Exodus 9:8-21

Exodus Chapter 9

8ForeverOne said to Moses and to Aaron, "Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the sky in the sight of Pharaoh.

9It shall become small dust over all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking out with boils on man and on animal, throughout all the land of Egypt." 10They took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward the sky; and it became a boil breaking out with boils on man and on animal.

11The magicians couldn't stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boils were on the magicians, and on all the Egyptians.

12ForeverOne hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he didn't listen to them, as ForeverOne had spoken to Moses.

13ForeverOne said to Moses, "Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and tell him, 'This is what ForeverOne, the God of the Hebrews, says: "Let my people go, that they may serve me.

14For this time I will send all my plagues against your heart, against your officials, and against your people; that you may know that there is none like me in all the earth.

15For now I would have put out my hand, and struck you and your people with pestilence, and you would have been cut off from the earth; 16but indeed for this cause I have made you stand: to show you my power, and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth; 17as you still exalt yourself against my people, that you won't let them go.

18Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as has not been in Egypt since the day it was founded even until now.

19Now therefore command that all of your livestock and all that you have in the field be brought into shelter. Every man and animal that is found in the field, and isn't brought home, the hail shall come down on them, and they shall die."'" 20Those who feared the word of ForeverOne among the servants of Pharaoh made their servants and their livestock flee into the houses.

21Whoever didn't respect the word of ForeverOne left his servants and his livestock in the field.

2 Samuel 19:40-20:19

2 Samuel Chapter 19

40So the king went over to Gilgal, and Chimham went over with him. All the people of Judah brought the king over, and also half the people of Israel.

41Behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said to the king, "Why have our brothers the men of Judah stolen you away, and brought the king, and his household, over the Jordan, and all David's men with him?" 42All the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, "Because the king is a close relative to us. Then why are you angry about this matter? Have we eaten at all at the king's cost? Or has he given us any gift?" 43The men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, "We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more claim to David than you. Then why did you despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king?" The words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.

2 Samuel Chapter 20

1There happened to be there a base fellow, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite: and he blew the trumpet, and said, "We have no portion in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse. Every man to his tents, Israel!" 2So all the men of Israel went up from following David, and followed Sheba the son of Bichri; but the men of Judah joined with their king, from the Jordan even to Jerusalem.

3David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in custody, and provided them with sustenance, but didn't go in to them. So they were shut up to the day of their death, living in widowhood.

4Then the king said to Amasa, "Call the men of Judah together to me within three days, and be present here." 5So Amasa went to call [the men of] Judah together; but he stayed longer than the set time which he had appointed him.

6David said to Abishai, "Now Sheba the son of Bichri will do us more harm than Absalom did. Take your lord's servants, and pursue after him, lest he get himself fortified cities, and escape out of our sight." 7There went out after him Joab's men, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and all the mighty men; and they went out of Jerusalem, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.

8When they were at the great stone which is in Gibeon, Amasa came to meet them. Joab was clothed in his apparel of war that he had put on, and on it was a sash with a sword fastened on his waist in its sheath; and as he went out it fell out.

9Joab said to Amasa, "Is it well with you, my brother?" Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him.

10But Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in Joab's hand. So he struck him with it in the body, and shed out his bowels to the ground, and didn't strike him again; and he died. Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri.

11There stood by him one of Joab's young men, and said, "He who favors Joab, and he who is for David, let him follow Joab!" 12Amasa lay wallowing in his blood in the midst of the highway. When the man saw that all the people stood still, he carried Amasa out of the highway into the field, and threw a garment over him, when he saw that everyone who came by him stood still.

13When he was removed out of the highway, all the people went on after Joab, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.

14He went through all the tribes of Israel to Abel, and to Beth Maacah, and all the Berites: and they were gathered together, and went also after him.

15They came and besieged him in Abel of Beth Maacah, and they built a siege ramp against the city, and it stood against the rampart; and all the people who were with Joab battered the wall, to throw it down.

16Then a wise woman cried out of the city, "Hear, hear! Please say to Joab, 'Come near here, that I may speak with you.'" 17He came near to her; and the woman said, "Are you Joab?" He answered, "I am." Then she said to him, "Hear the words of your handmaid." He answered, "I do hear." 18Then she spoke, saying, "They were used to say in old times, 'They shall surely ask counsel at Abel;' and so they settled it.

19I am among those who are peaceable and faithful in Israel. You seek to destroy a city and a mother in Israel. Why will you swallow up the inheritance of ForeverOne?"

Luke 11:1-23

Luke Chapter 11

1When he finished praying in a certain place, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples." 2He said to them, "When you pray, say, 'Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

3Give us day by day our daily bread.

4Forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.'" 5He said to them, "Which of you, if you go to a friend at midnight, and tell him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, 6for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him,' 7and he from within will answer and say, 'Don't bother me. The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I can't get up and give it to you'?

8I tell you, although he will not rise and give it to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence, he will get up and give him as many as he needs.

9"I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you.

10For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.

11"Which of you fathers, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he won't give him a snake instead of a fish, will he?

12Or if he asks for an egg, he won't give him a scorpion, will he?

13If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?" 14He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. When the demon had gone out, the mute man spoke; and the multitudes marveled.

15But some of them said, "He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons." 16Others, testing him, sought from him a sign from heaven.

17But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation. A house divided against itself falls.

18If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul.

19But if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.

20But if I by God's finger cast out demons, then God's Kingdom has come to you.

21"When the strong man, fully armed, guards his own dwelling, his goods are safe.

22But when someone stronger attacks him and overcomes him, he takes from him his whole armor in which he trusted, and divides his plunder.

23"He that is not with me is against me. He who doesn't gather with me scatters.
