Deuteronomy 18:15-19:6

14 verses

Deuteronomy Chapter 18

15ForeverOne your God will raise up to you a prophet from the midst of you, of your brothers, like me. You shall listen to him.

16This is according to all that you desired of ForeverOne your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, "Let me not hear again the voice of ForeverOne my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I not die." 17ForeverOne said to me, "They have well said what they have spoken.

18I will raise them up a prophet from among their brothers, like you; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him.

19Whoever will not listen to my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

20But the prophet, who shall speak a word presumptuously in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who shall speak in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die." 21If you say in your heart, "How shall we know the word which ForeverOne has not spoken?" 22when a prophet speaks in the name of ForeverOne, if the thing doesn't follow, nor happen, that is the thing which ForeverOne has not spoken: the prophet has spoken it presumptuously, you shall not be afraid of him.

Deuteronomy Chapter 19

1When ForeverOne your God shall cut off the nations, whose land ForeverOne your God gives you, and you succeed them, and dwell in their cities, and in their houses; 2you shall set apart three cities for you in the midst of your land, which ForeverOne your God gives you to possess it.

3You shall prepare you the way, and divide the borders of your land, which ForeverOne your God causes you to inherit, into three parts, that every manslayer may flee there.

4This is the case of the manslayer, that shall flee there and live: whoever kills his neighbor unawares, and didn't hate him in time past; 5as when a man goes into the forest with his neighbor to chop wood, and his hand fetches a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slips from the handle, and lights on his neighbor, so that he dies; he shall flee to one of these cities and live: 6lest the avenger of blood pursue the manslayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and strike him mortally; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he didn't hate him in time past.

Section 2

Amos 2:6-3:15

26 verses

Amos Chapter 2

6Thus says ForeverOne: "For three transgressions of Israel, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have sold the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; 7They trample on the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and deny justice to the oppressed; and a man and his father use the same maiden, to profane my holy name; 8and they lay themselves down beside every altar on clothes taken in pledge; and in the house of their God they drink the wine of those who have been fined.

9Yet I destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.

10Also I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and led you forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

11I raised up some of your sons for prophets, and some of your young men for Nazirites. Isn't this true, you children of Israel?" says ForeverOne.

12"But you gave the Nazirites wine to drink, and commanded the prophets, saying, 'Don't prophesy!' 13Behold, I will crush you in your place, as a cart crushes that is full of grain.

14Flight will perish from the swift; and the strong won't strengthen his force; neither shall the mighty deliver himself; 15He who handles the bow won't stand. He who is swift of foot won't escape. He who rides the horse won't deliver himself.

16and he who is courageous among the mighty will flee away naked on that day," says ForeverOne.

Amos Chapter 3

1Hear this word that ForeverOne has spoken against you, children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt, saying: 2"You only have I chosen of all the families of the earth. Therefore I will punish you for all of your sins." 3Do two walk together, unless they have agreed?

4Will a lion roar in the thicket, when he has no prey? Does a young lion cry out of his den, if he has caught nothing?

5Can a bird fall in a trap on the earth, where no snare is set for him? Does a snare spring up from the ground, when there is nothing to catch?

6Does the trumpet alarm sound in a city, without the people being afraid? Does evil happen to a city, and ForeverOne hasn't done it?

7Surely LordOfMine ForeverOne will do nothing, unless he reveals his secret to his servants the prophets.

8The lion has roared. Who will not fear? LordOfMine ForeverOne has spoken. Who can but prophesy?

9Proclaim in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, "Assemble yourselves on the mountains of Samaria, and see what unrest is in her, and what oppression is among them." 10"Indeed they don't know to do right," says ForeverOne, "Who hoard plunder and loot in their palaces." 11Therefore thus says LordOfMine ForeverOne: "An adversary will overrun the land; and he will pull down your strongholds, and your fortresses will be plundered." 12Thus says ForeverOne: "As the shepherd rescues out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Israel be rescued who sit in Samaria on the corner of a couch, and on the silken cushions of a bed." 13"Listen, and testify against the house of Jacob," says LordOfMine ForeverOne, the God of Armies.

14"For in the day that I visit the transgressions of Israel on him, I will also visit the altars of Bethel; and the horns of the altar will be cut off, and fall to the ground.

15I will strike the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory will perish, and the great houses will have an end," says ForeverOne.

Section 3

Lamentations 1:1-14

14 verses

Lamentations Chapter 1

1How the city sits solitary, that was full of people! She has become as a widow, who was great among the nations! She who was a princess among the provinces is become tributary!

2She weeps bitterly in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks; among all her lovers she has none to comfort her: All her friends have dealt treacherously with her; they are become her enemies.

3Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude; she dwells among the nations, she finds no rest: all her persecutors overtook her within the straits.

4The ways of Zion do mourn, because none come to the solemn assembly; all her gates are desolate, her priests do sigh: her virgins are afflicted, and she herself is in bitterness.

5Her adversaries are become the head, her enemies prosper; for ForeverOne has afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions: her young children are gone into captivity before the adversary.

6From the daughter of Zion all her majesty is departed: her princes are become like harts that find no pasture, they are gone without strength before the pursuer.

7Jerusalem remembers in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her pleasant things that were from the days of old: when her people fell into the hand of the adversary, and none helped her, The adversaries saw her, they mocked at her desolations.

8Jerusalem has grievously sinned; therefore she is become as an unclean thing; all who honored her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness: yes, she sighs, and turns backward.

9Her filthiness was in her skirts; she didn't remember her latter end; therefore is she come down wonderfully; she has no comforter: see, ForeverOne, my affliction; for the enemy has magnified himself.

10The adversary has spread out his hand on all her pleasant things: for she has seen that the nations are entered into her sanctuary, concerning whom you commanded that they should not enter into your assembly.

11All her people sigh, they seek bread; they have given their pleasant things for food to refresh the soul: look, ForeverOne, and see; for I have become abject.

12Is it nothing to you, all you who pass by? Look, and see if there be any sorrow like my sorrow, which is brought on me, With which ForeverOne has afflicted [me] in the day of his fierce anger.

13From on high has he sent fire into my bones, and it prevails against them; He has spread a net for my feet, he has turned me back: He has made me desolate and faint all the day.

14The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand. They are knit together. They have come up on my neck. He has made my strength fail. LordOfMine has delivered me into their hands, against whom I am not able to stand.

Section 4

1 John 2:12-29

18 verses

1 John Chapter 2

12I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.

13I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, little children, because you know the Father.

14I have written to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God remains in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

15Don't love the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father's love isn't in him.

16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, isn't the Father's, but is the world's.

17The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God's will remains forever.

18Little children, these are the end times, and as you heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen. By this we know that it is the final hour.

19They went out from us, but they didn't belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have continued with us. But they left, that they might be revealed that none of them belong to us.

20You have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all have knowledge.

21I have not written to you because you don't know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth.

22Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the AnointedOne? This is the Antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.

23Whoever denies the Son doesn't have the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also.

24So, as for you, let what you heard from the beginning remain in you. If what you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son, and in the Father.

25This is the promise which he promised us, the eternal life.

26These things I have written to you concerning those who would lead you astray.

27As for you, the anointing which you received from him remains in you, and you don't need for anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, you will remain in him.

28Now, little children, remain in him, that when he appears, we may have boldness, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

29If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him.
