Genesis Chapter 42

³⁵As they emptied their sacks, behold, each man's bundle of money was in his sack. When they and their father saw their bundles of money, they were afraid.

³⁶Jacob, their father, said to them, "You have bereaved me of my children! Joseph is no more, Simeon is no more, and you want to take Benjamin away. All these things are against me." ³⁷Reuben spoke to his father, saying, "Kill my two sons, if I don't bring him to you. Entrust him to my care, and I will bring him to you again." ³⁸He said, "My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he only is left. If harm happens to him along the way in which you go, then you will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol."

Genesis Chapter 43

²When they had eaten up the grain which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said to them, "Go again, buy us a little more food." ³Judah spoke to him, saying, "The man solemnly warned us, saying, 'You won't see my face, unless your brother is with you.' ⁴If you'll send our brother with us, we'll go down and buy you food, ⁵but if you'll not send him, we'll not go down, for the man said to us, 'You won't see my face, unless your brother is with you.'" ⁶Israel said, "Why did you treat me so badly, telling the man that you had another brother?" ⁷They said, "The man asked directly concerning ourselves, and concerning our relatives, saying, 'Is your father still alive? Have you another brother?' We just answered his questions. Is there any way we could know that he would say, 'Bring your brother down?" ⁸Judah said to Israel, his father, "Send the boy with me, and we'll get up and go, so that we may live, and not die, both we, and you, and also our little ones.

⁹I'll be collateral for him. From my hand will you require him. If I don't bring him to you, and set him before you, then let me bear the blame forever, ¹⁰for if we hadn't delayed, surely we would have returned a second time by now."

1 Samuel Chapter 23

¹⁹Then the Ziphites came up to Saul to Gibeah, saying, "Doesn't David hide himself with us in the strongholds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of the desert?

²⁰Now therefore, O king, come down, according to all the desire of your soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him up into the king's hand." ²¹Saul said, "You are blessed by ForeverOne; for you have had compassion on me.

²²Please go make yet more sure, and know and see his place where his haunt is, [and] who has seen him there; for it is told me that he deals very subtly.

²³See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hides himself, and return to me with certainty, and I will go with you: and if he is in the land I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah." ²⁴They arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the Arabah on the south of the desert.

²⁵Saul and his men went to seek him. When David was told, he went down to the rock, and stayed in the wilderness of Maon. When Saul heard [that], he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.

²⁶Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men surrounded David and his men to take them.

²⁷But a messenger came to Saul, saying, "Hurry and come; for the Philistines have made a raid on the land!" ²⁸So Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Sela Hammahlekoth.

²⁹David went up from there, and lived in the strongholds of En Gedi.

1 Samuel Chapter 24

¹When Saul had returned from following the Philistines he was told, saying, "Behold, David is in the wilderness of En Gedi." ²Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men on the rocks of the wild goats.

³He came to the sheep pens along the road, where there was a cave; and Saul went in to relieve himself. Now David and his men were abiding in the innermost parts of the cave.

⁴The men of David said to him, "Behold, the day of which ForeverOne said to you, 'Behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it shall seem good to you.'" Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe secretly.

⁵Afterward, David's heart struck him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt.

⁶He said to his men, "ForeverOne forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, ForeverOne's anointed, to reach out my hand against him, since he is ForeverOne's anointed." ⁷So David checked his men with these words, and didn't allow them to rise against Saul. Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.

⁸David also arose afterward, and went out of the cave, and cried after Saul, saying, "My lord the king!" When Saul looked behind him, David bowed with his face to the earth, and showed respect.

⁹David said to Saul, "Why do you listen to men's words, saying, 'Behold, David seeks your hurt?' ¹⁰Behold, today your eyes have seen how ForeverOne had delivered you today into my hand in the cave. Some urged me to kill you; but I spared you; and I said, I will not reach out my hand against my lord; for he is ForeverOne's anointed.

¹¹Moreover, my father, behold, yes, see the skirt of your robe in my hand; for in that I cut off the skirt of your robe, and didn't kill you, know and see that there is neither evil nor disobedience in my hand, and I have not sinned against you, though you hunt for my life to take it.

¹²May ForeverOne judge between me and you, and may ForeverOne avenge me of you; but my hand shall not be on you.

¹³As the proverb of the ancients says, 'Out of the wicked comes out wickedness;' but my hand shall not be on you.

¹⁴Against whom has the king of Israel come out? Whom do you pursue? A dead dog? A flea?

¹⁵May ForeverOne therefore be judge, and give sentence between me and you, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of your hand."

2 Chronicles Chapter 20

⁵Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of ForeverOne, before the new court; ⁶and he said, "ForeverOne, the God of our fathers, aren't you God in heaven? Aren't you ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in your hand, so that no one is able to withstand you.

⁷Didn't you, our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and give it to the offspring of Abraham your friend forever?

⁸They lived in it, and have built you a sanctuary in it for your name, saying, ⁹'If evil comes on us - the sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine - we will stand before this house, and before you, (for your name is in this house), and cry to you in our affliction, and you will hear and save.' ¹⁰Now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, whom you would not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned aside from them, and didn't destroy them; ¹¹behold, how they reward us, to come to throw us out of your possession, which you have given us to inherit.

¹²Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no might against this great group that comes against us; neither know we what to do, but our eyes are on you." ¹³All Judah stood before ForeverOne, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.

¹⁴Then the Spirit of ForeverOne came on Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, the Levite, of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly; ¹⁵and he said, "Listen, all Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you king Jehoshaphat. Thus says ForeverOne to you, 'Don't be afraid, neither be dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.

¹⁶Tomorrow go down against them. Behold, they are coming up by the ascent of Ziz. You shall find them at the end of the valley, before the wilderness of Jeruel.

¹⁷You will not need to fight this battle. Set yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of ForeverOne with you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Don't be afraid, nor be dismayed. Go out against them tomorrow, for ForeverOne is with you.'" ¹⁸Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground; and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before ForeverOne, worshipping ForeverOne.

¹⁹The Levites, of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of the Korahites, stood up to praise ForeverOne, the God of Israel, with an exceeding loud voice.

Mark Chapter 14

³²They came to a place which was named Gethsemane. He said to his disciples, "Sit here, while I pray." ³³He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to be greatly troubled and distressed.

³⁴He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here, and watch." ³⁵He went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him.

³⁶He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Please remove this cup from me. However, not what I desire, but what you desire." ³⁷He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "Simon, are you sleeping? Couldn't you watch one hour?

³⁸Watch and pray, that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." ³⁹Again he went away, and prayed, saying the same words.

⁴⁰Again he returned, and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy, and they didn't know what to answer him.

⁴¹He came the third time, and said to them, "Sleep on now, and take your rest. It is enough. The hour has come. Behold, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

⁴²Arise! Let's get going. Behold: he who betrays me is at hand." ⁴³Immediately, while he was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, came- and with him a multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders.

⁴⁴Now he who betrayed him had given them a sign, saying, "Whomever I will kiss, that is he. Seize him, and lead him away safely." ⁴⁵When he had come, immediately he came to him, and said, "Rabbi! Rabbi!" and kissed him.

⁴⁶They laid their hands on him, and seized him.

⁴⁷But a certain one of those who stood by drew his sword, and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

⁴⁸Jesus answered them, "Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to seize me?

⁴⁹I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and you didn't arrest me. But this is so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled." ⁵⁰They all left him, and fled.

⁵¹A certain young man followed him, having a linen cloth thrown around himself over his naked body. The young men grabbed him, ⁵²but he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.
