1It happened after the plague, that TheIAM (Yahweh) spoke to Moses and to Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying, 2"Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, by their fathers' houses, all who are able to go forth to war in Israel." 3Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying, 4"[Take a census of the people], from twenty years old and upward; as TheIAM (Yahweh) commanded Moses and the children of Israel." Kohath became the father of Amram. 59The name of Amram's wife was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Egypt: and she bore to Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister. 60To Aaron were born Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. 61Nadab and Abihu died, when they offered strange fire before TheIAM (Yahweh) . 62Those who were numbered of them were twenty-three thousand, every male from a month old and upward: for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Israel. 63These are those who were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho. 64But among these there was not a man of them who were numbered by Moses and Aaron the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai. 65For TheIAM (Yahweh) had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. There was not left a man of them, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
14Then he brought me to the door of the gate of TheIAM (Yahweh) 's house which was toward the north; and see, there sat the women weeping for Tammuz. 15Then he said to me, Have you seen [this], son of man? You shall again see yet greater abominations than these. 16He brought me into the inner court of TheIAM (Yahweh) 's house; and see, at the door of the temple of TheIAM (Yahweh) , between the porch and the altar, were about twenty-five men, with their backs toward the temple of TheIAM (Yahweh) , and their faces toward the east; and they were worshipping the sun toward the east. 17Then he said to me, Have you seen [this], son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have turned again to provoke me to anger: and behold, they put the branch to their nose. 18Therefore will I also deal in wrath; my eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity; and though they cry in my ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.
1Then he cried in my ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause those who are in charge of the city to draw near, every man with his destroying weapon in his hand. 2Behold, six men came from the way of the upper gate, which lies toward the north, every man with his slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man in the midst of them clothed in linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side. They went in, and stood beside the bronze altar. 3The glory of the God (Elohim) of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon it was, to the threshold of the house: and he called to the man clothed in linen, who had the writer's inkhorn by his side. 4TheIAM (Yahweh) said to him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark on the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry over all the abominations that are done in its midst. 5To the others he said in my hearing, Go through the city after him, and strike: don't let your eye spare, neither have pity; 6kill utterly the old man, the young man and the virgin, and little children and women; but don't come near any man on whom is the mark: and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the old men that were before the house. 7He said to them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain. Go forth! They went forth, and struck in the city. 8It happened, while they were smiting, and I was left, that I fell on my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord (Adonai) TheIAM (Yahweh) ! will you destroy all the residue of Israel in your pouring out of your wrath on Jerusalem? 9Then he said to me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perversion: for they say, TheIAM (Yahweh) has forsaken the land, and TheIAM (Yahweh) doesn't see. 10As for me also, my eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity, but I will bring their way on their head. 11Behold, the man clothed in linen, who had the inkhorn by his side, reported the matter, saying, I have done as you have commanded me.
1Then I looked, and see, in the expanse that was over the head of the cherubim there appeared above them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne. 2He spoke to the man clothed in linen, and said, Go in between the whirling [wheels], even under the cherub, and fill both your hands with coals of fire from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city. He went in as I watched. 3Now the cherubim stood on the right side of the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court. 4The glory of TheIAM (Yahweh) mounted up from the cherub, [and stood] over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of TheIAM (Yahweh) 's glory. 5The sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of God (El) Almighty (Shaddai) when he speaks.
For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David. 1TheIAM (Yahweh) , you have searched me, and you know me. 2You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar. 3You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. 4For there is not a word on my tongue, but, behold, TheIAM (Yahweh) , you know it altogether. 5You hem me in behind and before. You laid your hand on me. 6This knowledge is beyond me. It's lofty. I can't attain it. 7Where could I go from your Spirit? Or where could I flee from your presence? 8If I ascend up into heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there! 9If I take the wings of the dawn, and settle in the uttermost parts of the sea; 10Even there your hand will lead me, and your right hand will hold me. 11If I say, "Surely the darkness will overwhelm me; the light around me will be night;" 12even the darkness doesn't hide from you, but the night shines as the day. The darkness is like light to you. 13For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb. 14I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. 15My frame wasn't hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth. 16Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them. 17How precious to me are your thoughts, God (El) ! How vast is the sum of them! 18If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I wake up, I am still with you. 19If only you, God (Eloah) , would kill the wicked. Get away from me, you bloodthirsty men! 20For they speak against you wickedly. Your enemies take your name in vain. 21TheIAM (Yahweh) , don't I hate those who hate you? Am I not grieved with those who rise up against you? 22I hate them with perfect hatred. They have become my enemies. 23Search me, God (El) , and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. 24See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.
22Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord (Kurios) . 23For the husband is the head of the wife, and Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body. 24But as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everything. 25Husbands, love (Agapeo) your wives, even as Christ also loved (Agapeo) the assembly, and gave himself up for it; 26that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, 27that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28Even so husbands also ought to love (Agapeo) their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves (Agapeo) his own wife loves (Agapeo) himself. 29For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord (Kurios) also does the assembly; 30because we are members of his body, of his flesh and bones. 31"For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. The two will become one flesh." 32This mystery is great, but I speak concerning Christ and of the assembly. 33Nevertheless each of you must also love (Agapeo) his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
