Leviticus Chapter 24

¹⁷"'He who strikes any man mortally shall surely be put to death.

¹⁸He who strikes an animal mortally shall make it good, life for life.

¹⁹If anyone injures his neighbor; as he has done, so shall it be done to him: ²⁰fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth; as he has injured someone, so shall it be done to him.

²¹He who kills an animal shall make it good; and he who kills a man shall be put to death.

²²You shall have one kind of law, for the foreigner as well as the native-born: for I am ForeverOne your God.'" ²³Moses spoke to the children of Israel; and they brought forward him who had cursed out of the camp, and stoned him with stones. The children of Israel did as ForeverOne commanded Moses.

Leviticus Chapter 25

¹ForeverOne said to Moses in Mount Sinai, ²"Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them, 'When you enter the land which I give you, then the land shall keep a Sabbath to ForeverOne.

³Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard, and gather in its fruits; ⁴but in the seventh year there shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a Sabbath to ForeverOne. Don't sow your field or prune your vineyard.

⁵What grows of itself in your harvest you mustn't reap, and the grapes of your undressed vine you mustn't gather. It shall be a year of solemn rest for the land.

⁶The Sabbath of the land shall be for food for you; for yourself, for your servant, for your maid, for your hired servant, and for your stranger, who lives as a foreigner with you.

⁷For your livestock also, and for the animals that are in your land, shall all its increase be for food.

Isaiah Chapter 57

⁷On a high and lofty mountain you have set your bed; there also you went up to offer sacrifice.

⁸Behind the doors and the posts you have set up your memorial: for you have uncovered to someone besides me, and have gone up; you have enlarged your bed, and made you a covenant with them: you loved their bed where you saw it.

⁹You went to the king with oil, and increased your perfumes, and sent your ambassadors far off, and debased yourself even to Sheol.

¹⁰You were wearied with the length of your way; yet you didn't say, 'It is in vain.' You found a reviving of your strength; therefore you weren't faint.

¹¹"Of whom have you been afraid and in fear, that you lie, and have not remembered me, nor laid it to your heart? Haven't I held my peace even of long time, and you don't fear me?

¹²I will declare your righteousness; and as for your works, they shall not profit you.

¹³When you cry, let those who you have gathered deliver you; but the wind shall take them, a breath shall carry them all away: but he who takes refuge in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain." ¹⁴He will say, "Build up, build up, prepare the way! Remove the stumbling-block out of the way of my people." ¹⁵For thus says the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: "I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also who is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

¹⁶For I will not contend forever, neither will I be always angry; for the spirit would faint before me, and the souls who I have made.

¹⁷For the iniquity of his covetousness was I angry, and struck him; I hid [my face] and was angry; and he went on backsliding in the way of his heart.

¹⁸I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts to him and to his mourners.

¹⁹I create the fruit of the lips: Peace, peace, to him who is far off and to him who is near," says ForeverOne; "and I will heal them." ²⁰But the wicked are like the troubled sea; for it can't rest, and its waters throw up mire and dirt.

²¹"There is no peace," says my God, "for the wicked."

Isaiah Chapter 58

¹"Cry aloud, don't spare, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and declare to my people their disobedience, and to the house of Jacob their sins.

²Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways: as a nation that does right, and doesn't forsake the ordinance of their God, they ask of me righteous judgments. They delight to draw near to God.

³'Why have we fasted,' [say they], 'and you don't see? [why] have we afflicted our soul, and you take no knowledge?' "Behold, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, and exact all your labors.

⁴Behold, you fast for strife and contention, and to strike with the fist of wickedness: you don't fast today so as to make your voice to be heard on high.

⁵Is such the fast that I have chosen? the day for a man to afflict his soul? Is it to bow down his head as a rush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Will you call this a fast, and an acceptable day to ForeverOne?

⁶"Isn't this the fast that I have chosen: to release the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?

⁷Isn't it to distribute your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor who are thrown out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh?

⁸Then your light shall break forth as the morning, and your healing shall spring forth speedily; and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of ForeverOne shall be your rear guard.

⁹Then you shall call, and ForeverOne will answer; you shall cry, and he will say, 'Here I am.' "If you take away from the midst of you the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking wickedly; ¹⁰and if you draw out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul: then your light shall rise in darkness, and your obscurity be as the noonday; ¹¹and ForeverOne will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in dry places, and make strong your bones; and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters don't fail.

