Genesis 13:1-13

Genesis Chapter 13

1So Abram left Egypt- he, his wife, all that he had, and Lot with him- to the South.

2Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.

3He went on his journeys from the South as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai, 4to the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first. There Abram called on the name of ForeverOne.

5Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, herds, and tents.

6But the land was not able to support them both: for their possessions were so great that they couldn't live together.

7There was conflict between the herdsmen of Abram's livestock and the herdsmen of Lot's livestock. The Canaanite and the Perizzite lived in the land at that time.

8Abram said to Lot, "Please, let there be no strife between me and you, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are relatives.

9Isn't the whole land before you? Please separate yourself from me. If you go to the left hand, then I will go to the right. Or if you go to the right hand, then I will go to the left." 10Lot lifted up his eyes, and saw all the plain of the Jordan, that it was well-watered everywhere, before ForeverOne destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of ForeverOne, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar.

11So Lot chose the Plain of the Jordan for himself. Lot traveled east, and they separated themselves from one another.

12Abram lived in the land of Canaan, and Lot lived in the cities of the plain, and moved his tent as far as Sodom.

13Now the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinners against ForeverOne.

Joshua Chapter 18

1The whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled themselves together at Shiloh, and set up the Tent of Meeting there. The land was subdued before them.

2Seven tribes remained among the children of Israel, which had not yet divided their inheritance.

3Joshua said to the children of Israel, "How long will you neglect to go in to possess the land, which ForeverOne, the God of your fathers, has given you?

4Appoint for yourselves three men from each tribe. I will send them, and they shall arise, walk through the land, and describe it according to their inheritance; and they shall come to me.

5They shall divide it into seven portions. Judah shall live in his borders on the south, and the house of Joseph shall live in their borders on the north.

6You shall survey the land into seven parts, and bring the description here to me; and I will cast lots for you here before ForeverOne our God.

7For the Levites have no portion among you; for the priesthood of ForeverOne is their inheritance. Gad, Reuben, and the half-tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance beyond the Jordan eastward, which Moses the servant of ForeverOne gave them." 8The men arose and went. Joshua commanded those who went to survey the land, saying, "Go walk through the land, survey it, and return to me. I will cast lots for you here before ForeverOne in Shiloh." 9The men went and passed through the land, and surveyed it by cities into seven portions in a book. They came to Joshua to the camp at Shiloh.

10Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before ForeverOne. There Joshua divided the land to the children of Israel according to their divisions.

11The lot of the tribe of the children of Benjamin came up according to their families. The border of their lot went out between the children of Judah and the children of Joseph.

12Their border on the north quarter was from the Jordan. The border went up to the side of Jericho on the north, and went up through the hill country westward. It ended at the wilderness of Beth Aven.

13The border passed along from there to Luz, to the side of Luz (which is Bethel), southward. The border went down to Ataroth Addar, by the mountain that lies on the south of Beth Horon the lower.

14The border extended, and turned around on the west quarter southward, from the mountain that lies before Beth Horon southward; and ended at Kiriath Baal (which is Kiriath Jearim), a city of the children of Judah. This was the west quarter.

15The south quarter was from the farthest part of Kiriath Jearim. The border went out westward, and went out to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah.

16The border went down to the farthest part of the mountain that lies before the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is in the valley of Rephaim northward. It went down to the valley of Hinnom, to the side of the Jebusite southward, and went down to En Rogel.

17It extended northward, went out at En Shemesh, and went out to Geliloth, which is over against the ascent of Adummim. It went down to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben.

18It passed along to the side over against the Arabah northward, and went down to the Arabah.

19The border passed along to the side of Beth Hoglah northward; and the border ended at the north bay of the Salt Sea, at the south end of the Jordan. This was the south border.

20The Jordan was its border on the east quarter. This was the inheritance of the children of Benjamin, by the borders around it, according to their families.

Matthew 12:33-50

Matthew Chapter 12

33"Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree rotten and its fruit rotten; for the tree is known by its fruit.

34You offspring of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

35The good man out of his good treasure brings out good things, and the evil man out of his evil treasure brings out evil things.

36I tell you that every idle word that men speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

37For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." 38Then certain of the scribes and Pharisees answered, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from you." 39But he answered them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, but no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet.

40For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the huge fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

41The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, someone greater than Jonah is here.

42The Queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, someone greater than Solomon is here.

43"When an unclean spirit has gone out of someone it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and doesn't find it.

44Then he says, 'I will return into my house from which I came;' and when he has come back, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order.

45Then he goes and takes with himself seven other spirits more evil than he is, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first. Even so will it be also to this evil generation." 46While he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, seeking to speak to him.

47One said to him, "Behold, your mother and your brothers stand outside, seeking to speak to you." 48But he answered him who spoke to him, "Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?" 49He stretched out his hand towards his disciples, and said, "Behold, my mother and my brothers!

50For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother."
