1It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to the voice of TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) , to observe to do all his commandments which I command you this day, that TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) will set you on high above all the nations of the earth: 2and all these blessings shall come on you, and overtake you, if you shall listen to the voice of TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) . 3You shall be blessed in the city, and you shall be blessed in the field. 4You shall be blessed in the fruit of your body, the fruit of your ground, the fruit of your animals, the increase of your livestock, and the young of your flock. 5Your basket and your kneading trough shall be blessed. 6You shall be blessed when you come in, and you shall be blessed when you go out. 7TheIAM (Yahweh) will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be struck before you. They will come out against you one way, and will flee before you seven ways. 8TheIAM (Yahweh) will command the blessing on you in your barns, and in all that you put your hand to; and he will bless you in the land which TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) gives you. 9TheIAM (Yahweh) will establish you for a holy people to himself, as he has sworn to you; if you shall keep the commandments of TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) , and walk in his ways. 10All the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of TheIAM (Yahweh) ; and they shall be afraid of you. 11TheIAM (Yahweh) will make you plenteous for good, in the fruit of your body, and in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground, in the land which TheIAM (Yahweh) swore to your fathers to give you. 12TheIAM (Yahweh) will open to you his good treasure in the sky, to give the rain of your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand: and you shall lend to many nations, and you shall not borrow. 13TheIAM (Yahweh) will make you the head, and not the tail; and you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath; if you shall listen to the commandments of TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) , which I command you this day, to observe and to do [them], 14and shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods (Elohim) to serve them. 15But it shall come to pass, if you will not listen to the voice of TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) , to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command you this day, that all these curses shall come on you, and overtake you. 16You shall be cursed in the city, and you shall be cursed in the field. 17Your basket and your kneading trough shall be cursed. 18The fruit of your body, the fruit of your ground, the increase of your livestock, and the young of your flock shall be cursed. 19You shall be cursed when you come in, and you shall be cursed when you go out. 20TheIAM (Yahweh) will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke, in all that you put your hand to do, until you are destroyed, and until you perish quickly; because of the evil of your doings, by which you have forsaken me. 21TheIAM (Yahweh) will make the pestilence cling to you, until he has consumed you from off the land, where you go in to possess it. 22TheIAM (Yahweh) will strike you with consumption, and with fever, and with inflammation, and with fiery heat, and with the sword, and with blight, and with mildew; and they shall pursue (Radaph) you until you perish. 23Your sky that is over your head shall be brass, and the earth that is under you shall be iron. 24TheIAM (Yahweh) will make the rain of your land powder and dust: from the sky shall it come down on you, until you are destroyed. 25TheIAM (Yahweh) will cause you to be struck before your enemies; you shall go out one way against them, and shall flee seven ways before them: and you shall be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth. 26Your dead body shall be food to all birds of the sky, and to the animals of the earth; and there shall be none to frighten them away. 27TheIAM (Yahweh) will strike you with the boil of Egypt, and with the tumors, and with the scurvy, and with the itch, of which you can not be healed. 28TheIAM (Yahweh) will strike you with madness, and with blindness, and with astonishment of heart; 29and you shall grope at noonday, as the blind gropes in darkness, and you shall not prosper in your ways: and you shall be only oppressed and robbed always, and there shall be none to save you. 30You shall betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: you shall build a house, and you shall not dwell therein: you shall plant a vineyard, and shall not use its fruit. 31Your ox shall be slain before your eyes, and you shall not eat of it: your donkey shall be violently taken away from before your face, and shall not be restored to you: your sheep shall be given to your enemies, and you shall have none to save you. 32Your sons and your daughters shall be given to another people; and your eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day: and there shall be nothing in the power (El) of your hand. 33The fruit of your ground, and all your labors, shall a nation which you don't know eat up; and you shall be only oppressed and crushed always; 34so that you shall be mad for the sight of your eyes which you shall see. 35TheIAM (Yahweh) will strike you in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore boil, of which you can not be healed, from the sole of your foot to the crown of your head. 36TheIAM (Yahweh) will bring you, and your king whom you shall set over you, to a nation that you have not known, you nor your fathers; and there you shall serve other gods (Elohim) , wood and stone. 