Genesis Chapter 31

¹⁷Then Jacob rose up, and set his sons and his wives on the camels, ¹⁸and he took away all his livestock, and all his possessions which he had gathered, including the livestock which he had gained in Paddan Aram, to go to Isaac his father, to the land of Canaan.

¹⁹[While] Laban had gone to shear his sheep Rachel stole the teraphim that were her father's.

²⁰Jacob deceived Laban the Syrian, in that he didn't tell him that he was running away.

²¹So he fled with all that he had. He rose up, passed over the River, and set his face toward the mountain of Gilead.

²²Laban was told on the third day that Jacob had fled.

²³He took his relatives with him, and pursued him seven days' journey. He overtook him in the mountain of Gilead.

²⁴God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream of the night, and said to him, "Be careful that you don't speak either good or bad to Jacob." ²⁵Laban caught up with Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mountain, and Laban with his relatives encamped in the mountain of Gilead.

²⁶Laban said to Jacob, "What have you done, that you have deceived me, and carried away my daughters like captives of the sword?

²⁷Why did you flee secretly, and deceive me, and didn't tell me, that I might have sent you away with mirth and with songs, with tambourine and with harp; ²⁸and didn't allow me to kiss my sons and my daughters? Now you have done foolishly.

²⁹It is in the power of my hand to hurt you, but the God of your father spoke to me last night, saying, 'Be careful that you don't speak either good or bad to Jacob.' ³⁰Now, you want to be gone, because you greatly longed for your father's house, but why have you stolen my gods?" ³¹Jacob answered Laban, "Because I was afraid, for I said, 'Lest you should take your daughters from me by force.' ³²Anyone you find your gods with shall not live. Before our relatives, discern what is yours with me, and take it." For Jacob didn't know that Rachel had stolen them.

³³Laban went into Jacob's tent, into Leah's tent, and into the tent of the two female servants; but he didn't find them. He went out of Leah's tent, and entered into Rachel's tent.

³⁴Now Rachel had taken the teraphim, put them in the camel's saddle, and sat on them. Laban felt around all the tent, but didn't find them.

³⁵She said to her father, "Don't let my lord be angry that I can't rise up before you; for I'm having my period." He searched, but didn't find the teraphim.

1 Samuel Chapter 2

¹Hannah prayed, and said: "My heart exults in ForeverOne! My horn is exalted in ForeverOne. My mouth is enlarged over my enemies, because I rejoice in your salvation.

²There is no one as holy as ForeverOne, For there is no one besides you, nor is there any rock like our God.

³"Talk no more so exceeding proudly. Don't let arrogance come out of your mouth, For ForeverOne is a God of knowledge. By him actions are weighed.

⁴"The bows of the mighty men are broken. Those who stumbled are armed with strength.

⁵Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread. Those who were hungry have ceased [to hunger]. Yes, the barren has borne seven. She who has many children languishes.

⁶"ForeverOne kills, and makes alive. He brings down to Sheol, and brings up.

⁷ForeverOne makes poor, and makes rich. He brings low, he also lifts up.

⁸He raises up the poor out of the dust. He lifts up the needy from the dunghill, To make them sit with princes, and inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are ForeverOne's. He has set the world on them.

⁹He will keep the feet of his holy ones, but the wicked shall be put to silence in darkness; for no man shall prevail by strength.

¹⁰Those who strive with ForeverOne shall be broken to pieces. He will thunder against them in the sky. "ForeverOne will judge the ends of the earth. He will give strength to his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed." ¹¹Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. The child ministered to ForeverOne before Eli the priest.

¹²Now the sons of Eli were base men; they didn't know ForeverOne.

¹³The custom of the priests with the people was that when any man offered sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while the flesh was boiling, with a fork of three teeth in his hand; ¹⁴and he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fork brought up the priest took with it. So they did in Shiloh to all the Israelites who came there.

¹⁵Yes, before they burned the fat, the priest's servant came, and said to the man who sacrificed, "Give meat to roast for the priest; for he will not accept boiled meat from you, but raw." ¹⁶If the man said to him, "Let the fat be burned first, and then take as much as your soul desires;" then he would say, "No, but you shall give it to me now; and if not, I will take it by force." ¹⁷The sin of the young men was very great before ForeverOne; for the men despised the offering of ForeverOne.

