Exodus Chapter 8

25Pharaoh called for Moses and for Aaron, and said, "Go, sacrifice to your God in the land!" 26Moses said, "It isn't appropriate to do so; for we shall sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians to ForeverOne our God. Behold, shall we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, and won't they stone us?

27We will go three days' journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to ForeverOne our God, as he shall command us." 28Pharaoh said, "I will let you go, that you may sacrifice to ForeverOne your God in the wilderness, only don't go very far away. Pray for me." 29Moses said, "Behold, I go out from you, and I will pray to ForeverOne that the swarms of flies may depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people, tomorrow; only don't let Pharaoh deal deceitfully any more in not letting the people go to sacrifice to ForeverOne." 30Moses went out from Pharaoh, and prayed to ForeverOne.

31ForeverOne did according to the word of Moses, and he removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people. There remained not one.

32Pharaoh hardened his heart this time also, and he didn't let the people go.

Exodus Chapter 9

1Then ForeverOne said to Moses, "Go in to Pharaoh, and tell him, 'This is what ForeverOne, the God of the Hebrews, says: "Let my people go, that they may serve me.

2For if you refuse to let them go, and hold them still, 3behold, the hand of ForeverOne is on your livestock which are in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the herds, and on the flocks with a very grievous pestilence.

4ForeverOne will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt; and nothing shall die of all that belongs to the children of Israel."'" 5ForeverOne appointed a set time, saying, "Tomorrow ForeverOne shall do this thing in the land." 6ForeverOne did that thing on the next day; and all the livestock of Egypt died, but of the livestock of the children of Israel, not one died.

7Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not so much as one of the livestock of the Israelites dead. But the heart of Pharaoh was stubborn, and he didn't let the people go.

2 Samuel 19:16-39

2 Samuel Chapter 19

16Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, who was of Bahurim, hurried and came down with the men of Judah to meet king David.

17There were a thousand men of Benjamin with him, and Ziba the servant of the house of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him; and they went through the Jordan in the presence of the king.

18A ferry boat went to bring over the king's household, and to do what he thought good. Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king, when he had come over the Jordan.

19He said to the king, "Don't let my lord impute iniquity to me, neither do you remember what your servant did perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.

20For your servant knows that I have sinned. Therefore, behold, I have come today the first of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king." 21But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered, "Shall Shimei not be put to death for this, because he cursed ForeverOne's anointed?" 22David said, "What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah, that you should today be adversaries to me? Shall there any man be put to death today in Israel? For don't I know that I am today king over Israel?" 23The king said to Shimei, "You shall not die." The king swore to him.

24Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king; and he had neither groomed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came home in peace.

25When he had come to Jerusalem to meet the king, the king said to him, "Why didn't you go with me, Mephibosheth?" 26He answered, "My lord, O king, my servant deceived me. For your servant said, I will saddle me a donkey, that I may ride on it, and go with the king; because your servant is lame.

27He has slandered your servant to my lord the king; but my lord the king is as an angel of God. Do therefore what is good in your eyes.

28For all my father's house were but dead men before my lord the king; yet you set your servant among those who ate at your own table. What right therefore have I yet that I should cry any more to the king?" 29The king said to him, "Why do you speak any more of your matters? I say, you and Ziba divide the land." 30Mephibosheth said to the king, "Yes, let him take all, because my lord the king has come in peace to his own house." 31Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim; and he went over the Jordan with the king, to conduct him over the Jordan.

32Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even eighty years old: and he had provided the king with sustenance while he lay at Mahanaim; for he was a very great man.

33The king said to Barzillai, "Come over with me, and I will sustain you with me in Jerusalem." 34Barzillai said to the king, "How many are the days of the years of my life, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem?

35I am today eighty years old. Can I discern between good and bad? Can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? Then why should your servant be yet a burden to my lord the king?

36Your servant would but just go over the Jordan with the king. Why should the king repay me with such a reward?

37Please let your servant turn back again, that I may die in my own city, by the grave of my father and my mother. But behold, your servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good to you." 38The king answered, "Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him what shall seem good to you. Whatever you require of me, that I will do for you." 39All the people went over the Jordan, and the king went over. Then the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned to his own place.

Ezra 1:1-2:6

Ezra Chapter 1

1Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of ForeverOne by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, ForeverOne stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and [put it] also in writing, saying, 2"Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, 'ForeverOne, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he has commanded me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

3Whoever there is among you of all his people, may his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of ForeverOne, the God of Israel (he is God), which is in Jerusalem.

4Whoever is left, in any place where he lives, let the men of his place help him with silver, with gold, with goods, and with animals, besides the freewill offering for the house of God which is in Jerusalem.'" 5Then the heads of fathers' [houses] of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, even all whose spirit God had stirred to go up rose up to build the house of ForeverOne which is in Jerusalem.

6All those who were around them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with animals, and with precious things, besides all that was willingly offered.

7Also Cyrus the king brought out the vessels of the house of ForeverOne, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought out of Jerusalem, and had put in the house of his gods; 8even those Cyrus king of Persia brought out by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and counted them to Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.

9This is the number of them: thirty platters of gold, one thousand platters of silver, twenty-nine knives, 10thirty bowls of gold, silver bowls of a second sort four hundred and ten, and other vessels one thousand.

11All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. All these Sheshbazzar brought up, when they of the captivity were brought up from Babylon to Jerusalem.

Ezra Chapter 2

1Now these are the children of the province, who went up out of the captivity of those who had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away to Babylon, and who returned to Jerusalem and Judah, everyone to his city; 2who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum, Baanah. The number of the men of the people of Israel: 3The children of Parosh, two thousand one hundred seventy-two.

4The children of Shephatiah, three hundred seventy-two.

5The children of Arah, seven hundred seventy-five.

6The children of Pahathmoab, of the children of Jeshua [and] Joab, two thousand eight hundred twelve.

Luke 10:21-42

Luke Chapter 10

21In that same hour Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, "I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight." 22Turning to the disciples, he said, "All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is, except the Father, and who the Father is, except the Son, and he to whomever the Son desires to reveal him." 23Turning to the disciples, he said privately, "Blessed are the eyes which see the things that you see, 24for I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which you see, and didn't see them, and to hear the things which you hear, and didn't hear them." 25Behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested him, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" 26He said to him, "What is written in the law? How do you read it?" 27He answered, "You shall love ForeverOne your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself." 28He said to him, "You have answered correctly. Do this, and you will live." 29But he, desiring to justify himself, asked Jesus, "Who is my neighbor?" 30Jesus answered, "A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31By chance a certain priest was going down that way. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32In the same way a Levite also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side.

33But a certain Samaritan, as he traveled, came where he was. When he saw him, he was moved with compassion, 34came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. He set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the host, and said to him, 'Take care of him. Whatever you spend beyond that, I will repay you when I return.' 36Now which of these three do you think seemed to be a neighbor to him who fell among the robbers?" 37He said, "He who showed mercy on him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise." 38As they went on their way, he entered into a certain village, and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

39She had a sister called Mary, who also sat at the Lord's feet, and heard his word.

40But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she came up to him, and said, "Lord, don't you care that my sister left me to serve alone? So ask her to help me." 41The Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42but one thing is needed. Mary has chosen the good part, which will not be taken away from her."