37You shall become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all the peoples where TheIAM (Yahweh) shall lead you away. 38You shall carry much seed out into the field, and shall gather little in; for the locust shall consume it. 39You shall plant vineyards and dress them, but you shall neither drink of the wine, nor gather [the grapes]; for the worm shall eat them. 40You shall have olive trees throughout all your borders, but you shall not anoint yourself with the oil; for your olive shall cast [its fruit]. 41You shall father sons and daughters, but they shall not be yours; for they shall go into captivity. 42All your trees and the fruit of your ground shall the locust possess. 43The foreigner who is in the midst of you shall mount up above you higher and higher; and you shall come down lower and lower. 44He shall lend to you, and you shall not lend to him: he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. 45All these curses shall come on you, and shall pursue (Radaph) you, and overtake you, until you are destroyed; because you didn't listen to the voice of TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) , to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded you: 46and they shall be on you for a sign and for a wonder, and on your seed forever. 47Because you didn't serve TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, by reason of the abundance of all things; 48therefore you shall serve your enemies whom TheIAM (Yahweh) shall send against you, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron on your neck, until he has destroyed you. 49TheIAM (Yahweh) will bring a nation against you from far, from the end of the earth, as the eagle flies; a nation whose language you shall not understand; 50a nation of fierce facial expressions, that shall not respect the person of the old, nor show favor to the young, 51and shall eat the fruit of your livestock, and the fruit of your ground, until you are destroyed; that also shall not leave you grain, new wine, or oil, the increase of your livestock, or the young of your flock, until they have caused you to perish. 52They shall besiege you in all your gates, until your high and fortified walls come down, in which you trusted, throughout all your land; and they shall besiege you in all your gates throughout all your land, which TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) has given you. 53You shall eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of your sons and of your daughters, whom TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) has given you, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemies shall distress you. 54The man who is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children whom he has remaining; 55so that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat, because he has nothing left him, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemy shall distress you in all your gates. 56The tender and delicate woman among you, who would not adventure to set the sole of her foot on the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter, 57and toward her young one who comes out from between her feet, and toward her children whom she shall bear; for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemy shall distress you in your gates. 58If you will not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and fearful name, TheIAM (Yahweh) YOUR God (Elohim) ; 59then TheIAM (Yahweh) will make your plagues wonderful, and the plagues of your seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and severe sicknesses, and of long continuance. 60He will bring on you again all the diseases of Egypt, which you were afraid of; and they shall cling to you. 61Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, TheIAM (Yahweh) will bring them on you, until you are destroyed. 62You shall be left few in number, whereas you were as the stars of the sky for multitude; because you didn't listen to the voice of TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) . 63It shall happen that as TheIAM (Yahweh) rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you, so TheIAM (Yahweh) will rejoice over you to cause you to perish, and to destroy you; and you shall be plucked from off the land where you go in to possess it. 64TheIAM (Yahweh) will scatter you among all peoples, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth; and there you shall serve other gods (Elohim) , which you have not known, you nor your fathers, even wood and stone. 65Among these nations you shall find no ease, and there shall be no rest for the sole of your foot: but TheIAM (Yahweh) will give you there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and pining of soul; 66and your life shall hang in doubt before you; and you shall fear night and day, and shall have no assurance of your life. 67In the morning you shall say, "I wish it were evening!" and at evening you shall say, "I wish it were morning!" for the fear of your heart which you shall fear, and for the sight of your eyes which you shall see. 68TheIAM (Yahweh) will bring you into Egypt again with ships, by the way of which I said to you, You shall see it no more again: and there you shall sell yourselves to your enemies for bondservants and for bondmaids, and no man shall buy you.
