1TheIAM (Yahweh) said to Aaron, "You and your sons and your fathers' house with you shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary; and you and your sons with you shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood. 2Your brothers also, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, bring near with you, that they may be joined to you, and minister to you: but you and your sons with you shall be before the tent of the testimony. 3They shall keep your commands, and the duty of all the Tent: only they shall not come near to the vessels of the sanctuary and to the altar, that they not die, neither they, nor you. 4They shall be joined to you, and keep the responsibility of the Tent of Meeting, for all the service of the Tent: and a stranger shall not come near to you. 5"You shall perform the duty of the sanctuary, and the duty of the altar; that there be wrath no more on the children of Israel. 6I, behold, I have taken your brothers the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you they are a gift, given to TheIAM (Yahweh) , to do the service of the Tent of Meeting. 7You and your sons with you shall keep your priesthood for everything of the altar, and for that within the veil; and you shall serve: I give you the priesthood as a service of gift: and the stranger who comes near shall be put to death." 8TheIAM (Yahweh) spoke to Aaron, "I, behold, I have given you the command of my wave offerings, even all the holy things of the children of Israel; to you have I given them by reason of the anointing, and to your sons, as a portion forever. 9This shall be yours of the most holy things, [reserved] from the fire: every offering of theirs, even every meal offering of theirs, and every sin offering of theirs, and every trespass offering of theirs, which they shall render to me, shall be most holy for you and for your sons. 10You shall eat of it like the most holy things. Every male shall eat of it. It shall be holy to you. 11"This is yours, too: the wave offering of their gift, even all the wave offerings of the children of Israel. I have given them to you, and to your sons and to your daughters with you, as a portion forever. Everyone who is clean in your house shall eat of it. 12"All the best of the oil, and all the best of the vintage, and of the grain, the first fruits of them which they give to TheIAM (Yahweh) , to you have I given them. 13The first-ripe fruits of all that is in their land, which they bring to TheIAM (Yahweh) , shall be yours; everyone who is clean in your house shall eat of it. 14"Everything devoted in Israel shall be yours. 15Everything that opens the womb, of all flesh which they offer to TheIAM (Yahweh) , both of man and animal shall be yours: nevertheless you shall surely redeem the firstborn of man, and you shall redeem the firstborn of unclean animals. 16You shall redeem those who are to be redeemed of them from a month old, according to your estimation, for five shekels of money, after the shekel of the sanctuary (the same is twenty gerahs). 17"But you shall not redeem the firstborn of a cow, or the firstborn of a sheep, or the firstborn of a goat. They are holy. You shall sprinkle their blood on the altar, and shall burn their fat for an offering made by fire, for a pleasant aroma to TheIAM (Yahweh) . 18Their flesh shall be yours, as the wave offering breast and as the right thigh, it shall be yours. 19All the wave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer to TheIAM (Yahweh) , have I given you, and your sons and your daughters with you, as a portion forever: it is a covenant of salt forever before TheIAM (Yahweh) to you and to your seed with you." 20TheIAM (Yahweh) said to Aaron, "You shall have no inheritance in their land, neither shall you have any portion among them. I am your portion and your inheritance among the children of Israel. 21"To the children of Levi, behold, I have given all the tithe in Israel for an inheritance, in return for their service which they serve, even the service of the Tent of Meeting. 22Henceforth the children of Israel shall not come near the Tent of Meeting, lest they bear sin, and die. 23But the Levites shall do the service of the Tent of Meeting, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations; and among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance. 24For the tithe of the children of Israel, which they offer as a wave offering to TheIAM (Yahweh) , I have given to the Levites for an inheritance: therefore I have said to them, 'Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.'" 25TheIAM (Yahweh) spoke to Moses, saying, 26"Moreover you shall speak to the Levites, and tell them, 'When you take of the children of Israel the tithe which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then you shall offer up a wave offering of it for TheIAM (Yahweh) , a tithe of the tithe. 27Your wave offering shall be reckoned to you, as though it were the grain of the threshing floor, and as the fullness of the winepress. 28Thus you also shall offer a wave offering to TheIAM (Yahweh) of all your tithes, which you receive of the children of Israel; and of it you shall give TheIAM (Yahweh) 's wave offering to Aaron the priest. 29Out of all your gifts you shall offer every wave offering of TheIAM (Yahweh) , of all its best, even the holy part of it out of it.' 30"Therefore you shall tell them, 'When you heave its best from it, then it shall be reckoned to the Levites as the increase of the threshing floor, and as the increase of the winepress. 31You shall eat it in every place, you and your households: for it is your reward in return for your service in the Tent of Meeting. 32You shall bear no sin by reason of it, when you have heaved from it its best: and you shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel, that you not die.'"
