1TheIAM (Yahweh) spoke to Moses, saying, 2"Speak to Aaron, and tell him, 'When you light the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the lampstand.'" 3Aaron did so. He lit its lamps to light the area in front of the lampstand, as TheIAM (Yahweh) commanded Moses. 4This was the workmanship of the lampstand, beaten work of gold. From its base to its flowers, it was beaten work: according to the pattern which TheIAM (Yahweh) had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand. 5TheIAM (Yahweh) spoke to Moses, saying, 6"Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them. 7You shall do this to them, to cleanse them: sprinkle the water of cleansing on them, let them shave their whole bodies with a razor, and let them wash their clothes, and cleanse themselves. 8Then let them take a young bull, and its meal offering, fine flour mixed with oil; and another young bull you shall take for a sin offering. 9You shall present the Levites before the Tent of Meeting. You shall assemble the whole congregation of the children of Israel. 10You shall present the Levites before TheIAM (Yahweh) . The children of Israel shall lay their hands on the Levites, 11and Aaron shall offer the Levites before TheIAM (Yahweh) for a wave offering, on the behalf of the children of Israel, that it may be theirs to do the service of TheIAM (Yahweh) . 12"The Levites shall lay their hands on the heads of the bulls, and you shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering to TheIAM (Yahweh) , to make atonement for the Levites. 13You shall set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them as a wave offering to TheIAM (Yahweh) . 14Thus you shall separate the Levites from among the children of Israel, and the Levites shall be mine. 15"After that, the Levites shall go in to do the service of the Tent of Meeting: and you shall cleanse them, and offer them as a wave offering. 16For they are wholly given to me from among the children of Israel; instead of all who open the womb, even the firstborn of all the children of Israel, I have taken them to me. 17For all the firstborn among the children of Israel are mine, both man and animal. On the day that I struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I sanctified them for myself. 18I have taken the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel. 19I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the Tent of Meeting, and to make atonement for the children of Israel; that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come near to the sanctuary." 20Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel did so to the Levites. According to all that TheIAM (Yahweh) commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so the children of Israel did to them. 21The Levites purified themselves from sin, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them for a wave offering before TheIAM (Yahweh) ; and Aaron made atonement for them to cleanse them. 22After that, the Levites went in to do their service in the Tent of Meeting before Aaron, and before his sons: as TheIAM (Yahweh) had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them. 23TheIAM (Yahweh) spoke to Moses, saying, 24"This is that which belongs to the Levites: from twenty-five years old and upward they shall go in to wait on the service in the work of the Tent of Meeting; 25and from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting on the work, and shall serve no more, 26but shall minister with their brothers in the Tent of Meeting, to perform the duty, and shall do no service. You shall do thus to the Levites concerning their duties."
1The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah (the same was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon), 2which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to all the people of Judah, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying: 3From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even to this day, these twenty-three years, the word of TheIAM (Yahweh) has come to me, and I have spoken to you, rising up early and speaking; but you have not listened. 4TheIAM (Yahweh) has sent to you all his servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them (but you have not listened, nor inclined your ear to hear) 5saying, Return now everyone from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that TheIAM (Yahweh) has given to you and to your fathers, from of old and even forevermore; 6and don't go after other gods (Elohim) to serve them or worship them, and don't provoke me to anger with the work of your hands; and I will do you no harm. 7Yet you have not listened to me, says TheIAM (Yahweh) ; that you may provoke me to anger with the work of your hands to your own hurt. 8Therefore thus says TheIAM (Yahweh) of Armies: Because you have not heard my words, 9behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, says TheIAM (Yahweh) , and [I will send] to Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against its inhabitants, and against all these nations around; and I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations. 10Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the lamp. 11This whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years. 12It shall happen, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, says TheIAM (Yahweh) , for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans; and I will make it desolate forever. 13I will bring on that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah has prophesied against all the nations. 14For many nations and great kings shall make bondservants of them, even of them; and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the work of their hands. 15For thus says TheIAM (Yahweh) , the God (Elohim) of Israel, to me: take this cup of the wine of wrath at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send you, to drink it. 16They shall drink, and reel back and forth, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them. 17Then took I the cup at TheIAM (Yahweh) 's hand, and made all the nations to drink, to whom TheIAM (Yahweh) had sent me: 18[to wit], Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and its kings, and its princes, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse, as it is this day; 19Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people; 20and all the mixed people, and all the kings of the land of the Uz, and all the kings of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Gaza, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod; 21Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon; 22and all the kings of Tyre, and all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the isle which is beyond the sea; 23Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all who have the corners [of their hair] cut off; 24and all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mixed people who dwell in the wilderness; 25and all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes; 26and all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the world, which are on the surface of the earth: and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them. 27You shall tell them, Thus says TheIAM (Yahweh) of Armies, the God (Elohim) of Israel: Drink, and be drunk, vomit, fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you. 28It shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at your hand to drink, then you shall tell them, Thus says TheIAM (Yahweh) of Armies: You shall surely drink. 