¹²Those who shall be of you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

Psalm 37

By David.

¹Don't fret because of evildoers, neither be envious against those who work unrighteousness.

²For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither like the green herb.

³Trust in ForeverOne, and do good. Dwell in the land, and enjoy safe pasture.

⁴Also delight yourself in ForeverOne, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

⁵Commit your way to ForeverOne. Trust also in him, and he will do this: ⁶he will make your righteousness go out as the light, and your justice as the noon day sun.

⁷Rest in ForeverOne, and wait patiently for him. Don't fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen.

⁸Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Don't fret, it leads only to evildoing.

⁹For evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for ForeverOne shall inherit the land.

¹⁰For yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more. Yes, though you look for his place, he isn't there.

¹¹But the humble shall inherit the land, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

¹²The wicked plots against the just, and gnashes at him with his teeth.

¹³LordOfMine will laugh at him, for he sees that his day is coming.

¹⁴The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to throw down the poor and needy, to kill those who are upright in the way.

¹⁵Their sword shall enter into their own heart. Their bows shall be broken.

¹⁶Better is a little that the righteous has, than the abundance of many wicked.

¹⁷For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but ForeverOne upholds the righteous.

¹⁸ForeverOne knows the days of the perfect. Their inheritance shall be forever.

¹⁹They shall not be disappointed in the time of evil. In the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

²⁰But the wicked shall perish. The enemies of ForeverOne shall be like the beauty of the fields. They will vanish - vanish like smoke.

²¹The wicked borrow, and don't pay back, but the righteous give generously.

²²For those who are blessed by him shall inherit the land. Those who are cursed by him shall be cut off.

²³A man's goings are established by ForeverOne. He delights in his way.

²⁴Though he stumble, he shall not fall, for ForeverOne holds him up with his hand.

²⁵I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread.

²⁶All day long he deals graciously, and lends. His offspring is blessed.

²⁷Depart from evil, and do good. Live securely forever.

²⁸For ForeverOne loves justice, and doesn't forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.

²⁹The righteous shall inherit the land, and live in it forever.

³⁰The mouth of the righteous talks of wisdom. His tongue speaks justice.

³¹The law of his God is in his heart. None of his steps shall slide.

³²The wicked watches the righteous, and seeks to kill him.

³³ForeverOne will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

³⁴Wait for ForeverOne, and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land. When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.

³⁵I have seen the wicked in great power, spreading himself like a green tree in its native soil.

³⁶But he passed away, and behold, he was not. Yes, I sought him, but he could not be found.

³⁷Mark the perfect man, and see the upright, for there is a future for the man of peace.

³⁸As for transgressors, they shall be destroyed together. The future of the wicked shall be cut off.

³⁹But the salvation of the righteous is from ForeverOne. He is their stronghold in the time of trouble.

⁴⁰ForeverOne helps them, and rescues them. He rescues them from the wicked, and saves them, Because they have taken refuge in him.

Acts Chapter 24

²⁷But when two years were fulfilled, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus, and desiring to gain favor with the Jews, Felix left Paul in bonds.

Acts Chapter 25

¹So Festus, having entered the province, after three days went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea.

²Then the high priest and the principal men of the Jews informed him against Paul, and they begged him, ³asking a favor against him, that he would summon him to Jerusalem; plotting to kill him on the way.

⁴However Festus answered that Paul should be kept in custody at Caesarea, and that he himself was about to depart shortly.

⁵"So", he said, "let them that are in power among you go down with me, and if there is anything wrong in the man, let them accuse him." ⁶When he had stayed among them more than ten days, he went down to Caesarea, and on the next day he sat on the judgment seat, and commanded Paul to be brought.

⁷When he had come, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him, bringing against him many and grievous charges which they could not prove, ⁸while he said in his defense, "Neither against the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar, have I sinned at all." ⁹But Festus, desiring to gain favor with the Jews, answered Paul and said, "Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem, and be judged by me there concerning these things?" ¹⁰But Paul said, "I am standing before Caesar's judgment seat, where I ought to be tried. I have done no wrong to the Jews, as you also know very well.

¹¹For if I have done wrong and have committed anything worthy of death, I don't refuse to die; but if none of those things is true that they accuse me of, no one can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar!" ¹²Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, "You have appealed to Caesar. To Caesar you shall go."