12Woe to him who builds a town with blood, and establishes a city by iniquity! 13Behold, isn't it of TheIAM (Yahweh) of Armies that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity? 14For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of TheIAM (Yahweh) , as the waters cover the sea. 15"Woe to him who gives his neighbor drink, pouring your inflaming wine until they are drunk, so that you may gaze at their naked bodies! 16You are filled with shame, and not glory. You will also drink, and be exposed! The cup of TheIAM (Yahweh) 's right hand will come around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory. 17For the violence done to Lebanon will overwhelm you, and the destruction of the animals, which made them afraid; because of men's blood, and for the violence done to the land, to every city and to those who dwell in them. 18"What value does the engraved image have, that its maker has engraved it; the molten image, even the teacher of lies, that he who fashions its form trusts in it, to make mute idols? 19Woe to him who says to the wood, 'Awake!' or to the mute stone, 'Arise!' Shall this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in its midst. 20But TheIAM (Yahweh) is in his holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before him!"
1A prayer of Habakkuk, the prophet, set to victorious music. 2TheIAM (Yahweh) , I have heard of your fame. I stand in awe of your deeds, TheIAM (Yahweh) . Renew your work in the midst of the years. In the midst of the years make it known. In wrath, you remember mercy. 3God (Eloah) came from Teman, the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and his praise filled the earth. 4His splendor is like the sunrise. Rays shine from his hand, where his power is hidden. 5Plague went before him, and pestilence followed his feet. 6He stood, and shook the earth. He looked, and made the nations tremble. The ancient mountains were crumbled. The age-old hills collapsed. His ways are eternal. 7I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction. The dwellings of the land of Midian trembled. 8Was TheIAM (Yahweh) displeased with the rivers? Was your anger against the rivers, or your wrath against the sea, that you rode on your horses, on your chariots of salvation? 9You uncovered your bow. You called for your sworn arrows. Selah. You split the earth with rivers. 10The mountains saw you, and were afraid. The storm of waters passed by. The deep roared and lifted up its hands on high. 11The sun and moon stood still in the sky, at the light of your arrows as they went, at the shining of your glittering spear. 12You marched through the land in wrath. You threshed the nations in anger. 13You went forth for the salvation of your people, for the salvation of your anointed. You crushed the head of the land of wickedness. You stripped them head to foot. Selah. 14You pierced the heads of his warriors with their own spears. They came as a whirlwind to scatter me, gloating as if to devour the wretched in secret. 15You trampled the sea with your horses, churning mighty waters. 16I heard, and my body trembled. My lips quivered at the voice. Rottenness enters into my bones, and I tremble in my place, because I must wait quietly for the day of trouble, for the coming up of the people who invade us. 17For though the fig tree doesn't flourish, nor fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive fails, the fields yield no food; the flocks are cut off from the fold, and there is no herd in the stalls: 18yet I will rejoice in TheIAM (Yahweh) . I will be joyful in the God (Elohim) of my salvation! 19TheIAM (Yahweh) , the Lord (Adonai) , is my strength. He makes my feet like deer's feet, and enables me to go in high places. For the music director, on my stringed instruments.
1Nebuchadnezzar the king, to all the peoples, nations, and languages, who dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you. 2It has seemed good to me to show the signs and wonders that the Most High God (Elah) has worked toward me. 3How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation. 4I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at rest in my house, and flourishing in my palace. 5I saw a dream which made me afraid; and the thoughts on my bed and the visions of my head troubled me. 6Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream. 7Then came in the magicians, the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers; and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known to me its interpretation. 8But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god (Elah) , and in whom is the spirit of the holy God (Elah) : and I told the dream before him, [saying], 9Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy God (Elah) is in you, and no secret troubles you, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and its interpretation. 10Thus were the visions of my head on my bed: I saw, and behold, a tree in the midst of the earth; and its height was great. 11The tree grew, and was strong, and its height reached to the sky, and its sight to the end of all the earth. 12The leaves of it were beautiful, and its fruit much, and in it was food for all: the animals of the field had shadow under it, and the birds of the sky lived in its branches, and all flesh was fed from it. 13I saw in the visions of my head on my bed, and behold, a watcher and a holy one came down from the sky. 14He cried aloud, and said thus, Cut down the tree, and cut off its branches, shake off its leaves, and scatter its fruit: let the animals get away from under it, and the fowls from its branches. 15Nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of the sky: and let his portion be with the animals in the grass of the earth: 16let his heart be changed from man's, and let an animal's heart be given to him; and let seven times pass over him. 17The sentence is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones; to the intent that the living may know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will, and sets up over it the lowest of men. 18This dream I, king Nebuchadnezzar, have seen; and you, Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation, because all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known to me the interpretation; but you are able; for the spirit of the holy God (Elah) is in you. 19Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was stricken mute for a while, and his thoughts troubled him. The king answered, Belteshazzar, don't let the dream, or the interpretation, trouble you. Belteshazzar answered, My lord (Mare) , the dream be to those who hate you, and its interpretation to your adversaries. 