29For, behold, I begin to work evil at the city which is called by my name; and should you be utterly unpunished? You shall not be unpunished; for I will call for a sword on all the inhabitants of the earth, says TheIAM (Yahweh) of Armies. 30Therefore prophesy you against them all these words, and tell them, TheIAM (Yahweh) will roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he will mightily roar against his fold; he will give a shout, as those who tread [the grapes], against all the inhabitants of the earth. 31A noise shall come even to the end of the earth; for TheIAM (Yahweh) has a controversy with the nations; he will enter into judgment with all flesh: as for the wicked, he will give them to the sword, says TheIAM (Yahweh) . 32Thus says TheIAM (Yahweh) of Armies, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great storm shall be raised up from the uttermost parts of the earth. 33The slain of TheIAM (Yahweh) shall be at that day from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung on the surface of the ground. 34Wail, you shepherds, and cry; and wallow [in ashes], you principal of the flock; for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are fully come, and you shall fall like a goodly vessel. 35The shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the principal of the flock to escape. 36A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and the wailing of the principal of the flock! for TheIAM (Yahweh) lays waste their pasture. 37The peaceable folds are brought to silence because of the fierce anger of TheIAM (Yahweh) . 38He has left his covert, as the lion; for their land is become an astonishment because of the fierceness of the oppressing [sword], and because of his fierce anger.
For the Chief Musician. To the tune of "The Lilies of the Covenant." A Psalm by Asaph. 1Hear us, Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock, you who sit above the cherubim, shine forth. 2Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up your might! Come to save us! 3Turn us again, God (Elohim) . Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved. 4TheIAM (Yahweh) God (Elohim) of Armies, How long will you be angry against the prayer of your people? 5You have fed them with the bread of tears, and given them tears to drink in large measure. 6You make us a source of contention to our neighbors. Our enemies laugh among themselves. 7Turn us again, God (Elohim) of Armies. Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved. 8You brought a vine out of Egypt. You drove out the nations, and planted it. 9You cleared the ground for it. It took deep root, and filled the land. 10The mountains were covered with its shadow. Its boughs were like God (El) 's cedars. 11It sent out its branches to the sea, Its shoots to the River. 12Why have you broken down its walls, so that all those who pass by the way pluck it? 13The boar out of the wood ravages it. The wild animals of the field feed on it. 14Turn again, we beg you, God (Elohim) of Armies. Look down from heaven, and see, and visit this vine, 15the stock which your right hand planted, the branch that you made strong for yourself. 16It's burned with fire. It's cut down. They perish at your rebuke. 17Let your hand be on the man of your right hand, on the son of man whom you made strong for yourself. 18So we will not turn away from you. Revive us, and we will call on your name. 19Turn us again, TheIAM (Yahweh) God (Elohim) of Armies. Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.
1It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles, that one has his father's wife. 2You are puffed up, and didn't rather mourn, that he who had done this deed might be removed from among you. 3For I most certainly, as being absent in body but present in spirit, have already, as though I were present, judged him who has done this thing. 4In the name of our Lord (Kurios) Jesus Christ, you being gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord (Kurios) Jesus Christ, 5are to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord (Kurios) Jesus. 6Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast leavens the whole lump? 7Purge out the old yeast, that you may be a new lump, even as you are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, has been sacrificed in our place. 8Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old yeast, neither with the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 9I wrote to you in my letter to have no company with sexual sinners; 10yet not at all meaning with the sexual sinners of this world, or with the covetous and extortioners, or with idolaters; for then you would have to leave the world. 11But as it is, I wrote to you not to associate with anyone who is called a brother who is a sexual sinner, or covetous, or an idolater, or a slanderer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner. Don't even eat with such a person. 12For what have I to do with also judging those who are outside? Don't you judge those who are within? 13But those who are outside, God judges. "Put away the wicked man from among yourselves."
1Dare any of you, having a matter against his neighbor, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? 2Don't you know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3Don't you know that we will judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life? 4If then, you have to judge things pertaining to this life, do you set them to judge who are of no account in the assembly? 5I say this to move you to shame. Isn't there even one wise man among you who would be able to decide between his brothers? 6But brother goes to law with brother, and that before unbelievers! 7Therefore it is already altogether a defect in you, that you have lawsuits one with another. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded? 8No, but you yourselves do wrong, and defraud, and that against your brothers. 9Or don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God. 11Such were some of you, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord (Kurios) Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God.
