Exodus 23:14-33

Exodus Chapter 23

14"You shall observe a feast to me three times a year.

15You shall observe the feast of unleavened bread. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month Abib (for in it you came out from Egypt), and no one shall appear before me empty-handed.

16And the feast of harvest, the first fruits of your labors, which you sow in the field: and the feast of harvest, at the end of the year, when you gather in your labors out of the field.

17Three times in the year all your males shall appear before the Lord ForeverOne.

18"Do not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread, nor let the fat of my feast remain all night until the morning.

19The first of the first fruits of your ground you shall bring into the house of ForeverOne your God. "Don't boil a young goat in its mother's milk.

20"Behold, I send an angel before you, to keep you on the way, and to bring you into the place which I have prepared.

21Pay attention to him, and listen to his voice. Don't provoke him, for he will not pardon your disobedience, for my name is in him.

22But if you indeed listen to his voice, and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies, and an adversary to your adversaries.

23For my angel shall go before you, and bring you in to the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Canaanite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite; and I will cut them off.

24Don't bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor follow their practices; but you shall utterly overthrow them and demolish their pillars.

25You shall serve ForeverOne your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will take sickness away from your midst.

26No one will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will fulfill the number of your days.

27I will send my terror before you, and will confuse all the people to whom you come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you.

28I will send the hornet before you, which will drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before you.

29I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate, and the animals of the field multiply against you.

30Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased and inherit the land.

31I will set your border from the Red Sea even to the sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the River; for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you.

32You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.

33They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against me, for if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you."

1 Kings 14:11-31

21 verses

1 Kings Chapter 14

11He who dies of Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat; and he who dies in the field shall the birds of the sky eat: for ForeverOne has spoken it."' 12Arise therefore, and go to your house. When your feet enter into the city, the child shall die.

13All Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward ForeverOne, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.

14Moreover ForeverOne will raise him up a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam. This is day! What? Even now.

15For ForeverOne will strike Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their Asherim, provoking ForeverOne to anger.

16He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he has sinned, and with which he has made Israel to sin." 17Jeroboam's wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah. As she came to the threshold of the house, the child died.

18All Israel buried him, and mourned for him, according to the word of ForeverOne, which he spoke by his servant Ahijah the prophet.

19The rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

20The days which Jeroboam reigned were two and twenty years: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his place.

21Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which ForeverOne had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there: and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

22Judah did what was evil in the sight of ForeverOne, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, above all that their fathers had done.

23For they also built them high places, and pillars, and Asherim, on every high hill, and under every green tree; 24and there were also sodomites in the land: they did according to all the abominations of the nations which ForeverOne drove out before the children of Israel.

25In the fifth year of king Rehoboam Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem; 26and he took away the treasures of the house of ForeverOne, and the treasures of the king's house; he even took away all: and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

27King Rehoboam made in their place shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king's house.

28As often as the king went into the house of ForeverOne, the guard bore them, and brought them back into the guard room.

29Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

30There was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

31Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess. Abijam his son reigned in his place.

Nehemiah 8:4-18

Nehemiah Chapter 8

4Ezra the scribe stood on a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Uriah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchijah, and Hashum, and Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, [and] Meshullam.

5Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up: 6and Ezra blessed ForeverOne, the great God. All the people answered, "Amen, Amen," with the lifting up of their hands. They bowed their heads, and worshiped ForeverOne with their faces to the ground.

7Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people [stood] in their place.

8They read in the book, in the law of God, distinctly; and they gave the sense, so that they understood the reading.

9Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites who taught the people, said to all the people, "Today is holy to ForeverOne your God. Don't mourn, nor weep." For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.

10Then he said to them, "Go your way. Eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared; for today is holy to our Lord. Don't be grieved; for the joy of ForeverOne is your strength." 11So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, "Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be grieved." 12All the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared to them.

13On the second day were gathered together the heads of fathers' [houses] of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, to Ezra the scribe, even to give attention to the words of the law.

14They found written in the law, how ForeverOne had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month; 15and that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, "Go out to the mountain, and get olive branches, and branches of wild olive, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written." 16So the people went out, and brought them, and made themselves booths, everyone on the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the broad place of the water gate, and in the broad place of the gate of Ephraim.

17All the assembly of those who had returned from the captivity made booths, and lived in the booths; for since the days of Jeshua the son of Nun to that day the children of Israel had not done so. There was very great gladness.

18Also day by day, from the first day to the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. They kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according to the ordinance.

Luke 24:1-27

Luke Chapter 24

1But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they and some others came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared.

2They found the stone rolled away from the tomb.

3They entered in, and didn't find the Lord Jesus' body.

4While they were greatly perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling clothing.

5Becoming terrified, they bowed their faces down to the earth. They said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead?

6He isn't here, but is risen. Remember what he told you when he was still in Galilee, 7saying that the Son of Man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and the third day rise again?" 8They remembered his words, 9returned from the tomb, and told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.

10Now they were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Mary the mother of James. The other women with them told these things to the apostles.

11These words seemed to them to be nonsense, and they didn't believe them.

12But Peter got up and ran to the tomb. Stooping and looking in, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he departed to his home, wondering what had happened.

13Behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was sixty stadia from Jerusalem.

14They talked with each other about all of these things which had happened.

15While they talked and questioned together, Jesus himself came near, and went with them.

16But their eyes were kept from recognizing him.

17He said to them, "What are you talking about as you walk, and are sad?" 18One of them, named Cleopas, answered him, "Are you the only stranger in Jerusalem who doesn't know the things which have happened there in these days?" 19He said to them, "What things?" They said to him, "The things concerning Jesus, the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people; 20and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him.

21But we were hoping that it was he who would redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened.

22Also, certain women of our group amazed us, having arrived early at the tomb; 23and when they didn't find his body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive.

24Some of us went to the tomb, and found it just like the women had said, but they didn't see him." 25He said to them, "Foolish men, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!

26Didn't the AnointedOne have to suffer these things and to enter into his glory?" 27Beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.
