1These are the statutes and the ordinances which you shall observe to do in the land which TheIAM (Yahweh) , the God (Elohim) of your fathers, has given you to possess it, all the days that you live on the earth. 2You shall surely destroy all the places in which the nations that you shall dispossess served their gods (Elohim) , on the high mountains, and on the hills, and under every green tree: 3and you shall break down their altars, and dash in pieces their pillars, and burn their Asherim with fire; and you shall cut down the engraved images of their gods (Elohim) ; and you shall destroy their name out of that place. 4You shall not do so to TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) . 5But to the place which TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) shall choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, even to his habitation you shall seek, and there you shall come; 6and there you shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the wave offering of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock: 7and there you shall eat before TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) , and you shall rejoice in all that you put your hand to, you and your households, in which TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) has blessed you. 8You shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatever is right in his own eyes; 9for you haven't yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) gives you. 10But when you go over the Jordan, and dwell in the land which TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) causes you to inherit, and he gives you rest from all your enemies around you, so that you dwell in safety; 11then it shall happen that to the place which TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, there you shall bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the wave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which you vow to TheIAM (Yahweh) . 12You shall rejoice before TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) , you, and your sons, and your daughters, and your male servants, and your female servants, and the Levite who is within your gates, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you. 13Take heed to yourself that you don't offer your burnt offerings in every place that you see; 14but in the place which TheIAM (Yahweh) shall choose in one of your tribes, there you shall offer your burnt offerings, and there you shall do all that I command you. 15Notwithstanding, you may kill and eat flesh within all your gates, after all the desire of your soul, according to the blessing of TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) which he has given you: the unclean and the clean may eat of it, as of the gazelle, and as of the hart. 16Only you shall not eat the blood; you shall pour it out on the earth as water. 17You may not eat within your gates the tithe of your grain, or of your new wine, or of your oil, or the firstborn of your herd or of your flock, nor any of your vows which you vow, nor your freewill offerings, nor the wave offering of your hand; 18but you shall eat them before TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) in the place which TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) shall choose, you, and your son, and your daughter, and your male servant, and your female servant, and the Levite who is within your gates: and you shall rejoice before TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) in all that you put your hand to. 19Take heed to yourself that you don't forsake the Levite as long as you live in your land. 20When TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) shall enlarge your border, as he has promised you, and you shall say, "I want to eat meat," because your soul desires to eat meat; you may eat meat, after all the desire of your soul. 21If the place which TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) shall choose, to put his name there, is too far from you, then you shall kill of your herd and of your flock, which TheIAM (Yahweh) has given you, as I have commanded you; and you may eat within your gates, after all the desire of your soul. 22Even as the gazelle and as the hart is eaten, so you shall eat of it: the unclean and the clean may eat of it alike. 23Only be sure that you don't eat the blood: for the blood is the life; and you shall not eat the life with the flesh. 24You shall not eat it; you shall pour it out on the earth as water. 25You shall not eat it; that it may go well with you, and with your children after you, when you shall do that which is right in the eyes of TheIAM (Yahweh) . 26Only your holy things which you have, and your vows, you shall take, and go to the place which TheIAM (Yahweh) shall choose: 27and you shall offer your burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, on the altar of TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) ; and the blood of your sacrifices shall be poured out on the altar of TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) ; and you shall eat the flesh. 28Observe and hear all these words which I command you, that it may go well with you, and with your children after you forever, when you do that which is good and right in the eyes of TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) . 29When TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) shall cut off the nations from before you, where you go in to dispossess them, and you dispossess them, and dwell in their land; 30take heed to yourself that you not be ensnared to follow them, after that they are destroyed from before you; and that you not inquire after their gods (Elohim) , saying, "How do these nations serve their gods (Elohim) ? I will do likewise." 31You shall not do so to TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) : for every abomination to TheIAM (Yahweh) , which he hates, have they done to their gods (Elohim) ; for even their sons and their daughters do they burn in the fire to their gods (Elohim) . 32Whatever thing I command you, that you shall observe to do: you shall not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
14"Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her. 15I will give her vineyards from there, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope; and she will respond there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt. 16It will be in that day," says TheIAM (Yahweh) , "that you will call me 'my husband,' and no longer call me 'my master.' 17For I will take away the names of the Baals out of her mouth, and they will no longer be mentioned by name. 18In that day I will make a covenant for them with the animals of the field, and with the birds of the sky, and with the creeping things of the ground. I will break the bow, the sword, and the battle out of the land, and will make them lie down safely. 19I will betroth you to me forever. Yes, I will betroth you to me in righteousness, in justice, in loving kindness, and in compassion. 20I will even betroth you to me in faithfulness; and you shall know TheIAM (Yahweh) . 21It will happen in that day, I will respond," says TheIAM (Yahweh) , "I will respond to the heavens, and they will respond to the earth; 22and the earth will respond to the grain, and the new wine, and the oil; and they will respond to Jezreel. 23I will sow her to me in the earth; and I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy; and I will tell those who were not my people, 'You are my people;' and they will say, 'My God (Elohim) !'"
