12When you have made an end of tithing all the tithe of your increase in the third year, which is the year of tithing, then you shall give it to the Levite, to the foreigner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, that they may eat within your gates, and be filled. 13You shall say before TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) , "I have put away the holy things out of my house, and also have given them to the Levite, and to the foreigner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all your commandment which you have commanded me: I have not transgressed any of your commandments, neither have I forgotten them: 14I have not eaten of it in my mourning, neither have I put away of it, being unclean, nor given of it for the dead: I have listened to the voice of TheIAM (Yahweh) my God (Elohim) ; I have done according to all that you have commanded me. 15Look down from your holy habitation, from heaven, and bless your people Israel, and the ground which you have given us, as you swore to our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey." 16This day TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) commands you to do these statutes and ordinances: you shall therefore keep and do them with all your heart, and with all your soul. 17You have declared TheIAM (Yahweh) this day to be your God (Elohim) , and that you would walk in his ways, and keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his ordinances, and listen to his voice: 18and TheIAM (Yahweh) has declared you this day to be a people for his own possession, as he has promised you, and that you should keep all his commandments; 19and to make you high above all nations that he has made, in praise, and in name, and in honor; and that you may be a holy people to TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) , as he has spoken.
1Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, "Keep all the commandment which I command you this day. 2It shall be on the day when you shall pass over the Jordan to the land which TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) gives you, that you shall set yourself up great stones, and plaster them with plaster: 3and you shall write on them all the words of this law, when you have passed over; that you may go in to the land which TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) gives you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as TheIAM (Yahweh) , the God (Elohim) of your fathers, has promised you. 4It shall be, when you have passed over the Jordan, that you shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in Mount Ebal, and you shall plaster them with plaster. 5There you shall build an altar to TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) , an altar of stones: you shall lift up no iron [tool] on them. 6You shall build the altar of TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) of uncut stones; and you shall offer burnt offerings thereon to TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) : 7and you shall sacrifice peace offerings, and shall eat there; and you shall rejoice before TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) . 8You shall write on the stones all the words of this law very plainly."
1An oracle about Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite. 2TheIAM (Yahweh) is a jealous God (El) and avenges. TheIAM (Yahweh) avenges and is master (Baal) of wrath. TheIAM (Yahweh) takes vengeance on his adversaries, and he maintains wrath against his enemies. 3TheIAM (Yahweh) is slow to anger, and great in power, and will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. TheIAM (Yahweh) has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. 4He rebukes the sea, and makes it dry, and dries up all the rivers. Bashan languishes, and Carmel; and the flower of Lebanon languishes. 5The mountains quake before him, and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, yes, the world, and all who dwell in it. 6Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the fierceness of his anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken apart by him. 7TheIAM (Yahweh) is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows those who take refuge in him. 8But with an overflowing flood, he will make a full end of her place, and will pursue (Radaph) his enemies into darkness. 9What do you plot against TheIAM (Yahweh) ? He will make a full end. Affliction won't rise up the second time. 10For entangled like thorns, and drunken as with their drink, they are consumed utterly like dry stubble. 11There is one gone forth out of you, who devises evil against TheIAM (Yahweh) , who counsels wickedness. 12Thus says TheIAM (Yahweh) : "Though they be in full strength, and likewise many, even so they will be cut down, and he shall pass away. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more. 13Now will I break his yoke from off you, and will burst your bonds apart." 14TheIAM (Yahweh) has commanded concerning you: "No more descendants will bear your name. Out of the house of your gods, will I cut off the engraved image and the molten image. I will make your grave, for you are vile." 15Behold, on the mountains the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace! Keep your feasts, Judah! Perform your vows, for the wicked one will no more pass through you. He is utterly cut off.
1He who dashes in pieces has come up against you. Keep the fortress! Watch the way! Strengthen your waist! Fortify your power mightily! 2For TheIAM (Yahweh) restores the excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel; for the destroyers have destroyed them, and ruined their vine branches. 3The shield of his mighty men is made red. The valiant men are in scarlet. The chariots flash with steel in the day of his preparation, and the pine spears are brandished. 4The chariots rage in the streets. They rush back and forth in the broad ways. Their appearance is like torches. They run like the lightnings. 5He summons his picked troops. They stumble on their way. They dash to its wall, and the protective shield is put in place. 6The gates of the rivers are opened, and the palace is dissolved. 7It is decreed: she is uncovered, she is carried away; and her handmaids moan as with the voice of doves, beating on their breasts. 8But Nineveh has been from of old like a pool of water, yet they flee away. "Stop! Stop!" they cry, but no one looks back. 9Take the spoil of silver. Take the spoil of gold, for there is no end of the store, the glory of all goodly furniture. 10She is empty, void, and waste. The heart melts, the knees knock together, their bodies and faces have grown pale. 11Where is the den of the lions, and the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion and the lioness walked, the lion's cubs, and no one made them afraid? 12The lion tore in pieces enough for his cubs, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his caves with the kill, and his dens with prey.
13Then Nebuchadnezzar in [his] rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king. 14Nebuchadnezzar answered them, Is it on purpose, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you don't serve my god (Elah) , nor worship the golden image which I have set up? 15Now if you are ready whenever you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music to fall down and worship the image which I have made, [well]: but if you don't worship, you shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that god (Elah) that shall deliver you out of my hands? 16Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the king, Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. 17If it be [so], our God (Elah) whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. 18But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your god (Elah) , nor worship the golden image which you have set up. 19Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his appearance was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: [therefore] he spoke, and commanded that they should heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated. 20He commanded certain mighty men who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, [and] to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. 21Then these men were bound in their pants, their tunics, and their mantles, and their [other] garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. 22Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. 23These three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. 24Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste: he spoke and said to his counselors, Didn't we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered the king, True, O king. 25He answered, Look, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are unharmed; and the aspect of the fourth is like a son of God (Elah) . 26Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace: he spoke and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you servants of the Most High God (Elah) , come forth, and come here. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came forth out of the midst of the fire. 27The satraps, the deputies, and the governors, and the king's counselors, being gathered together, saw these men, that the fire had no power on their bodies, nor was the hair of their head singed, neither were their pants changed, nor had the smell of fire passed on them.
11I saw, and I heard something like a voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousands of ten thousands, and thousands of thousands; 12saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb who has been killed to receive the power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing!" 13I heard every created thing which is in heaven, on the earth, under the earth, on the sea, and everything in them, saying, "To him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb be the blessing, the honor, the glory, and the dominion, forever and ever! Amen!" 14The four living creatures said, "Amen!" The elders fell down and worshiped.
1I saw that the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying, as with a voice of thunder, "Come and see!" 2And behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow. A crown was given to him, and he came forth conquering, and to conquer. 3When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, "Come!" 4Another came forth, a red horse. To him who sat on it was given power to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another. There was given to him a great sword. 5When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, "Come and see!" And behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a balance in his hand. 6I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, "A choenix of wheat for a denarius, and three choenix of barley for a denarius! Don't damage the oil and the wine!" 7When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the fourth living creature saying, "Come and see!" 8And behold, a pale horse, and he who sat on it, his name was Death. Hades followed with him. Authority over one fourth of the earth, to kill with the sword, with famine, with death, and by the wild animals of the earth was given to him. 9When he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been killed for the Word of God, and for the testimony of the Lamb which they had. 10They cried with a loud voice, saying, "How long, Master (Despotes) , the holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?" 11A long white robe was given to each of them. They were told that they should rest yet for a while, until their fellow servants and their brothers, who would also be killed even as they were, should complete their course.
