Genesis 10:21-11:9

21 verses

Genesis Chapter 10

21Children were also born to Shem (the elder brother of Japheth), the father of all the children of Eber.

22The sons of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram.

23The sons of Aram were Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.

24Arpachshad became the father of Shelah. Shelah became the father of Eber.

25To Eber were born two sons. The name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided. His brother's name was Joktan.

26Joktan became the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 27Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 28Obal, Abimael, Sheba, 29Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were the sons of Joktan.

30Their region extended from Mesha, as you go toward Sephar, the mountain of the east.

31These are the sons of Shem, by their families, according to their languages, lands, and nations.

32These are the families of the sons of Noah, by their generations, according to their nations. The nations divided from these in the earth after the flood.

Genesis Chapter 11

1The whole earth was of one language and of one speech.

2As they traveled east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they lived there.

3They said to one another, "Come, let's make bricks, and burn them thoroughly." They had brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar.

4They said, "Come, let's build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top reaches to the sky, and let's make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad on the surface of the whole earth." 5ForeverOne came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men built.

6ForeverOne said, "Behold, they are one people, and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do. Now nothing will be withheld from them, which they intend to do.

7Come, let's go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech." 8So ForeverOne scattered them abroad from there on the surface of all the earth. They stopped building the city.

9Therefore its name was called Babel, because there ForeverOne confused the language of all the earth. From there, ForeverOne scattered them abroad on the surface of all the earth.

Joshua 14:6-15:12

22 verses

Joshua Chapter 14

6Then the children of Judah drew near to Joshua in Gilgal. Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, "You know the thing that ForeverOne spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and concerning you in Kadesh Barnea.

7I was forty years old when Moses the servant of ForeverOne sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land. I brought him word again as it was in my heart.

8Nevertheless, my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed ForeverOne my God.

9Moses swore on that day, saying, 'Surely the land where you walked shall be an inheritance to you and to your children forever, because you have wholly followed ForeverOne my God.' 10"Now, behold, ForeverOne has kept me alive, as he spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that ForeverOne spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness. Now, behold, I am eighty-five years old, today.

11As yet I am as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now for war, to go out and to come in.

12Now therefore give me this hill country, of which ForeverOne spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and great and fortified cities. It may be that ForeverOne will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as ForeverOne spoke." 13Joshua blessed him; and he gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance.

14Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day; because he wholly followed ForeverOne, the God of Israel.

15Now the name of Hebron before was Kiriath Arba, after the greatest man among the Anakim. The land had rest from war.

Joshua Chapter 15

1The lot for the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families was to the border of Edom, even to the wilderness of Zin southward, at the uttermost part of the south.

2Their south border was from the uttermost part of the Salt Sea, from the bay that looks southward; 3and it went out southward of the ascent of Akrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and went up by the south of Kadesh Barnea, and passed along by Hezron, went up to Addar, and turned about to Karka; 4and it passed along to Azmon, went out at the brook of Egypt; and the border ended at the sea. This shall be your south border.

5The east border was the Salt Sea, even to the end of the Jordan. The border of the north quarter was from the bay of the sea at the end of the Jordan.

6The border went up to Beth Hoglah, and passed along by the north of Beth Arabah; and the border went up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben.

7The border went up to Debir from the valley of Achor, and so northward, looking toward Gilgal, that is over against the ascent of Adummim, which is on the south side of the river. The border passed along to the waters of En Shemesh, and ended at En Rogel.

8The border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom to the side of the Jebusite southward (which is Jerusalem); and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lies before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the farthest part of the valley of Rephaim northward.

9The border extended from the top of the mountain to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of Mount Ephron; and the border extended to Baalah (which is Kiriath Jearim); 10and the border turned about from Baalah westward to Mount Seir, and passed along to the side of Mount Jearim on the north (which is Chesalon), and went down to Beth Shemesh, and passed along by Timnah; 11and the border went out to the side of Ekron northward; and the border extended to Shikkeron, and passed along to Mount Baalah, and went out at Jabneel; and the goings out of the border were at the sea.

12The west border was to the shore of the great sea. This is the border of the children of Judah according to their families.

1 Chronicles Chapter 6

31These are they whom David set over the service of song in the house of ForeverOne, after the ark had [come to] rest.

32They ministered with song before the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting, until Solomon had built the house of ForeverOne in Jerusalem: and they waited on their office according to their order.

33These are those who waited, and their sons. Of the sons of the Kohathites were Heman the singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel, 34the son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliel, the son of Toah, 35the son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai, 36the son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah, 37the son of Tahath, the son of Assir, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, 38the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.

39His brother Asaph, who stood on his right hand, even Asaph the son of Berechiah, the son of Shimea, 40the son of Michael, the son of Baaseiah, the son of Malchijah, 41the son of Ethni, the son of Zerah, the son of Adaiah, 42the son of Ethan, the son of Zimmah, the son of Shimei, 43the son of Jahath, the son of Gershom, the son of Levi.

44On the left hand their brothers the sons of Merari were Ethan the son of Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch, 45the son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah, 46the son of Amzi, the son of Bani, the son of Shemer, 47the son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.

48Their brothers the Levites were appointed for all the service of the tabernacle of the house of God.

49But Aaron and his sons offered on the altar of burnt offering, and on the altar of incense, for all the work of the most holy place, and to make atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.

50These are the sons of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son, 51Bukki his son, Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son, 52Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son, 53Zadok his son, Ahimaaz his son.

Matthew 10:40-11:15

18 verses

Matthew Chapter 10

40"He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives him who sent me.

41He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet's reward. He who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man will receive a righteous man's reward.

42Whoever gives one of these little ones just a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, most certainly I tell you, he will in no way lose his reward."

Matthew Chapter 11

1When Jesus had finished directing his twelve disciples, he departed from there to teach and preach in their cities.

2Now when John heard in the prison the actions of the AnointedOne, he sent two of his disciples 3and said to him, "Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?" 4Jesus answered them, "Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: 5the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.

6Blessed is he who finds no occasion for stumbling in me." 7As they went their way, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John, "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

8But what did you go out to see? A man in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.

9But why did you go out? To see a prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.

10For this is he, of whom it is written, 'Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.' 11Most certainly I tell you, among those who are born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptizer; yet he who is least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he.

12From the days of John the Baptizer until now, the Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.

13For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

14If you are willing to receive it, this is Elijah, who is to come.

15He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
