Genesis Chapter 30

1When Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister. She said to Jacob, "Give me children, or else I will die." 2Jacob's anger burned against Rachel, and he said, "Am I in God's place, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?" 3She said, "Behold, my maid Bilhah. Go in to her, that she may bear on my knees, and I also may obtain children by her." 4She gave him Bilhah her handmaid [to be his] wife, and Jacob went in to her.

5Bilhah conceived, and bore Jacob a son.

6Rachel said, "God has judged me, and has also heard my voice, and has given me a son." Therefore she called his name Dan.

7Bilhah, Rachel's handmaid, conceived again, and bore Jacob a second son.

8Rachel said, "I have wrestled with my sister with mighty wrestlings, and have prevailed." She named him Naphtali.

9When Leah saw that she had finished bearing, she took Zilpah, her handmaid, and gave her to Jacob as a wife.

10Zilpah, Leah's handmaid, bore Jacob a son.

11Leah said, "How fortunate!" She named him Gad.

12Zilpah, Leah's handmaid, bore Jacob a second son.

13Leah said, "Happy am I, for the daughters will call me happy." She named him Asher.

14Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them to his mother, Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, "Please give me some of your son's mandrakes." 15She said to her, "Is it a small matter that you have taken away my husband? Would you take away my son's mandrakes, also?" Rachel said, "Therefore he will lie with you tonight for your son's mandrakes." 16Jacob came from the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, "You must come in to me; for I have surely hired you with my son's mandrakes." He lay with her that night.

17God listened to Leah, and she conceived, and bore Jacob a fifth son.

18Leah said, "God has given me my hire, because I gave my handmaid to my husband." She named him Issachar.

19Leah conceived again, and bore a sixth son to Jacob.

20Leah said, "God has endowed me with a good dowry. Now my husband will live with me, because I have borne him six sons." She named him Zebulun.

21Afterwards, she bore a daughter, and named her Dinah.

22God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her, and opened her womb.

23She conceived, bore a son, and said, "God has taken away my reproach." 24She named him Joseph, saying, "May ForeverOne add another son to me."

Judges 20:26-48

23 verses

Judges Chapter 20

26Then all the children of Israel, and all the people, went up, and came to Bethel, and wept, and sat there before ForeverOne, and fasted that day until evening; and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before ForeverOne.

27The children of Israel asked of ForeverOne (for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days, 28and Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days), saying, "Shall I yet again go out to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother, or shall I cease?" ForeverOne said, "Go up; for tomorrow I will deliver him into your hand." 29Israel set ambushes all around Gibeah.

30The children of Israel went up against the children of Benjamin on the third day, and set themselves in array against Gibeah, as at other times.

31The children of Benjamin went out against the people, and were drawn away from the city; and they began to strike and kill of the people, as at other times, in the highways, of which one goes up to Bethel, and the other to Gibeah, in the field, about thirty men of Israel.

32The children of Benjamin said, "They are struck down before us, as at the first." But the children of Israel said, "Let us flee, and draw them away from the city to the highways." 33All the men of Israel rose up out of their place, and set themselves in array at Baal Tamar: and the ambushers of Israel broke out of their place, even out of Maareh Geba.

34There came over against Gibeah ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was severe; but they didn't know that evil was close on them.

35ForeverOne struck Benjamin before Israel; and the children of Israel destroyed of Benjamin that day twenty-five thousand one hundred men: all these drew the sword.

36So the children of Benjamin saw that they were struck; for the men of Israel gave place to Benjamin, because they trusted the ambushers whom they had set against Gibeah.

37The ambushers hurried, and rushed on Gibeah; and the ambushers drew themselves along, and struck all the city with the edge of the sword.

38Now the appointed sign between the men of Israel and the ambushers was that they should make a great cloud of smoke rise up out of the city.

39The men of Israel turned in the battle, and Benjamin began to strike and kill of the men of Israel about thirty persons; for they said, "Surely they are struck down before us, as in the first battle." 40But when the cloud began to arise up out of the city in a pillar of smoke, the Benjamites looked behind them; and behold, the whole of the city went up in smoke to the sky.

41The men of Israel turned, and the men of Benjamin were dismayed; for they saw that evil had come on them.

