Genesis 31:1-16

Genesis Chapter 31

1He heard Laban's sons' words, saying, "Jacob has taken away all that was our father's. He has obtained all this wealth from what was our father's." 2Jacob saw the expression on Laban's face, and, behold, it was not toward him as before.

3ForeverOne said to Jacob, "Return to the land of your fathers, and to your relatives, and I will be with you." 4Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field to his flock, 5and said to them, "I see the expression on your father's face, that it is not toward me as before; but the God of my father has been with me.

6You know that I have served your father with all of my strength.

7Your father has deceived me, and changed my wages ten times, but God didn't allow him to hurt me.

8If he said, 'The speckled will be your wages,' then all the flock bore speckled. If he said, 'The streaked will be your wages,' then all the flock bore streaked.

9Thus God has taken away your father's livestock, and given them to me.

10During mating season I lifted up my eyes, and saw in a dream, and behold, the male goats which leaped on the flock were streaked, speckled, and grizzled.

11The angel of God said to me in the dream, 'Jacob,' and I said, 'Here I am.' 12He said, 'Now lift up your eyes, and behold, all the male goats which leap on the flock are streaked, speckled, and grizzled, for I have seen all that Laban does to you.

13I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar, where you vowed a vow to me. Now arise, get out from this land, and return to the land of your birth.'" 14Rachel and Leah answered him, "Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father's house?

15Aren't we considered as foreigners by him? For he has sold us, and has also used up our money.

16For all the riches which God has taken away from our father are ours and our children's. Now then, whatever God has said to you, do."

1 Samuel 1

1 Samuel Chapter 1

1Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim Zophim, of the hill country of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite: 2and he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

3This man went up out of his city from year to year to worship and to sacrifice to ForeverOne of Armies in Shiloh. The two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, priests to ForeverOne, were there.

4When the day came that Elkanah sacrificed, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions: 5but to Hannah he gave a double portion; for he loved Hannah, but ForeverOne had shut up her womb.

6Her rival provoked her severely, to make her fret, because ForeverOne had shut up her womb.

7[as] he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of ForeverOne, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.

8Elkanah her husband said to her, "Hannah, why do you weep? Why don't you eat? Why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?" 9So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest was sitting on his seat by the doorpost of the temple of ForeverOne.

10She was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to ForeverOne, and wept bitterly.

11She vowed a vow, and said, "ForeverOne of Armies, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your handmaid, and remember me, and not forget your handmaid, but will give to your handmaid a boy, then I will give him to ForeverOne all the days of his life, and no razor shall come on his head." 12As she continued praying before ForeverOne, Eli saw her mouth.

13Now Hannah spoke in her heart. Only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.

14Eli said to her, "How long will you be drunken? Put away your wine from you." 15Hannah answered, "No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I poured out my soul before ForeverOne.

16Don't count your handmaid for a wicked woman; for I have been speaking out of the abundance of my complaint and my provocation." 17Then Eli answered, "Go in peace; and may the God of Israel grant your petition that you have asked of him." 18She said, "Let your handmaid find favor in your sight." So the woman went her way, and ate; and her facial expression wasn't sad any more.

19They rose up in the morning early, and worshiped before ForeverOne, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and ForeverOne remembered her.

20When the time had come, Hannah conceived and bore a son; and she named him Samuel, [saying], "Because I have asked him of ForeverOne." 21The man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer to ForeverOne the yearly sacrifice, and his vow.

22But Hannah didn't go up; for she said to her husband, "Not until the child is weaned; then I will bring him, that he may appear before ForeverOne, and stay there forever." 23Elkanah her husband said to her, "Do what seems good to you. Wait until you have weaned him; only may ForeverOne establish his word." So the woman waited and nursed her son, until she weaned him.

24When she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bulls, and one ephah of meal, and a bottle of wine, and brought him to ForeverOne's house in Shiloh. The child was young.

25They killed the bull, and brought the child to Eli.

26She said, "Oh, my lord, as your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood by you here, praying to ForeverOne.

27For this child I prayed; and ForeverOne has given me my petition which I asked of him.

28Therefore also I have granted him to ForeverOne. As long as he lives he is granted to ForeverOne." He worshiped ForeverOne there.

2 Chronicles 1

17 verses

2 Chronicles Chapter 1

1Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and ForeverOne his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.

2Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every prince in all Israel, the heads of the fathers' [houses].

3So Solomon, and all the assembly with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the Tent of Meeting of God, which Moses the servant of ForeverOne had made in the wilderness.

4But David had brought the ark of God up from Kiriath Jearim to the place that David had prepared for it; for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.

5Moreover the bronze altar, that Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, was there before the tabernacle of ForeverOne: and Solomon and the assembly were seeking counsel there.

6Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before ForeverOne, which was at the Tent of Meeting, and offered one thousand burnt offerings on it.

7In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, "Ask what I shall give you." 8Solomon said to God, "You have shown great loving kindness to David my father, and have made me king in his place.

9Now, ForeverOne God, let your promise to David my father be established; for you have made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.

10Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this your people, that is so great?" 11God said to Solomon, "Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches, wealth, or honor, nor the life of those who hate you, neither yet have asked long life; but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge my people, over whom I have made you king: 12wisdom and knowledge is granted to you. I will give you riches, wealth, and honor, such as none of the kings have had who have been before you; neither shall there any after you have the like." 13So Solomon came from the high place that was at Gibeon, from before the Tent of Meeting, to Jerusalem; and he reigned over Israel.

14Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had one thousand four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, that he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

15The king made silver and gold to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars he made to be as the sycamore trees that are in the lowland, for abundance.

16The horses which Solomon had were brought out of Egypt and from Kue; the king's merchants purchased them from Kue.

17They brought up and brought out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred pieces of silver, and a horse for one hundred fifty: and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of Syria, they brought them out by their means.

Mark Chapter 2

1When he entered again into Capernaum after some days, it was heard that he was at home.

2Immediately many were gathered together, so that there was no more room, not even around the door; and he spoke the word to them.

3Four people came, carrying a paralytic to him.

4When they could not come near to him for the crowd, they removed the roof where he was. When they had broken it up, they let down the mat that the paralytic was lying on.

5Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven you." 6But there were some of the scribes sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, 7"Why does this man speak blasphemies like that? Who can forgive sins but God alone?" 8Immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, said to them, "Why do you reason these things in your hearts?

9Which is easier, to tell the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven;' or to say, 'Arise, and take up your bed, and walk?' 10But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"- he said to the paralytic- 11"I tell you, arise, take up your mat, and go to your house." 12He arose, and immediately took up the mat and went out in front of them all, so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, "We never saw anything like this!" 13He went out again by the seaside. All the multitude came to him, and he taught them.

14As he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office. He said to him, "Follow me." And he arose and followed him.

15He was reclining at the table in his house, and many tax collectors and sinners sat down with Jesus and his disciples, for there were many, and they followed him.

16The scribes and the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with the sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, "Why is it that he eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?" 17When Jesus heard it, he said to them, "Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." 18John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting, and they came and asked him, "Why do John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples don't fast?" 19Jesus said to them, "Can the groomsmen fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they can't fast.

20But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast in that day.
