1These are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel beyond the Jordan in the wilderness, in the Arabah over against Suph, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab. 2It is eleven days' [journey] from Horeb by the way of Mount Seir to Kadesh Barnea. 3It happened in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spoke to the children of Israel, according to all that TheIAM (Yahweh) had given him in commandment to them; 4after he had struck Sihon the king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, who lived in Ashtaroth, at Edrei. 5Beyond the Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to declare this law, saying, 6"TheIAM (Yahweh) our God (Elohim) spoke to us in Horeb, saying, You have lived long enough in this mountain: 7turn, and take your journey, and go to the hill country of the Amorites, and to all [the places] near there, in the Arabah, in the hill country, and in the lowland, and in the South, and by the seashore, the land of the Canaanites, and Lebanon, as far as the great river, the river Euphrates. 8Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which TheIAM (Yahweh) swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to them and to their seed after them." 9I spoke to you at that time, saying, "I am not able to bear you myself alone: 10TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) has multiplied you, and behold, you are this day as the stars of the sky for multitude. 11TheIAM (Yahweh) , the God (Elohim) of your fathers, make you a thousand times as many as you are, and bless you, as he has promised you! 12How can I myself alone bear your encumbrance, and your burden, and your strife? 13Take wise men of understanding and well known according to your tribes, and I will make them heads over you." 14You answered me, and said, "The thing which you have spoken is good [for us] to do." 15So I took the heads of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, and captains of fifties, and captains of tens, and officers, according to your tribes. 16I commanded your judges at that time, saying, Hear [the causes] between your brothers, and judge righteously between a man and his brother, and the foreigner who is living with him. 17You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small and the great alike; you shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God (Elohim) 's: and the cause that is too hard for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it. 18I commanded you at that time all the things which you should do. 19We traveled from Horeb, and went through all that great and terrible wilderness which you saw, by the way to the hill country of the Amorites, as TheIAM (Yahweh) our God (Elohim) commanded us; and we came to Kadesh Barnea. 20I said to you, "You have come to the hill country of the Amorites, which TheIAM (Yahweh) our God (Elohim) gives to us. 21Behold, TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) has set the land before you: go up, take possession, as TheIAM (Yahweh) , the God (Elohim) of your fathers, has spoken to you; don't be afraid, neither be dismayed." 22You came near to me everyone of you, and said, "Let us send men before us, that they may search the land for us, and bring us word again of the way by which we must go up, and the cities to which we shall come." 23The thing pleased me well; and I took twelve men of you, one man for every tribe: 24and they turned and went up into the hill country, and came to the valley of Eshcol, and spied it out. 25They took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down to us, and brought us word again, and said, "It is a good land which TheIAM (Yahweh) our God (Elohim) gives to us." 26Yet you wouldn't go up, but rebelled against the commandment of TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) : 27and you murmured in your tents, and said, "Because TheIAM (Yahweh) hated us, he has brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us. 28Where are we going up? our brothers have made our heart to melt, saying, 'The people are greater and taller than we; the cities are great and fortified up to the sky; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there.'" 29Then I said to you, "Don't dread, neither be afraid of them. 30TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) who goes before you, he will fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes, 31and in the wilderness, where you have seen how that TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) bore you, as a man does bear his son, in all the way that you went, until you came to this place." 32Yet in this thing you didn't believe TheIAM (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) , 33who went before you in the way, to seek you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to show you by what way you should go, and in the cloud by day. 34TheIAM (Yahweh) heard the voice of your words, and was angry, and swore, saying, 35"Surely not one of these men of this evil generation shall see the good land, which I swore to give to your fathers, 36except Caleb the son of Jephunneh: he shall see it; and to him will I give the land that he has trodden on, and to his children, because he has wholly followed TheIAM (Yahweh) ." 37Also TheIAM (Yahweh) was angry with me for your sakes, saying, "You also shall not go in there: 38Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, he shall go in there: encourage you him; for he shall cause Israel to inherit it. 39Moreover your little ones, whom you said should be a prey, and your children, who this day have no knowledge of good or evil, they shall go in there, and to them will I give it, and they shall possess it. 40But as for you, turn, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea." 41Then you answered and said to me, "We have sinned against TheIAM (Yahweh) , we will go up and fight, according to all that TheIAM (Yahweh) our God (Elohim) commanded us." Every man of you put on his weapons of war, and presumed to go up into the hill country. 42TheIAM (Yahweh) said to me, "Tell them, 'Don't go up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest you be struck before your enemies.'" 43So I spoke to you, and you didn't listen; but you rebelled against the commandment of TheIAM (Yahweh) , and were presumptuous, and went up into the hill country. 44The Amorites, who lived in that hill country, came out against you, and pursued (Radaph) you, as bees do, and beat you down in Seir, even to Hormah. 45You returned and wept before TheIAM (Yahweh) ; but TheIAM (Yahweh) didn't listen to your voice, nor gave ear to you. 46So you stayed in Kadesh many days, according to the days that you stayed [there].
