Genesis 44:27-45:7

15 verses

Genesis Chapter 44

27Your servant, my father, said to us, 'You know that my wife bore me two sons: 28and the one went out from me, and I said, "Surely he is torn in pieces;" and I haven't seen him since.

29If you take this one also from me, and harm happens to him, you will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol.' 30Now therefore when I come to your servant my father, and the boy is not with us; since his life is bound up in the boy's life; 31it will happen, when he sees that the boy is no more, that he will die. Your servants will bring down the gray hairs of your servant, our father, with sorrow to Sheol.

32For your servant became collateral for the boy to my father, saying, 'If I don't bring him to you, then I will bear the blame to my father forever.' 33Now therefore, please let your servant stay instead of the boy, a bondservant to my lord; and let the boy go up with his brothers.

34For how will I go up to my father, if the boy isn't with me? - lest I see the evil that will come on my father."

Genesis Chapter 45

1Then Joseph couldn't control himself before all those who stood before him, and he cried, "Cause everyone to go out from me!" No one else stood with him, while Joseph made himself known to his brothers.

2He wept aloud. The Egyptians heard, and the house of Pharaoh heard.

3Joseph said to his brothers, "I am Joseph! Does my father still live?" His brothers couldn't answer him; for they were terrified at his presence.

4Joseph said to his brothers, "Come near to me, please." They came near. "He said, I am Joseph, your brother, whom you sold into Egypt.

5Now don't be grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.

6For these two years the famine has been in the land, and there are yet five years, in which there will be neither plowing nor harvest.

7God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant in the earth, and to save you alive by a great deliverance.

1 Samuel 26:21-28:6

23 verses

1 Samuel Chapter 26

21Then Saul said, "I have sinned. Return, my son David; for I will no more do you harm, because my life was precious in your eyes today. Behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly." 22David answered, "Behold the spear, O king! Then let one of the young men come over and get it.

23ForeverOne will render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness; because ForeverOne delivered you into my hand today, and I wouldn't reach out my hand against ForeverOne's anointed.

24Behold, as your life was respected today in my eyes, so let my life be respected in the eyes of ForeverOne, and let him deliver me out of all oppression." 25Then Saul said to David, "You are blessed, my son David. You shall both do mightily, and shall surely prevail." So David went his way, and Saul returned to his place.

1 Samuel Chapter 27

1David said in his heart, "I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me, to seek me any more in all the borders of Israel. So shall I escape out of his hand." 2David arose, and passed over, he and the six hundred men who were with him, to Achish the son of Maoch, king of Gath.

3David lived with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal's wife.

4Saul was told that David was fled to Gath: and he sought no more again for him.

5David said to Achish, "If now I have found favor in your eyes, let them give me a place in one of the cities in the country, that I may dwell there. For why should your servant dwell in the royal city with you?" 6Then Achish gave him Ziklag that day: why Ziklag pertains to the kings of Judah to this day.

7The number of the days that David lived in the country of the Philistines was a full year and four months.

8David and his men went up, and made a raid on the Geshurites, and the Girzites, and the Amalekites; for those [nations] were the inhabitants of the land, who were of old, as you go to Shur, even to the land of Egypt.

9David struck the land, and saved neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the cattle, and the donkeys, and the camels, and the clothing; and he returned, and came to Achish.

10Achish said, "Against whom have you made a raid today?" David said, "Against the South of Judah, against the South of the Jerahmeelites, and against the South of the Kenites." 11David saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring them to Gath, saying, "Lest they should tell of us, saying, 'So did David, and so has been his way all the while he has lived in the country of the Philistines.'" 12Achish believed David, saying, "He has made his people Israel utterly to abhor him. Therefore he shall be my servant forever."

1 Samuel Chapter 28

1In those days, the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. Achish said to David, "Know assuredly that you shall go out with me in the army, you and your men." 2David said to Achish, "Therefore you shall know what your servant will do." Achish said to David, "Therefore will I make you my bodyguard for ever." 3Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. Saul had put away those who had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.

4The Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and encamped in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they encamped in Gilboa.

5When Saul saw the army of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly.

6When Saul inquired of ForeverOne, ForeverOne didn't answer him, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.

Section 3

2 Chronicles 23:1-11

11 verses

2 Chronicles Chapter 23

1In the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself, and took the captains of hundreds, Azariah the son of Jeroham, and Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, and Azariah the son of Obed, and Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri, into covenant with him.

2They went about in Judah, and gathered the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the heads of fathers' [houses] of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.

3All the assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. He said to them, "Behold, the king's son shall reign, as ForeverOne has spoken concerning the sons of David.

4This is the thing that you shall do. A third part of you, who come in on the Sabbath, of the priests and of the Levites, shall be porters of the thresholds.

5A third part shall be at the king's house; and a third part at the gate of the foundation. All the people shall be in the courts of ForeverOne's house.

6But let no one enter the house of ForeverOne, except the priests, and those who minister of the Levites. They shall come in, for they are holy, but all the people shall follow ForeverOne's instructions.

7The Levites shall surround the king, every man with his weapons in his hand. Whoever comes into the house, let him be slain. Be with the king when he comes in, and when he goes out." 8So the Levites and all Judah did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men, those who were to come in on the Sabbath; with those who were to go out on the Sabbath; for Jehoiada the priest didn't dismiss the shift.

9Jehoiada the priest delivered to the captains of hundreds the spears, and bucklers, and shields, that had been king David's, which were in the house of God.

10He set all the people, every man with his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left side of the house, along by the altar and the house, around the king.

11Then they brought out the king's son, and put the crown on him, and [gave him] the testimony, and made him king: and Jehoiada and his sons anointed him; and they said, "Long live the king!"

Mark 16:1-20

20 verses

Mark Chapter 16

1When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, that they might come and anoint him.

2Very early on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.

3They were saying among themselves, "Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?" 4for it was very big. Looking up, they saw that the stone was rolled back.

5Entering into the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were amazed.

6He said to them, "Don't be amazed. You seek Jesus, the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen. He is not here. Behold, the place where they laid him!

7But go, tell his disciples and Peter, 'He goes before you into Galilee. There you will see him, as he said to you.'" 8They went out, and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had come on them. They said nothing to anyone; for they were afraid.

9[*Now when he had risen early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.] 10[*She went and told those who had been with him, as they mourned and wept.] 11[*When they heard that he was alive, and had been seen by her, they disbelieved.] 12[*After these things he was revealed in another form to two of them, as they walked, on their way into the country.] 13[*They went away and told it to the rest. They didn't believe them, either.] 14[*Afterward he was revealed to the eleven themselves as they sat at the table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they didn't believe those who had seen him after he had risen.] 15[*He said to them, "Go into all the world, and preach the Good News to the whole creation.] 16[*He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who disbelieves will be condemned.] 17[*These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new languages;] 18[*they will take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it will in no way hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."] 19[*So then the Lord, after he had spoken to them, was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.] 20[*They went out, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word by the signs that followed. Amen.]
