1When you go forth to battle against your enemies, and see horses, and chariots, [and] a people more than you, you shall not be afraid of them; for TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) is with you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. 2It shall be, when you draw near to the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak to the people, 3and shall tell them, "Hear, Israel, you draw near this day to battle against your enemies: don't let your heart faint; don't be afraid, nor tremble, neither be scared of them; 4for TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) is he who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you." 5The officers shall speak to the people, saying, "What man is there who has built a new house, and has not dedicated it? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man dedicate it. 6What man is there who has planted a vineyard, and has not used its fruit? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man use its fruit. 7What man is there who has pledged to be married a wife, and has not taken her? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her." 8The officers shall speak further to the people, and they shall say, "What man is there who is fearful and fainthearted? Let him go and return to his house, lest his brother's heart melt as his heart." 9It shall be, when the officers have made an end of speaking to the people, that they shall appoint captains of armies at the head of the people. 10When you draw near to a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace to it. 11It shall be, if it makes you answer of peace, and opens to you, then it shall be, that all the people who are found therein shall become tributary to you, and shall serve you. 12If it will make no peace with you, but will make war against you, then you shall besiege it: 13and when TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) delivers it into your hand, you shall strike every male of it with the edge of the sword: 14but the women, and the little ones, and the livestock, and all that is in the city, even all its spoil, you shall take for a prey to yourself; and you shall eat the spoil of your enemies, which TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) has given you. 15Thus you shall do to all the cities which are very far off from you, which are not of the cities of these nations. 16But of the cities of these peoples, that TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) gives you for an inheritance, you shall save alive nothing that breathes; 17but you shall utterly destroy them: the Hittite, and the Amorite, the Canaanite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite; as TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) has commanded you; 18that they not teach you to do after all their abominations, which they have done to their gods (Elohim) ; so would you sin against TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) . 19When you shall besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, you shall not destroy its trees by wielding an axe against them; for you may eat of them, and you shall not cut them down; for is the tree of the field man, that it should be besieged of you? 20Only the trees of which you know that they are not trees for food, you shall destroy and cut them down; and you shall build bulwarks against the city that makes war with you, until it fall.
14Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so TheIAM (Yahweh) , the God (Elohim) of Armies, will be with you, as you say. 15Hate evil, love good, and establish justice in the courts. It may be that TheIAM (Yahweh) , the God (Elohim) of Armies, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph." 16Therefore thus says TheIAM (Yahweh) , the God (Elohim) of Armies, the Lord (Adonai) : "Wailing will be in all the broad ways; and they will say in all the streets, 'Alas! Alas!' and they will call the farmer to mourning, and those who are skillful in lamentation to wailing. 17In all vineyards there will be wailing; for I will pass through the midst of you," says TheIAM (Yahweh) . 18"Woe to you who desire the day of TheIAM (Yahweh) ! Why do you long for the day of TheIAM (Yahweh) ? It is darkness, and not light. 19As if a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him; Or he went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a snake bit him. 20Won't the day of TheIAM (Yahweh) be darkness, and not light? Even very dark, and no brightness in it? 21I hate, I despise your feasts, and I can't stand your solemn assemblies. 22Yes, though you offer me your burnt offerings and meal offerings, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat animals. 23Take away from me the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps. 24But let justice roll on like rivers, and righteousness like a mighty stream. 25"Did you bring to me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, house of Israel? 26You also carried the tent of your king and the shrine of your images, the star of your gods (Elohim) , which you made for yourselves. 27Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus," says TheIAM (Yahweh) , whose name is the God (Elohim) of Armies.
1Woe to those who are at ease in Zion, and to those who are secure on the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come! 2Go to Calneh, and see; and from there go to Hamath the great; then go down to Gath of the Philistines. are they better than these kingdoms? or is their border greater than your border? 3Those who put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near; 4Who lie on beds of ivory, and stretch themselves on their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall; 5who strum on the strings of a harp; who invent for themselves instruments of music, like David; 6who drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the best oils; but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph. 7Therefore they will now go captive with the first who go captive; and the feasting and lounging will end. 8"The Lord (Adonai) TheIAM (Yahweh) has sworn by himself," says TheIAM (Yahweh) , the God (Elohim) of Armies: "I abhor the pride of Jacob, and detest his fortresses. Therefore I will deliver up the city with all that is in it. 9It will happen, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die. 10"When a man's relative carries him, even he who burns him, to bring bodies out of the house, and asks him who is in the innermost parts of the house, 'Is there yet any with you?' And he says, 'No;' then he will say, 'Hush! Indeed we must not mention the name of TheIAM (Yahweh) .' 11"For, behold, TheIAM (Yahweh) commands, and the great house will be smashed to pieces, and the little house into bits.
