Genesis 8:1-14

14 verses

Genesis Chapter 8

1God remembered Noah, all the animals, and all the livestock that were with him in the vessel; and God made a wind to pass over the earth. The waters subsided.

2The deep's fountains and the sky's windows were also stopped, and the rain from the sky was restrained.

3The waters continually receded from the earth. After the end of one hundred fifty days the waters decreased.

4The vessel rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on Ararat's mountains.

5The waters receded continually until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were visible.

6At the end of forty days, Noah opened the window of the vessel which he had made, 7and he sent out a raven. It went back and forth, until the waters were dried up from the earth.

8He sent out a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from the surface of the ground, 9but the dove found no place to rest her foot, and she returned into the vessel to him, for the waters were on the surface of the whole earth. He put out his hand, and took her, and brought her to him into the vessel.

10He waited yet another seven days; and again he sent the dove out of the vessel.

11The dove came back to him at evening and, behold, in her mouth was a freshly plucked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the waters were abated from the earth.

12He waited yet another seven days, and sent out the dove; and she didn't return to him any more.

13In the six hundred first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from the earth. Noah removed the covering of the vessel, and looked. He saw that the surface of the ground was dry.

14In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.

Joshua Chapter 10

28Joshua took Makkedah on that day, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with its king. He utterly destroyed them and all the souls who were in it. He left none remaining. He did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho.

29Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, to Libnah, and fought against Libnah.

30ForeverOne delivered it also, with its king, into the hand of Israel. He struck it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls who were in it. He left none remaining in it. He did to its king as he had done to the king of Jericho.

31Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, to Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it.

32ForeverOne delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel. He took it on the second day, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with all the souls who were in it, according to all that he had done to Libnah.

33Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua struck him and his people, until he had left him none remaining.

34Joshua passed from Lachish, and all Israel with him, to Eglon; and they encamped against it and fought against it.

35They took it on that day, and struck it with the edge of the sword. He utterly destroyed all the souls who were in it that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.

36Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, to Hebron; and they fought against it.

37They took it, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with its king and all its cities, and all the souls who were in it. He left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but he utterly destroyed it, and all the souls who were in it.

38Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir, and fought against it.

39He took it, with its king and all its cities. They struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls who were in it. He left none remaining. As he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to its king; as he had done also to Libnah, and to its king.

40So Joshua struck all the land, the hill country, and the South, and the lowland, and the slopes, and all their kings. He left none remaining, but he utterly destroyed all that breathed, as ForeverOne, the God of Israel, commanded.

41Joshua struck them from Kadesh Barnea even to Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even to Gibeon.

42Joshua took all these kings and their land at one time, because ForeverOne, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.

43Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp to Gilgal.

Joshua Chapter 11

1When Jabin king of Hazor heard of it, he sent to Jobab king of Madon, to the king of Shimron, to the king of Achshaph, 2and to the kings who were in the north, in the hill country, in the Arabah south of Chinneroth, in the lowland, and in the heights of Dor on the west, 3to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the hill country, and the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpah.

4They went out, they and all their armies with them, many people, even as the sand that is on the seashore in multitude, with very many horses and chariots.

5All these kings met together; and they came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.

Matthew 8:18-9:8

25 verses

Matthew Chapter 8

18Now when Jesus saw great multitudes around him, he gave the order to depart to the other side.

19A scribe came and said to him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go." 20Jesus said to him, "The foxes have holes and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head." 21Another of his disciples said to him, "Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father." 22But Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead." 23When he got into a boat, his disciples followed him.

24Behold, a violent storm came up on the sea, so much that the boat was covered with the waves; but he was asleep.

25They came to him and woke him up, saying, "Save us, Lord! We are dying!" 26He said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then he got up, rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm.

27The men marveled, saying, "What kind of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?" 28When he came to the other side, into the country of the Gergesenes, two people possessed by demons met him there, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that nobody could pass that way.

29Behold, they cried out, saying, "What do we have to do with you, Jesus, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?" 30Now there was a herd of many pigs feeding far away from them.

31The demons begged him, saying, "If you cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of pigs." 32He said to them, "Go!" They came out, and went into the herd of pigs; and behold, the whole herd of pigs rushed down the cliff into the sea and died in the water.

33Those who fed them fled and went away into the city and told everything, including what happened to those who were possessed with demons.

34Behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus. When they saw him, they begged that he would depart from their borders.

Matthew Chapter 9

1He entered into a boat and crossed over, and came into his own city.

2Behold, they brought to him someone who was paralyzed, lying on a bed. Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, "Son, cheer up! Your sins are forgiven you." 3Behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man blasphemes." 4Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts?

5For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven;' or to say, 'Get up, and walk?' 6But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins- " (then he said to the paralytic), "Get up, and take up your mat, and go to your house." 7He arose and departed to his house.

8But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such authority to men.