1The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews who lived in the land of Egypt, who lived at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Memphis, and in the country of Pathros, saying, 2Thus says TheIAM (Yahweh) of Armies, the God (Elohim) of Israel: You have seen all the evil that I have brought on Jerusalem, and on all the cities of Judah; and behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwells therein, 3because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, [and] to serve other gods (Elohim) , that they didn't know, neither they, nor you, nor your fathers. 4However I sent to you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Oh, don't do this abominable thing that I hate. 5But they didn't listen, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense to other gods (Elohim) . 6Therefore my wrath and my anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as it is this day. 7Therefore now thus says TheIAM (Yahweh) , the God (Elohim) of Armies, the God (Elohim) of Israel: Why do you commit great evil against your own souls, to cut off from yourselves man and woman, infant and nursing child out of the midst of Judah, to leave yourselves none remaining; 8in that you provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, burning incense to other gods (Elohim) in the land of Egypt, where you have gone to live; that you may be cut off, and that you may be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth? 9Have you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives which they committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem? 10They are not humbled even to this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers. 11Therefore thus says TheIAM (Yahweh) of Armies, the God (Elohim) of Israel: Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, even to cut off all Judah. 12I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to live there, and they shall all be consumed; in the land of Egypt shall they fall; they shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine; they shall die, from the least even to the greatest, by the sword and by the famine; and they shall be an object of horror, [and] an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach. 13For I will punish those who dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence; 14so that none of the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to live there, shall escape or be left, to return into the land of Judah, to which they have a desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return save such as shall escape. 15Then all the men who knew that their wives burned incense to other gods (Elohim) , and all the women who stood by, a great assembly, even all the people who lived in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying, 16As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of TheIAM (Yahweh) , we will not listen to you. 17But we will certainly perform every word that is gone forth out of our mouth, to burn incense to the queen of the sky, and to pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then had we plenty of food, and were well, and saw no evil. 18But since we left off burning incense to the queen of the sky, and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine. 19When we burned incense to the queen of the sky, and poured out drink offerings to her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings to her, without our husbands? 20Then Jeremiah said to all the people, to the men, and to the women, even to all the people who had given him an answer, saying, 21The incense that you burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your fathers, your kings and your princes, and the people of the land, didn't TheIAM (Yahweh) remember them, and didn't it come into his mind? 22so that TheIAM (Yahweh) could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which you have committed; therefore your land has become a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without inhabitant, as it is this day. 23Because you have burned incense, and because you have sinned against TheIAM (Yahweh) , and have not obeyed the voice of TheIAM (Yahweh) , nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil has happened to you, as it is this day. 24Moreover Jeremiah said to all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of TheIAM (Yahweh) , all Judah who are in the land of Egypt: 25Thus says TheIAM (Yahweh) of Armies, the God (Elohim) of Israel, saying, You and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and with your hands have fulfilled it, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of the sky, and to pour out drink offerings to her: establish then your vows, and perform your vows. 26Therefore hear the word of TheIAM (Yahweh) , all Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt: Behold, I have sworn by my great name, says TheIAM (Yahweh) , that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, As the Lord (Adonai) TheIAM (Yahweh) lives. 27Behold, I watch over them for evil, and not for good; and all the men of Judah who are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them. 28Those who escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, few in number; and all the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to live there, shall know whose word shall stand, mine, or theirs. 29This shall be the sign to you, says TheIAM (Yahweh) , that I will punish you in this place, that you may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil: 30Thus says TheIAM (Yahweh) , Behold, I will give Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of those who seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who was his enemy, and sought his life.
A Song. A Psalm by David. 1My heart is steadfast, God (Elohim) . I will sing and I will make music with my soul. 2Wake up, harp and lyre! I will wake up the dawn. 3I will give thanks to you, TheIAM (Yahweh) , among the nations. I will sing praises to you among the peoples. 4For your loving kindness is great above the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the skies. 5Be exalted, God (Elohim) , above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth. 6That your beloved may be delivered, save with your right hand, and answer us. 7God (Elohim) has spoken from his sanctuary: "In triumph, I will divide Shechem, and measure out the valley of Succoth. 8Gilead is mine. Manasseh is mine. Ephraim also is my helmet. Judah is my scepter. 9Moab is my wash pot. I will toss my sandal on Edom. I will shout over Philistia." 10Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who has led me to Edom? 11Haven't you rejected us, God (Elohim) ? You don't go forth, God (Elohim) , with our armies. 12Give us help against the enemy, for the help of man is vain. 13Through God (Elohim) , we will do valiantly. For it is he who will tread down our enemies.
14Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15What agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever? 16What agreement has a temple of God with idols? For you are a temple of the living God. Even as God said, "I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they will be my people." 17Therefore, "'Come out from among them, and be separate,' says the Lord (Kurios) . 'Touch no unclean thing. I will receive you. 18I will be to you a Father. You will be to me sons and daughters,' says the Lord (Kurios) Almighty (Pantokrator) ."
1Having therefore these promises, dear-ones (Agapetos) , let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2Open your hearts to us. We wronged no one. We corrupted no one. We took advantage of no one. 3I say this not to condemn you, for I have said before, that you are in our hearts to die together and live together. 4Great is my boldness of speech toward you. Great is my boasting on your behalf. I am filled with comfort. I overflow with joy in all our affliction. 5For even when we had come into Macedonia, our flesh had no relief, but we were afflicted on every side. Fightings were outside. Fear was inside. 6Nevertheless, he who comforts the lowly, God, comforted us by the coming of Titus; 7and not by his coming only, but also by the comfort with which he was comforted in you, while he told us of your longing, your mourning, and your zeal for me; so that I rejoiced still more. 8For though I made you sorry with my letter, I do not regret it, though I did regret it. For I see that my letter made you sorry, though just for a while. 9I now rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that you were made sorry to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly way, that you might suffer loss by us in nothing. 10For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world works death. 11For behold, this same thing, that you were made sorry in a godly way, what earnest care it worked in you. Yes, what defense, indignation, fear, longing, zeal, and vengeance! In everything you demonstrated yourselves to be pure in the matter.