1How has the Lord (Adonai) covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in his anger! He has cast down from heaven to the earth the beauty of Israel, And hasn't remembered his footstool in the day of his anger. 2The Lord (Adonai) has swallowed up all the habitations of Jacob, and has not pitied: He has thrown down in his wrath the strongholds of the daughter of Judah; He has brought them down to the ground; he has profaned the kingdom and its princes. 3He has cut off in fierce anger all the horn of Israel; He has drawn back his right hand from before the enemy: He has burned up Jacob like a flaming fire, which devours all around. 4He has bent his bow like an enemy, he has stood with his right hand as an adversary, Has killed all that were pleasant to the eye: In the tent of the daughter of Zion he has poured out his wrath like fire. 5The Lord (Adonai) is become as an enemy, he has swallowed up Israel; He has swallowed up all her palaces, he has destroyed his strongholds; He has multiplied in the daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation. 6He has violently taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of a garden; he has destroyed his place of assembly: TheIAM (Yahweh) has caused solemn assembly and Sabbath to be forgotten in Zion, Has despised in the indignation of his anger the king and the priest. 7The Lord (Adonai) has cast off his altar, he has abhorred his sanctuary; He has given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces: They have made a noise in the house of TheIAM (Yahweh) , as in the day of a solemn assembly. 8TheIAM (Yahweh) has purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion; He has stretched out the line, he has not withdrawn his hand from destroying; He has made the rampart and wall to lament; they languish together. 9Her gates are sunk into the ground; he has destroyed and broken her bars: Her king and her princes are among the nations where the law is not; Yes, her prophets find no vision from TheIAM (Yahweh) . 10The elders of the daughter of Zion sit on the ground, they keep silence; They have cast up dust on their heads; they have clothed themselves with sackcloth: The virgins of Jerusalem hang down their heads to the ground. 11My eyes do fail with tears, my heart is troubled; My liver is poured on the earth, because of the destruction of the daughter of my people, Because the young children and the infants swoon in the streets of the city. 12They tell their mothers, Where is grain and wine? When they swoon as the wounded in the streets of the city, When their soul is poured out into their mothers' bosom. 13What shall I testify to you? what shall I liken to you, daughter of Jerusalem? What shall I compare to you, that I may comfort you, virgin daughter of Zion? For your breach is great like the sea: who can heal you? 14Your prophets have seen for you false and foolish visions; They have not uncovered your iniquity, to bring back your captivity, but have seen for you false oracles and causes of banishment. 15All that pass by clap their hands at you. They hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, [saying], Is this the city that men called The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth? 16All your enemies have opened their mouth wide against you; They hiss and gnash the teeth; they say, We have swallowed her up; Certainly this is the day that we looked for; we have found, we have seen it. 17TheIAM (Yahweh) has done that which he purposed; he has fulfilled his word that he commanded in the days of old; He has thrown down, and has not pitied: He has caused the enemy to rejoice over you; he has exalted the horn of your adversaries. 18Their heart cried to the Lord (Adonai) : wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night; Give yourself no respite; don't let the apple of your eye cease. 19Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches; Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord (Adonai) : Lift up your hands toward him for the life of your young children, that faint for hunger at the head of every street. 20Look, TheIAM (Yahweh) , and see to whom you have done thus! Shall the women eat their fruit, the children that are dandled in the hands? Shall the priest and the prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord (Adonai) ? 21The youth and the old man lie on the ground in the streets; My virgins and my young men are fallen by the sword: You have killed them in the day of your anger; you have slaughtered, [and] not pitied. 22You have called, as in the day of a solemn assembly, my terrors on every side; There was none that escaped or remained in the day of TheIAM (Yahweh) 's anger: Those that I have dandled and brought up has my enemy consumed.
1Dear-ones (Agapetos) , don't believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit who confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3and every spirit who doesn't confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God, and this is the spirit of the Antichrist, of whom you have heard that it comes. Now it is in the world already. 4You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. 5They are of the world. Therefore they speak of the world, and the world hears them. 6We are of God. He who knows God listens to us. He who is not of God doesn't listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. 7Dear-ones (Agapetos) , let us love (Agapeo) one another, for love (Agape) is of God; and everyone who loves (Agapeo) is born of God, and knows God. 8He who doesn't love (Agapeo) doesn't know God, for God is love (Agape) . 9By this God's love (Agape) was revealed in us, that God has sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10In this is love (Agape) , not that we loved (Agapeo) God, but that he loved (Agapeo) us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11Dear-ones (Agapetos) , if God loved (Agapeo) us in this way, we also ought to love (Agapeo) one another. 12No one has seen God at any time. If we love (Agapeo) one another, God remains in us, and his love (Agape) has been perfected in us. 13By this we know that we remain in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as the Savior of the world. 15Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him, and he in God. 16We know and have believed the love (Agape) which God has for us. God is love (Agape) , and he who remains in love (Agape) remains in God, and God remains in him. 17In this love (Agape) has been made perfect among us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as he is, even so are we in this world. 18There is no fear in love (Agape) ; but perfect love (Agape) casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love (Agape) . 19We love (Agapeo) him, because he first loved (Agapeo) us. 20If a man says, "I love (Agapeo) God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who doesn't love (Agapeo) his brother whom he has seen, how can he love (Agapeo) God whom he has not seen? 21This commandment we have from him, that he who loves (Agapeo) God should also love (Agapeo) his brother.
Ooh isn’t it pretty? Well I like it anyway! More seriously the
