Leviticus 4:13-26

Leviticus Chapter 4

13"'If the whole congregation of Israel sins, and the thing is hidden from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done any of the things which ForeverOne has commanded not to be done, and are guilty; 14when the sin in which they have sinned is known, then the assembly shall offer a young bull for a sin offering, and bring it before the Tent of Meeting.

15The elders of the congregation shall lay their hands on the head of the bull before ForeverOne; and the bull shall be killed before ForeverOne.

16The anointed priest shall bring of the blood of the bull to the Tent of Meeting: 17and the priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle it seven times before ForeverOne, before the veil.

18He shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar which is before ForeverOne, that is in the Tent of Meeting; and the rest of the blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the door of the Tent of Meeting.

19All its fat he shall take from it, and burn it on the altar.

20He shall do this with the bull; as he did with the bull of the sin offering, he will do with this; and the priest shall make atonement for them, and they shall be forgiven.

21He shall carry the bull outside the camp, and burn it as he burned the first bull. It is the sin offering for the assembly.

22"'When a ruler sins, and unwittingly does any one of all the things which ForeverOne his God has commanded not to be done, and is guilty; 23if his sin, in which he has sinned, is made known to him, he shall bring as his offering a goat, a male without blemish.

24He shall lay his hand on the head of the goat, and kill it in the place where they kill the burnt offering before ForeverOne. It is a sin offering.

25The priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering. He shall pour out the rest of its blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering.

26All its fat he shall burn on the altar, like the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall make atonement for him concerning his sin, and he will be forgiven.

2 Kings 24:5-25:7

2 Kings Chapter 24

5Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

6So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers; and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place.

7The king of Egypt didn't come out of his land any more; for the king of Babylon had taken, from the brook of Egypt to the river Euphrates, all that pertained to the king of Egypt.

8Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign; and he reigned in Jerusalem three months: and his mother's name was Nehushta the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.

9He did what was evil in the sight of ForeverOne, according to all that his father had done.

10At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up to Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.

11Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to the city, while his servants were besieging it; 12and Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers: and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign.

13He carried out there all the treasures of the house of ForeverOne, and the treasures of the king's house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold, which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of ForeverOne, as ForeverOne had said.

14He carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valor, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and the smiths; none remained, except the poorest sort of the people of the land.

15He carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon; and the king's mother, and the king's wives, and his officers, and the chief men of the land, carried he into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.

16All the men of might, even seven thousand, and the craftsmen and the smiths one thousand, all of them strong and apt for war, even them the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.

17The king of Babylon made Mattaniah, [Jehoiachin's] father's brother, king is his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah.

18Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

19He did what was evil in the sight of ForeverOne, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.

20For it happened in Jerusalem and Judah through the anger of ForeverOne, until he had put them out of his presence. Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

2 Kings Chapter 25

1In the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and encamped against it; and they built forts against it around it.

2So the city was besieged to the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.

3On the ninth day of the [fourth] month the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.

4Then a breach was made in the city, and all the men of war [fled] by night on the road of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king's garden (now the Chaldeans were against the city around it); and [the king] went by the way of the Arabah.

5But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.

6Then they took the king, and carried him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they gave judgment on him.

7They killed the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him in fetters, and carried him to Babylon.

Job Chapter 20

1Then Zophar the Naamathite answered, 2"Therefore do my thoughts give answer to me, even by reason of my haste that is in me.

3I have heard the reproof which puts me to shame. The spirit of my understanding answers me.

4Don't you know this from old time, since man was placed on earth, 5that the triumphing of the wicked is short, the joy of the godless but for a moment?

6Though his height mount up to the heavens, and his head reach to the clouds, 7yet he shall perish forever like his own dung. Those who have seen him shall say, 'Where is he?' 8He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found. Yes, he shall be chased away like a vision of the night.

9The eye which saw him shall see him no more, neither shall his place any more see him.

10His children shall seek the favor of the poor. His hands shall give back his wealth.

11His bones are full of his youth, but youth shall lie down with him in the dust.

12"Though wickedness is sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue, 13though he spare it, and will not let it go, but keep it still within his mouth; 14yet his food in his bowels is turned. It is cobra venom within him.

15He has swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again. God will throw them out of his belly.

16He shall suck cobra venom. The viper's tongue shall kill him.

17He shall not look at the rivers, the flowing streams of honey and butter.

18That for which he labored he shall restore, and shall not swallow it down. According to the substance that he has obtained, he shall not rejoice.

19For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor. He has violently taken away a house, and he shall not build it up.

20"Because he knew no quietness within him, he shall not save anything of that in which he delights.

21There was nothing left that he didn't devour, therefore his prosperity shall not endure.

22In the fullness of his sufficiency, distress shall overtake him. The hand of everyone who is in misery shall come on him.

23When he is about to fill his belly, He will throw the fierceness of his wrath on him. It will rain on him while he is eating.

24He shall flee from the iron weapon. The bronze arrow shall strike him through.

25He withdraws it, and it comes out of his body. Yes, the glittering point comes out of his liver. Terrors are on him.

26All darkness is laid up for his treasures. An unfanned fire shall devour him. It shall consume what is left in his tent.

27The heavens shall reveal his iniquity. The earth shall rise up against him.

28The increase of his house shall depart. They shall rush away in the day of his wrath.

29This is the portion of a wicked man from God, the heritage appointed to him by God."

Acts 1:1-20

Acts Chapter 1

1The first book I wrote, Theophilus, concerned all that Jesus began both to do and to teach, 2until the day in which he was received up, after he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.

3To these he also showed himself alive after he suffered, by many proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days, and speaking about God's Kingdom.

4Being assembled together with them, he commanded them, "Don't depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you heard from me.

5For John indeed baptized in water, but you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now." 6So when they had come together, they asked him, "Lord, are you now restoring the kingdom to Israel?" 7He said to them, "It isn't for you to know times or seasons which the Father has set within his own authority.

8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth." 9When he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight.

10While they were looking steadfastly into the sky as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white clothing, 11who also said, "You men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who was received up from you into the sky, will come back in the same way as you saw him going into the sky." 12Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mountain called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey away.

13When they had come in, they went up into the upper room where they were staying; that is Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.

14All these with one accord continued steadfastly in prayer and supplication, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

15In these days, Peter stood up in the middle of the disciples (and the number of names was about one hundred twenty), and said, 16"Brothers, it was necessary that this Scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to those who took Jesus.

17For he was counted with us, and received his portion in this ministry.

18Now this man obtained a field with the reward for his wickedness, and falling headlong, his body burst open, and all his intestines gushed out.

19It became known to everyone who lived in Jerusalem that in their language that field was called 'Akeldama,' that is, 'The field of blood.' 20For it is written in the book of Psalms, 'Let his habitation be made desolate. Let no one dwell there;' and, 'Let another take his office.'
