lord king David has made Solomon king.

⁴⁴The king has sent with him Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and they have caused him to ride on the king's mule.

⁴⁵Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon. They have come up from there rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This is the noise that you have heard.

⁴⁶Also, Solomon sits on the throne of the kingdom.

⁴⁷Moreover the king's servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, 'May your God make the name of Solomon better than your name, and make his throne greater than your throne;' and the king bowed himself on the bed.

⁴⁸Also thus said the king, 'Blessed be ForeverOne, the God of Israel, who has given one to sit on my throne today, my eyes even seeing it.'" ⁴⁹All the guests of Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and each man went his way.

⁵⁰Adonijah feared because of Solomon; and he arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.

⁵¹Solomon was told, saying, "Behold, Adonijah fears king Solomon; for, behold, he has laid hold on the horns of the altar, saying, 'Let king Solomon swear to me first that he will not kill his servant with the sword.'" ⁵²Solomon said, "If he shows himself a worthy man, not a hair of him shall fall to the earth; but if wickedness be found in him, he shall die." ⁵³So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. He came and showed respect to king Solomon; and Solomon said to him, "Go to your house."

Ezra Chapter 6

¹³Then Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, Shetharbozenai, and their companions, because that Darius the king had sent, did accordingly with all diligence.

¹⁴The elders of the Jews built and prospered, through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. They built and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the decree of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.

¹⁵This house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king.

¹⁶The children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy.

¹⁷They offered at the dedication of this house of God one hundred bulls, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Israel, twelve male goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

¹⁸They set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, for the service of God, which is at Jerusalem; as it is written in the book of Moses.

¹⁹The children of the captivity kept the Passover on the fourteenth [day] of the first month.

²⁰For the priests and the Levites had purified themselves together; all of them were pure: and they killed the Passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brothers the priests, and for themselves.

²¹The children of Israel who had returned from the captivity, and all who had separated themselves to them from the filthiness of the nations of the land, to seek ForeverOne, the God of Israel, ate, ²²and kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for ForeverOne had made them joyful, and had turned the heart of the king of Assyria to them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

Ezra Chapter 7

¹Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah, ²the son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub, ³the son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth, ⁴the son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki, ⁵the son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest; ⁶this Ezra went up from Babylon: and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which ForeverOne, the God of Israel, had given; and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of ForeverOne his God on him.

Luke Chapter 14

¹When he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees on a Sabbath to eat bread, they were watching him.

²Behold, a certain man who had dropsy was in front of him.

³Jesus, answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?" ⁴But they were silent. He took him, and healed him, and let him go.

⁵He answered them, "Which of you, if your son or an ox fell into a well, wouldn't immediately pull him out on a Sabbath day?" ⁶They couldn't answer him regarding these things.

⁷He spoke a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed how they chose the best seats, and said to them, ⁸"When you are invited by anyone to a wedding feast, don't sit in the best seat, since perhaps someone more honorable than you might be invited by him, ⁹and he who invited both of you would come and tell you, 'Make room for this person.' Then you would begin, with shame, to take the lowest place.

¹⁰But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes, he may tell you, 'Friend, move up higher.' Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you.

¹¹For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted." ¹²He also said to the one who had invited him, "When you make a dinner or a supper, don't call your friends, nor your brothers, nor your kinsmen, nor rich neighbors, or perhaps they might also return the favor, and pay you back.

¹³But when you make a feast, ask the poor, the maimed, the lame, or the blind; ¹⁴and you will be blessed, because they don't have the resources to repay you. For you will be repaid in the resurrection of the righteous." ¹⁵When one of those who sat at the table with him heard these things, he said to him, "Blessed is he who will feast in God's Kingdom!" ¹⁶But he said to him, "A certain man made a great supper, and he invited many people.

¹⁷He sent out his servant at supper time to tell those who were invited, 'Come, for everything is ready now.' ¹⁸They all as one began to make excuses. "The first said to him, 'I have bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please have me excused.' ¹⁹"Another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I must go try them out. Please have me excused.' ²⁰"Another said, 'I have married a wife, and therefore I can't come.' ²¹"That servant came, and told his master these things. Then the householder, being angry, said to his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor, maimed, blind, and lame.' ²²"The servant said, 'Master, it is done as you commanded, and there is still room.' ²³"The master said to the servant, 'Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

²⁴For I tell you that none of those men who were invited will taste of my supper.'"