42Therefore they turned their backs before the men of Israel to the way of the wilderness; but the battle followed hard after them; and those who came out of the cities destroyed them in its midst.

43They surrounded the Benjamites, pursued them, [and] trod them down at [their] resting place, as far as over against Gibeah toward the sunrise.

44There fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand men; all these [were] men of valor.

45They turned and fled toward the wilderness to the rock of Rimmon: and they gleaned of them in the highways five thousand men, and followed hard after them to Gidom, and struck of them two thousand men.

46So that all who fell that day of Benjamin were twenty-five thousand men who drew the sword; all these [were] men of valor.

47But six hundred men turned and fled toward the wilderness to the rock of Rimmon, and stayed in the rock of Rimmon four months.

48The men of Israel turned again on the children of Benjamin, and struck them with the edge of the sword, both the entire city, and the livestock, and all that they found: moreover all the cities which they found they set on fire.

1 Chronicles 28:20-29:13

15 verses

1 Chronicles Chapter 28

20David said to Solomon his son, "Be strong and courageous, and do it. Don't be afraid, nor be dismayed; for ForeverOne God, even my God, is with you. He will not fail you, nor forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of ForeverOne is finished.

21Behold, there are the divisions of the priests and the Levites, for all the service of the house of God. There shall be with you in all kinds of work every willing man who has skill, for any kind of service. Also the captains and all the people will be entirely at your command."

1 Chronicles Chapter 29

1David the king said to all the assembly, "Solomon my son, whom alone God has chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great; for the palace is not for man, but for ForeverOne God.

2Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for the [things of] gold, and the silver for the [things of] silver, and the brass for the [things of] brass, the iron for the [things of] iron, and wood for the [things of] wood; onyx stones, and [stones] to be set, stones for inlaid work, and of various colors, and all kinds of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.

3In addition, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, since I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, I give it to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, 4even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, with which to overlay the walls of the houses; 5of gold for the [things of] gold, and of silver for the [things of] silver, and for all kinds of work [to be made] by the hands of artificers. Who then offers willingly to consecrate himself today to ForeverOne?" 6Then the princes of the fathers' [houses], and the princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers over the king's work, offered willingly; 7and they gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand darics, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and of iron a hundred thousand talents.

8They with whom [precious] stones were found gave them to the treasure of the house of ForeverOne, under the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.

9Then the people rejoiced, because they offered willingly, because with a perfect heart they offered willingly to ForeverOne: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

10Therefore David blessed ForeverOne before all the assembly; and David said, "You are blessed, ForeverOne, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever.

11Yours, ForeverOne, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty! For all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, ForeverOne, and you are exalted as head above all.

12Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all; and in your hand is power and might; and it is in your hand to make great, and to give strength to all.

13Now therefore, our God, we thank you, and praise your glorious name.

Mark 1:1-22

Mark Chapter 1

1The beginning of the Good News of Jesus AnointedOne, the Son of God.

2As it is written in the prophets, "Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you: 3the voice of one crying in the wilderness, 'Make ready the way of ForeverOne! Make his paths straight!'" 4John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching the baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins.

5All the country of Judea and all those of Jerusalem went out to him. They were baptized by him in the Jordan river, confessing their sins.

6John was clothed with camel's hair and a leather belt around his waist. He ate locusts and wild honey.

7He preached, saying, "After me comes he who is mightier than I, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loosen.

8I baptized you in water, but he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit." 9In those days, Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.

10Immediately coming up from the water, he saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.

11A voice came out of the sky, "You are my dear Son, in whom I am well pleased." 12Immediately the Spirit drove him out into the wilderness.

13He was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals; and the angels were serving him.

14Now after John was taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the Good News of God's Kingdom, 15and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and God's Kingdom is at hand! Repent, and believe in the Good News." 16Passing along by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew, the brother of Simon, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.

17Jesus said to them, "Come after me, and I will make you into fishers for men." 18Immediately they left their nets, and followed him.

19Going on a little further from there, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets.

20Immediately he called them, and they left their father, Zebedee, in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him.

21They went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath day he entered into the synagogue and taught.

22They were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes.