8Therefore thus says the Lord (Adonai) TheIAM (Yahweh) : "Behold, I will bring a sword on you, and will cut off man and animal from you. 9The land of Egypt shall be a desolation and a waste; and they shall know that I am TheIAM (Yahweh) . Because he has said, 'The river is mine, and I have made it;' 10therefore, behold, I am against you, and against your rivers, and I will make the land of Egypt an utter waste and desolation, from the tower of Seveneh even to the border of Ethiopia. 11No foot of man shall pass through it, nor foot of animal shall pass through it, neither shall it be inhabited forty years. 12I will make the land of Egypt a desolation in the midst of the countries that are desolate; and her cities among the cities that are laid waste shall be a desolation forty years; and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries." 13For thus says the Lord (Adonai) TheIAM (Yahweh) : "At the end of forty years will I gather the Egyptians from the peoples where they were scattered; 14and I will bring back the captivity of Egypt, and will cause them to return into the land of Pathros, into the land of their birth; and they shall be there a base kingdom. 15It shall be the base of the kingdoms; neither shall it any more lift itself up above the nations: and I will diminish them, that they shall no more rule over the nations. 16It shall be no more the confidence of the house of Israel, bringing iniquity to memory, when they turn to look after them: and they shall know that I am the Lord (Adonai) TheIAM (Yahweh) ."'" 17It came to pass in the seven and twentieth year, in the first [month], in the first [day] of the month, the word of TheIAM (Yahweh) came to me, saying, 18Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon caused his army to serve a great service against Tyre: every head was made bald, and every shoulder was worn; yet had he no wages, nor his army, from Tyre, for the service that he had served against it. 19Therefore thus says the Lord (Adonai) TheIAM (Yahweh) : Behold, I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and he shall carry off her multitude, and take her spoil, and take her prey; and it shall be the wages for his army. 20I have given him the land of Egypt as his recompense for which he served, because they worked for me, says the Lord (Adonai) TheIAM (Yahweh) . 21In that day will I cause a horn to bud forth to the house of Israel, and I will give you the opening of the mouth in the midst of them; and they shall know that I am TheIAM (Yahweh) .
1The word of TheIAM (Yahweh) came again to me, saying, 2Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord (Adonai) TheIAM (Yahweh) : Wail, Alas for the day! 3For the day is near, even the day of TheIAM (Yahweh) is near; it shall be a day of clouds, a time of the nations. 4A sword shall come on Egypt, and anguish shall be in Ethiopia, when the slain shall fall in Egypt; and they shall take away her multitude, and her foundations shall be broken down. 5Ethiopia, and Put, and Lud, and all the mixed people, and Cub, and the children of the land that is allied with them, shall fall with them by the sword. 6Thus says TheIAM (Yahweh) : They also who uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of her power shall come down: from the tower of Seveneh shall they fall in it by the sword, says the Lord (Adonai) TheIAM (Yahweh) . 7They shall be desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate; and her cities shall be in the midst of the cities that are wasted. 8They shall know that I am TheIAM (Yahweh) , when I have set a fire in Egypt, and all her helpers are destroyed. 9In that day shall messengers go forth from before me in ships to make the careless Ethiopians afraid; and there shall be anguish on them, as in the day of Egypt; for, behold, it comes. 10Thus says the Lord (Adonai) TheIAM (Yahweh) : I will also make the multitude of Egypt to cease, by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. 11He and his people with him, the terrible of the nations, shall be brought in to destroy the land; and they shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with the slain. 12I will make the rivers dry, and will sell the land into the hand of evil men; and I will make the land desolate, and all that is therein, by the hand of strangers: I, TheIAM (Yahweh) , have spoken it.
10Inspired judgments are on the lips of the king. He shall not betray his mouth. 11Honest balances and scales are TheIAM (Yahweh) 's; all the weights in the bag are his work. 12It is an abomination for kings to do wrong, for the throne is established by righteousness. 13Righteous lips are the delight of kings. They value one who speaks the truth. 14The king's wrath is a messenger of death, but a wise man will pacify it. 15In the light of the king's face is life. His favor is like a cloud of the spring rain. 16How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! Yes, to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. 17The highway of the upright is to depart from evil. He who keeps his way preserves his soul. 18Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. 19It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor, than to divide the plunder with the proud. 20He who heeds the Word finds prosperity. Whoever trusts in TheIAM (Yahweh) is blessed. 21The wise in heart shall be called prudent. Pleasantness of the lips promotes instruction. 22Understanding is a fountain of life to one who has (Baal) it, but the punishment of fools is their folly. 23The heart of the wise instructs his mouth, and adds learning to his lips. 24Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. 25There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. 26The appetite of the laboring man labors for him; for his mouth urges him on. 27A worthless man devises mischief. His speech is like a scorching fire. 28A perverse man stirs up strife. A whisperer separates close friends. 29A man of violence entices his neighbor, and leads him in a way that is not good. 30One who winks his eyes to plot perversities, one who compresses his lips, is bent on evil. 31Gray hair is a crown of glory. It is attained by a life of righteousness. 32One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty; one who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city. 33The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from TheIAM (Yahweh) .
1Better is a dry morsel with quietness, than a house full of feasting with strife. 2A servant who deals wisely will rule over a son who causes shame, and shall have a part in the inheritance among the brothers. 3The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold, but TheIAM (Yahweh) tests the hearts. 4An evildoer heeds wicked lips. A liar gives ear to a mischievous tongue. 5Whoever mocks the poor reproaches his Maker. He who is glad at calamity shall not be unpunished.
1But know this, that in the last days, grievous times will come. 2For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3without natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good, 4traitors, headstrong, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; 5holding a form of godliness, but having denied its power. Turn away from these, also. 6For some of these are people who creep into houses, and take captive gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7always learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8Even as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so do these also oppose the truth; men corrupted in mind, who concerning the faith, are rejected. 9But they will proceed no further. For their folly will be evident to all men, as theirs also came to be. 10But you did follow my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love (Agape) , steadfastness, 11persecutions, and sufferings: those things that happened to me at Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. I endured those persecutions. Out of them all the Lord (Kurios) delivered me. 12Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14But you remain in the things which you have learned and have been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them. 15From infancy, you have known the holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus. 16All Scripture is Godbreathed (Theopneustos) and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, 17that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