1TheIAM (Yahweh) said to me, "Go again, love a woman loved by another, and an adulteress, even as TheIAM (Yahweh) loves the children of Israel, though they turn to other gods (Elohim) , and love cakes of raisins." 2So I bought her for myself for fifteen pieces of silver and a homer and a half of barley. 3I said to her, "You shall stay with me many days. You shall not play the prostitute, and you shall not be with any other man. I will also be so toward you." 4For the children of Israel shall live many days without king, and without prince, and without sacrifice, and without sacred stone, and without ephod or idols. 5Afterward the children of Israel shall return, and seek TheIAM (Yahweh) their God (Elohim) , and David their king, and shall come with trembling to TheIAM (Yahweh) and to his blessings in the last days.
1Hear the word of TheIAM (Yahweh) , you children of Israel; for TheIAM (Yahweh) has a charge against the inhabitants of the land: "Indeed there is no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God (Elohim) in the land. 2There is cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break boundaries, and bloodshed causes bloodshed. 3Therefore the land will mourn, and everyone who dwells therein will waste away. all living things in her, even the animals of the field and the birds of the sky; yes, the fish of the sea also die. 4"Yet let no man bring a charge, neither let any man accuse; For your people are like those who bring charges against a priest. 5You will stumble in the day, and the prophet will also stumble with you in the night; and I will destroy your mother. 6My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you may be no priest to me. Because you have forgotten your God (Elohim) 's law, I will also forget your children. 7As they were multiplied, so they sinned against me. I will change their glory into shame. 8They feed on the sin of my people, and set their heart on their iniquity. 9It will be, like people, like priest; and I will punish them for their ways, and will repay them for their deeds. 10They will eat, and not have enough. They will play the prostitute, and will not increase; because they have abandoned giving to TheIAM (Yahweh) . 11Prostitution, wine, and new wine take away understanding.
8Better is the end of a thing than its beginning. The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. 9Don't be hasty in your spirit to be angry, for anger rests in the bosom of fools. 10Don't say, "Why were the former days better than these?" For you do not ask wisely about this. 11Wisdom is as good as an inheritance. Yes, it is more excellent for those who see the sun. 12For wisdom is a defense, even as money is a defense; but the excellency of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has (Baal) it. 13Consider the work of God (Elohim) , for who can make that straight, which he has made crooked? 14In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider; yes, God (Elohim) has made the one side by side with the other, to the end that man should not find out anything after him. 15All this have I seen in my days of vanity: there is a righteous man who perishes in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man who lives long in his evildoing. 16Don't be overly righteous, neither make yourself overly wise. Why should you destroy yourself? 17Don't be too wicked, neither be foolish. Why should you die before your time? 18It is good that you should take hold of this. Yes, also from that don't withdraw your hand; for he who fears God (Elohim) will come forth from them all. 19Wisdom is a strength to the wise man more than ten rulers who are in a city. 20Surely there is not a righteous man on earth, who does good and doesn't sin. 21Also don't take heed to all words that are spoken, lest you hear your servant curse you; 22for often your own heart knows that you yourself have likewise cursed others. 23All this have I proved in wisdom. I said, "I will be wise;" but it was far from me. 24That which is, is far off and exceedingly deep. Who can find it out? 25I turned around, and my heart sought to know and to search out, and to seek wisdom and the scheme of things, and to know that wickedness is stupidity, and that foolishness is madness. 26I find more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and traps, whose hands are chains. Whoever pleases God (Elohim) shall escape from her; but the sinner will be ensnared by her. 27"Behold, I have found this," says the Preacher, "one to another, to find out the scheme; 28which my soul still seeks; but I have not found. One man among a thousand have I found; but I have not found a woman among all those. 29Behold, this only have I found: that God (Elohim) made man upright; but they search for many schemes."
1Who is like the wise man? And who knows the interpretation of a thing? A man's wisdom makes his face shine, and the hardness of his face is changed.
1Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming on you. 2Your riches are corrupted and your garments are moth-eaten. 3Your gold and your silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be for a testimony against you, and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up your treasure in the last days. 4Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord (Kurios) of Armies. 5You have lived delicately on the earth, and taken your pleasure. You have nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter. 6You have condemned, you have murdered the righteous one. He doesn't resist you. 7Be patient therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord (Kurios) . Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receives the early and late rain. 8You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord (Kurios) is at hand. 9Don't grumble, brothers, against one another, so that you won't be judged. Behold, the judge stands at the door. 10Take, brothers, for an example of suffering and of patience, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord (Kurios) . 11Behold, we call them blessed who endured. You have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the Lord (Kurios) in the outcome, and how the Lord (Kurios) is full of compassion and mercy. 12But above all things, my brothers, don't swear, neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath; but let your "yes" be "yes," and your "no," "no;" so that you don't fall into hypocrisy. 13Is any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praises. 14Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord (Kurios) , 15and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord (Kurios) will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective. 17Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it didn't rain on the earth for three years and six months. 18He prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth brought forth its fruit. 19Brothers, if any among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, 20let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death, and will cover a multitude of sins.
Ooh isn’t it pretty? Well I like it anyway! More seriously the
