Exodus Chapter 12

²¹Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said to them, "Draw out, and take lambs according to your families, and kill the Passover.

²²You shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin; and none of you shall go out of the door of his house until the morning.

²³For ForeverOne will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when he sees the blood on the lintel, and on the two doorposts, ForeverOne will pass over the door, and will not allow the destroyer to enter your houses to strike you.

²⁴You shall observe this thing for an ordinance to you and to your sons forever.

²⁵When you have come to the land which ForeverOne will give you, according as he has promised, that you shall keep this service.

²⁶When your children ask you, 'What do you mean by this service?' ²⁷You shall say, 'It is the sacrifice of ForeverOne's Passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he struck the Egyptians, and spared our houses.'" The people bowed their heads and worshiped.

²⁸The children of Israel went and did so; as ForeverOne had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.

²⁹At midnight ForeverOne struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of livestock.

³⁰Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not one dead.

³¹He called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, "Rise up, get out from among my people, both you and the children of Israel; and go, serve ForeverOne, as you have said!

³²Take both your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and be gone; and bless me also!" ³³The Egyptians were urgent with the people, to send them out of the land in haste, for they said, "We are all dead men." ³⁴The people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneading troughs being bound up in their clothes on their shoulders.

³⁵The children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they asked of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and clothing.

³⁶ForeverOne gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have what they asked. They despoiled the Egyptians.

1 Kings Chapter 1

¹Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he couldn't keep warm.

²Therefore his servants said to him, "Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and cherish him; and let her lie in your bosom, that my lord the king may keep warm." ³So they sought for a beautiful young lady throughout all the borders of Israel, and found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her to the king.

⁴The young lady was very beautiful; and she cherished the king, and ministered to him; but the king didn't know her intimately.

⁵Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, "I will be king." Then he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.

⁶His father had not displeased him at any time in saying, "Why have you done so?" and he was also a very handsome man; and he was born after Absalom.

⁷He conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest: and they following Adonijah helped him.

⁸But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.

⁹Adonijah killed sheep and cattle and fatlings by the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En Rogel; and he called all his brothers, the king's sons, and all the men of Judah, the king's servants: ¹⁰but Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he didn't call.

¹¹Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, "Haven't you heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith reigns, and David our lord doesn't know it?

¹²Now therefore come, please let me give you counsel, that you may save your own life, and the life of your son Solomon.

¹³Go in to king David, and tell him, 'Didn't you, my lord, king, swear to your handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne? Then why does Adonijah reign?' ¹⁴Behold, while you yet talk there with the king, I also will come in after you, and confirm your words." ¹⁵Bathsheba went in to the king into the room. The king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite was ministering to the king.

¹⁶Bathsheba bowed, and showed respect to the king. The king said, "What would you like?" ¹⁷She said to him, "My lord, you swore by ForeverOne your God to your handmaid, 'Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne.' ¹⁸Now, behold, Adonijah reigns; and you, my lord the king, don't know it.

¹⁹He has slain cattle and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has called all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the army; but he hasn't called Solomon your servant.

²⁰You, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, that you should tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.

²¹Otherwise it will happen, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders." ²²Behold, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet came in.

²³They told the king, saying, "Behold, Nathan the prophet!" When he had come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.

²⁴Nathan said, "My lord, king, have you said, 'Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne?' ²⁵For he has gone down today, and has slain cattle and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king's sons, and the captains of the army, and Abiathar the priest. Behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and say, 'Long live king Adonijah!' ²⁶But he hasn't called me, even me your servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon.

²⁷Is this thing done by my lord the king, and you haven't shown to your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?"

Ezra Chapter 5

¹⁴The gold and silver vessels also of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought into the temple of Babylon, those Cyrus the king took out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered to one whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor; ¹⁵and he said to him, 'Take these vessels, go, put them in the temple that is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be built in its place.' ¹⁶Then the same Sheshbazzar came, and laid the foundations of the house of God which is in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now has it been in building, and yet it is not completed.

¹⁷Now therefore, if it seem good to the king, let there be search made in the king's treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem; and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter."

Ezra Chapter 6

²A scroll was found at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province of Media, and in it this was written for a record: ³In the first year of Cyrus the king, Cyrus the king made a decree: Concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, let the house be built, the place where they offer sacrifices, and let its foundations be strongly laid; its height sixty cubits, and its width sixty cubits; ⁴with three courses of great stones, and a course of new timber: and let the expenses be given out of the king's house.

⁵Also let the gold and silver vessels of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple which is at Jerusalem, and brought to Babylon, be restored, and brought again to the temple which is at Jerusalem, everyone to its place; and you shall put them in the house of God.

⁶Now therefore, Tattenai, governor beyond the River, Shetharbozenai, and your companions the Apharsachites, who are beyond the River, you must stay far from there.

⁷Leave the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in its place.

⁸Moreover I make a decree what you shall do to these elders of the Jews for the building of this house of God: that of the king's goods, even of the tribute beyond the River, expenses be given with all diligence to these men, that they be not hindered.

⁹Whatever they need, both young bulls, and rams, and lambs, for burnt offerings to the God of heaven; [also] wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the word of the priests who are at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day without fail; ¹⁰that they may offer sacrifices of pleasant aroma to the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.

¹¹Also I have made a decree, that whoever shall alter this word, let a beam be pulled out from his house, and let him be lifted up and fastened to it; and let his house be made a dunghill for this.

¹²May the God who has caused his name to dwell there overthrow all kings and peoples who shall reach out their hand to alter [it], to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with all diligence.

Luke Chapter 13

¹⁸He said, "What is God's Kingdom like? To what shall I compare it?

¹⁹It is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and put in his own garden. It grew and became a large tree, and the birds of the sky live in its branches." ²⁰Again he said, "To what shall I compare God's Kingdom?

²¹It is like yeast, which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, until it was all leavened." ²²He went on his way through cities and villages, teaching, and traveling on to Jerusalem.

²³One said to him, "Lord, are only few saved?" He said to them, ²⁴"Strive to enter in by the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will seek to enter in and will not be able.

²⁵Once the householder has risen, and has shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, 'Sir open up for us!' then he will answer and tell you, 'I don't know you or where you come from.' ²⁶Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.' ²⁷He will say, 'I tell you, I don't know where you come from. Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity.' ²⁸There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in God's Kingdom, and yourselves being thrown outside.

²⁹They will come from the east, west, north, and south, and will sit down in God's Kingdom.

³⁰Behold, there are some who are last who will be first, and there are some who are first who will be last." ³¹On that same day, some Pharisees came, saying to him, "Get out of here, and go away, for Herod wants to kill you." ³²He said to them, "Go and tell that fox, 'Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I complete my mission.

³³Nevertheless I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the next day, for it can't be that a prophet would perish outside of Jerusalem.' ³⁴"Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, like a hen gathers her own brood under her wings, and you refused!

³⁵Behold, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will not see me until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of ForeverOne!'"