¹⁸But Samuel ministered before ForeverOne, being a child, clothed with a linen ephod.

¹⁹Moreover his mother made him a little robe, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.

²⁰Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, "ForeverOne give you offspring of this woman for the petition which was asked of ForeverOne." They went to their own home.

²¹ForeverOne visited Hannah, and she conceived, and bore three sons and two daughters. The child Samuel grew before ForeverOne.

²²Now Eli was very old; and he heard all that his sons did to all Israel, and how they lay with the women who served at the door of the Tent of Meeting.

²³He said to them, "Why do you do such things? for I hear of your evil dealings from all this people.

²⁴No, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: you make ForeverOne's people disobey.

²⁵If one man sin against another, God shall judge him; but if a man sin against ForeverOne, who shall entreat for him?" Notwithstanding, they didn't listen to the voice of their father, because ForeverOne was minded to kill them.

²⁶The child Samuel grew and increased in favor both with ForeverOne, and also with men.

2 Chronicles Chapter 2

¹Now Solomon purposed to build a house for the name of ForeverOne, and a house for his kingdom.

²Solomon counted out seventy thousand men to bear burdens, and eighty thousand men who were stone cutters in the mountains, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them.

³Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, "As you dealt with David my father, and sent him cedars to build him a house in which to dwell, [even so deal with me].

⁴Behold, I am about to build a house for the name of ForeverOne my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him incense of sweet spices, and for the continual show bread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the Sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the set feasts of ForeverOne our God. This is [an ordinance] forever to Israel.

⁵"The house which I build is great; for our God is great above all gods.

⁶But who is able to build him a house, since heaven and the heaven of heavens can't contain him? who am I then, that I should build him a house, except just to burn incense before him?

⁷"Now therefore send me a man skillful to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and who knows how to engrave [all kinds of] engravings, [to be] with the skillful men who are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father provided.

⁸"Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and algum trees, out of Lebanon; for I know that your servants know how to cut timber in Lebanon: and behold, my servants shall be with your servants, ⁹even to prepare me timber in abundance; for the house which I am about to build shall be great and wonderful.

¹⁰Behold, I will give to your servants, the cutters who cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil." ¹¹Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, "Because ForeverOne loves his people, he has made you king over them." ¹²Huram continued, "Blessed be ForeverOne, the God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who has given to David the king a wise son, endowed with discretion and understanding, that should build a house for ForeverOne, and a house for his kingdom.

Mark Chapter 2

²¹No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, or else the patch shrinks and the new tears away from the old, and a worse hole is made.

²²No one puts new wine into old wineskins or else the new wine will burst the skins, and the wine pours out, and the skins will be destroyed. But they put new wine into fresh wineskins." ²³He was going on the Sabbath day through the grain fields; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of grain.

²⁴The Pharisees said to him, "Behold, why do they do what is not lawful on the Sabbath day?" ²⁵He said to them, "Did you never read what David did when he had need and was hungry- he, and those who were with him?

²⁶How he entered into God's house at the time of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the show bread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and gave also to those who were with him?" ²⁷He said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.

²⁸So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."

Mark Chapter 3

²They watched him, whether he would heal him on the Sabbath day, that they might accuse him.

³He said to the man who had his hand withered, "Stand up." ⁴He said to them, "Is it lawful on the Sabbath day to do good or to do harm? To save a life or to kill?" But they were silent.

⁵When he had looked around at them with anger, being grieved at the hardening of their hearts, he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out, and his hand was restored as healthy as the other.

⁶The Pharisees went out, and immediately conspired with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.

⁷Jesus withdrew to the sea with his disciples; and a great multitude followed him from Galilee, from Judea, ⁸from Jerusalem, from Idumaea, beyond the Jordan, and those from around Tyre and Sidon. A great multitude, hearing what great things he did, came to him.

⁹He spoke to his disciples that a little boat should stay near him because of the crowd, so that they wouldn't press on him.

¹⁰For he had healed many, so that as many as had diseases pressed on him that they might touch him.

¹¹The unclean spirits, whenever they saw him, fell down before him and cried, "You are the Son of God!" ¹²He sternly warned them that they should not make him known.
