Genesis Chapter 15

1After these things the word of ForeverOne came to Abram in a vision, saying, "Don't be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward." 2Abram said, "LordOfMine ForeverOne, what will you give me, since I go childless, and he who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?" 3Abram said, "Behold, you have given me no children and, behold, one born in my house is my heir." 4Behold, the word of ForeverOne came to him, saying, "This man will not be your heir, but he who will come out of your own body will be your heir." 5ForeverOne brought him outside, and said, "Look now toward the sky, and count the stars, if you are able to count them." He said to Abram, "So will your offspring be." 6He believed in ForeverOne, and he counted it to him as righteousness.

7He said to him, "I am ForeverOne who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give you this land to inherit it." 8He said, "LordOfMine ForeverOne, how will I know that I will inherit it?" 9He said to him, "Bring me a heifer three years old, a female goat three years old, a ram three years old, a turtledove, and a young pigeon." 10He brought him all of them, and divided them in the middle, and laid each half opposite the other; but he didn't divide the birds.

11The birds of prey came down on the carcasses, and Abram drove them away.

12When the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Abram. Now terror and great darkness fell on him.

13He said to Abram, "Know for sure that your offspring will live as foreigners in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them. They will afflict them four hundred years.

14I will also judge that nation, whom they will serve. Afterward they will come out with great wealth; 15but you will go to your fathers in peace. You will be buried at a good old age.

16In the fourth generation they will come here again, for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet full." 17When the sun went down, and it was dark, behold, a smoking furnace and a flaming torch passed between these pieces.

18In that day ForeverOne made a covenant with Abram, saying, "I have given this land to your offspring, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates: 19the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites, 20the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, 21the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites."

1 Chronicles 9:10-27

18 verses

1 Chronicles Chapter 9

10Of the priests were Jedaiah, and Jehoiarib, Jachin, 11and Azariah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the ruler of the house of God; 12and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malchijah, and Maasai the son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer; 13and their brothers, heads of their fathers' houses, one thousand seven hundred sixty; very able men for the work of the service of the house of God.

14Of the Levites were Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari; 15and Bakbakkar, Heresh, and Galal, and Mattaniah the son of Mica, the son of Zichri, the son of Asaph, 16and Obadiah the son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun, and Berechiah the son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites.

17The porters were Shallum, and Akkub, and Talmon, and Ahiman, and their brothers (Shallum was the chief), 18who hitherto [waited] in the king's gate eastward; they were the porters for the camp of the children of Levi.

19Shallum the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his brothers, of his father's house, the Korahites, were over the work of the service, keepers of the thresholds of the tent; and their fathers had been over the camp of ForeverOne, keepers of the entry.

20Phinehas the son of Eleazar was ruler over them in time past, [and] ForeverOne was with him.

21Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was porter of the door of the Tent of Meeting.

22All these who were chosen to be porters in the thresholds were two hundred and twelve. These were reckoned by genealogy in their villages, whom David and Samuel the seer ordained in their office of trust.

23So they and their children had the oversight of the gates of the house of ForeverOne, even the house of the tent, by wards.

24On the four sides were the porters, toward the east, west, north, and south.

25Their brothers, in their villages, were to come in every seven days from time to time to be with them: 26for the four chief porters, who were Levites, were in an office of trust, and were over the rooms and over the treasuries in the house of God.

27They lodged around the house of God, because that duty was on them; and to them pertained its opening morning by morning.

Matthew 13:44-14:7

22 verses

Matthew Chapter 13

44"Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid. In his joy, he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

45"Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who is a merchant seeking fine pearls, 46who having found one pearl of great price, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.

47"Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a dragnet that was thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind, 48which, when it was filled was drawn up on the beach. They sat down and gathered the good into containers, but the rotten they threw away.

49So will it be in the end of the world. The angels will come and separate the wicked from among the righteous, 50and will throw them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." 51Jesus said to them, "Have you understood all these things?" They answered him, "Yes, Lord." 52He said to them, "Therefore every scribe who has been made a disciple in the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who is a householder, who brings out of his treasure new and old things." 53When Jesus had finished these parables, he departed from there.

54Coming into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, "Where did this man get this wisdom and these mighty acts?

55Isn't this the carpenter's son? Isn't his mother called Mary, and his brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas?

56Aren't all of his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all of these things?" 57They were offended by him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country and in his own house." 58He didn't do many mighty acts there because of their unbelief.

Matthew Chapter 14

1At that time, Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus, 2and said to his servants, "This is John the Baptizer. He is risen from the dead. That is why these powers work in him." 3For Herod had arrested John, bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife.

4For John said to him, "It is not lawful for you to have her." 5When he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.

6But when Herod's birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced among them and pleased Herod.

7So he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked.
