Numbers 1:1-19

19 verses

Numbers Chapter 1

1ForeverOne spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying, 2"Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, every male, one by one; 3from twenty years old and upward, all who are able to go out to war in Israel. You and Aaron shall number them by their divisions.

4With you there shall be a man of every tribe; everyone head of his fathers' house.

5These are the names of the men who shall stand with you: Of Reuben: Elizur the son of Shedeur.

6Of Simeon: Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

7Of Judah: Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

8Of Issachar: Nethanel the son of Zuar.

9Of Zebulun: Eliab the son of Helon.

10Of the children of Joseph: Of Ephraim: Elishama the son of Ammihud. Of Manasseh: Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

11Of Benjamin: Abidan the son of Gideoni.

12Of Dan: Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

13Of Asher: Pagiel the son of Ochran.

14Of Gad: Eliasaph the son of Deuel.

15Of Naphtali: Ahira the son of Enan." 16These are those who were called of the congregation, the princes of the tribes of their fathers; they were the heads of the thousands of Israel.

17Moses and Aaron took these men who are mentioned by name.

18They assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month; and they declared their ancestry by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, one by one.

19As ForeverOne commanded Moses, so he counted them in the wilderness of Sinai.

Jeremiah 3:1-21

21 verses

Jeremiah Chapter 3

1"They say, 'If a man puts away his wife, and she goes from him, and become another man's, will he return to her again?' Wouldn't that land be greatly polluted? But you have played the prostitute with many lovers; yet return again to me," says ForeverOne.

2"Lift up your eyes to the bare heights, and see! Where have you not been lain with? You have sat for them along the roads, as an Arabian in the wilderness. You have polluted the land with your prostitution and with your wickedness.

3Therefore the showers have been withheld, and there has been no latter rain; yet you have a prostitute's forehead, you refused to be ashamed.

4Will you not from this time cry to me, 'My Father, you are the guide of my youth?' 5"'Will he retain [his anger] forever? Will he keep it to the end?' Behold, you have spoken and have done evil things, and have had your way." 6Moreover, ForeverOne said to me in the days of Josiah the king, "Have you seen what backsliding Israel has done? She has gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and there has played the prostitute.

7I said after she had done all these things, 'She will return to me;' but she didn't return; and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.

8I saw, when, for this very cause that backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a bill of divorce, yet treacherous Judah, her sister, didn't fear; but she also went and played the prostitute.

9Through the lightness of her prostitution, the land was polluted, and she committed adultery with stones and with stocks.

10Yet for all this her treacherous sister, Judah, has not returned to me with her whole heart, but only in pretense," says ForeverOne.

11ForeverOne said to me, "Backsliding Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.

12Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, 'Return, you backsliding Israel,' says ForeverOne; 'I will not look in anger on you; for I am merciful,' says ForeverOne. 'I will not keep [anger] forever.

13Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against ForeverOne your God, and have scattered your ways to the strangers under every green tree, and you have not obeyed my voice,' says ForeverOne." 14"Return, backsliding children," says ForeverOne; "for I am married to you. I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion.

15I will give you shepherds according to my heart, who shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

16It shall come to pass, when you are multiplied and increased in the land, in those days," says ForeverOne, "they shall say no more, 'The ark of the covenant of ForeverOne!' neither shall it come to mind; neither shall they remember it; neither shall they miss it; neither shall it be made any more.

17At that time they shall call Jerusalem 'The throne of ForeverOne;' and all the nations shall be gathered to it, to the name of ForeverOne, to Jerusalem. Neither shall they walk any more after the stubbornness of their evil heart.

18In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I gave for an inheritance to your fathers.

19"But I said, 'How I would put you among the children, and give you a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the armies of the nations!' and I said, 'You shall call me "My Father," and shall not turn away from following me.' 20"Surely as a wife treacherously departs from her husband, so you have dealt treacherously with me, house of Israel," says ForeverOne.

21A voice is heard on the bare heights, the weeping [and] the petitions of the children of Israel; because they have perverted their way, they have forgotten ForeverOne their God.

Section 3

Psalm 50

24 verses

Psalm 50

A Psalm by Asaph.

1The-Mighty-One, God, ForeverOne, speaks, and calls the earth from sunrise to sunset.

2Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines out.

3Our God comes, and does not keep silent. A fire devours before him. It is very stormy around him.

4He calls to the heavens above, to the earth, that he may judge his people: 5"Gather my saints together to me, those who have made a covenant with me by sacrifice." 6The heavens shall declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge. Selah.

7"Hear, my people, and I will speak; Israel, and I will testify against you. I am God, your God.

8I don't rebuke you for your sacrifices. Your burnt offerings are continually before me.

9I have no need for a bull from your stall, nor male goats from your pens.

10For every animal of the forest is mine, and the livestock on a thousand hills.

11I know all the birds of the mountains. The wild animals of the field are mine.

12If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it.

13Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?

14Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving. Pay your vows to the Most High.

15Call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will honor me." 16But to the wicked God says, "What right do you have to declare my statutes, that you have taken my covenant on your lips, 17since you hate instruction, and throw my words behind you?

18When you saw a thief, you consented with him, and have participated with adulterers.

19"You give your mouth to evil. Your tongue frames deceit.

20You sit and speak against your brother. You slander your own mother's son.

21You have done these things, and I kept silent. You thought that I was just like you. I will rebuke you, and accuse you in front of your eyes.

22"Now consider this, you who forget God, lest I tear you into pieces, and there be none to deliver.

23Whoever offers the sacrifice of thanksgiving glorifies me, and prepares his way so that I will show God's salvation to him."

Section 4

Romans 2:17-3:8

21 verses

Romans Chapter 2

17Indeed you bear the name of a Jew, rest on the law, glory in God, 18know his will, and approve the things that are excellent, being instructed by the law, 19and are confident that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, 20a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of babies, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth.

21So you who teach another, don't you teach yourself? You who preach that a man shouldn't steal, do you steal?

22You who say a man shouldn't commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?

23You who boast in the law dishonor God by disobeying the law!

24For "the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you," just as it is written.

25For circumcision indeed profits, if you are a doer of the law, but if you are a transgressor of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.

26So if the uncircumcised keep the ordinances of the law, won't his uncircumcision be accounted as circumcision?

27Won't the uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfills the law, judge you, who with the letter and circumcision are a transgressor of the law?

28For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh; 29but he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit not in the letter; whose praise is not from men, but from God.

Romans Chapter 3

1Then what advantage does the Jew have? Or what is the profit of circumcision?

2Much in every way! Because first of all, they were entrusted with the revelations of God.

3For what if some were without faith? Will their lack of faith nullify the faithfulness of God?

4May it never be! Yes, let God be found true, but every man a liar. As it is written, "That you might be justified in your words, and might prevail when you come into judgment." 5But if our unrighteousness commends the righteousness of God, what will we say? Is God unrighteous who inflicts wrath? I speak like men do.

6May it never be! For then how will God judge the world?

7For if the truth of God through my lie abounded to his glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?

8Why not (as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say), "Let's do evil, that good may come?" Those who say so are justly condemned.