20The tree that you saw, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached to the sky, and its sight to all the earth; 21whose leaves were beautiful, and its fruit much, and in it was food for all; under which the animals of the field lived, and on whose branches the birds of the sky had their habitation: 22it is you, O king, that are grown and become strong; for your greatness is grown, and reaches to the sky, and your dominion to the end of the earth. 23Whereas the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from the sky, and saying, Cut down the tree, and destroy it; nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field, and let it be wet with the dew of the sky: and let his portion be with the animals of the field, until seven times pass over him; 24this is the interpretation, O king, and it is the decree of the Most High, which is come on my lord (Mare) the king: 25that you shall be driven from men, and your dwelling shall be with the animals of the field, and you shall be made to eat grass as oxen, and shall be wet with the dew of the sky, and seven times shall pass over you; until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will. 26Whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the roots of the tree; your kingdom shall be sure to you, after that you shall have known that the heavens do rule. 27Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you, and break off your sins by righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if there may be a lengthening of your tranquility. 28All this came on the king Nebuchadnezzar. 29At the end of twelve months he was walking in the royal palace of Babylon. 30The king spoke and said, Is not this great Babylon, which I have built for the royal dwelling place, by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty? 31While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from the sky, [saying], O king Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: The kingdom has departed from you: 32and you shall be driven from men; and your dwelling shall be with the animals of the field; you shall be made to eat grass as oxen; and seven times shall pass over you; until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will. 33The same hour was the thing fulfilled on Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and ate grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the sky, until his hair was grown like eagles' [feathers], and his nails like birds' [claws]. 34At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and I praised and honored him who lives forever; for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom from generation to generation. 35All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; and he does according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand, or ask him, What are you doing? 36At the same time my understanding returned to me; and for the glory of my kingdom, my majesty and brightness returned to me; and my counselors and my lords sought me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent greatness was added to me. 37Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those who walk in pride he is able to abase.
12The fourth angel sounded, and one third of the sun was struck, and one third of the moon, and one third of the stars; so that one third of them would be darkened, and the day wouldn't shine for one third of it, and the night in the same way. 13I saw, and I heard an eagle, flying in mid heaven, saying with a loud voice, "Woe! Woe! Woe for those who dwell on the earth, because of the other voices of the trumpets of the three angels, who are yet to sound!"
1The fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star from the sky which had fallen to the earth. The key to the pit of the abyss was given to him. 2He opened the pit of the abyss, and smoke went up out of the pit, like the smoke from a burning furnace. The sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke from the pit. 3Then out of the smoke came forth locusts on the earth, and power was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4They were told that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree, but only those people who don't have God's seal on their foreheads. 5They were given power not to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion, when it strikes a person. 6In those days people will seek death, and will in no way find it. They will desire to die, and death will flee from them. 7The shapes of the locusts were like horses prepared for war. On their heads were something like golden crowns, and their faces were like people's faces. 8They had hair like women's hair, and their teeth were like those of lions. 9They had breastplates, like breastplates of iron. The sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, or of many horses rushing to war. 10They have tails like those of scorpions, and stings. In their tails they have power to harm men for five months. 11They have over them as king the angel of the abyss. His name in Hebrew is "Abaddon," but in Greek, he has the name "Apollyon." 12The first woe is past. Behold, there are still two woes coming after this. 13The sixth angel sounded. I heard a voice from the horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14saying to the sixth angel who had one trumpet, "Free the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates!" 15The four angels were freed who had been prepared for that hour and day and month and year, so that they might kill one third of mankind. 16The number of the armies of the horsemen was two hundred million. I heard the number of them.
