1TheIAM (Yahweh) spoke to Moses, saying, 2"Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them: 'When either man or woman shall make a special vow, the vow of a Nazirite, to separate himself to TheIAM (Yahweh) , 3he shall separate himself from wine and strong drink. He shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of fermented drink, neither shall he drink any juice of grapes, nor eat fresh grapes or dried. 4All the days of his separation he shall eat nothing that is made of the grapevine, from the seeds even to the skins. 5"'All the days of his vow of separation no razor shall come on his head, until the days are fulfilled, in which he separates himself to TheIAM (Yahweh) . He shall be holy. He shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow long. 6"'All the days that he separates himself to TheIAM (Yahweh) he shall not go near a dead body. 7He shall not make himself unclean for his father, or for his mother, for his brother, or for his sister, when they die; because his separation to God (Elohim) is on his head. 8All the days of his separation he is holy to TheIAM (Yahweh) . 9"'If any man dies very suddenly beside him, and he defiles the head of his separation; then he shall shave his head in the day of his cleansing. On the seventh day he shall shave it. 10On the eighth day he shall bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons to the priest, to the door of the Tent of Meeting. 11The priest shall offer one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, and make atonement for him, because he sinned by reason of the dead, and shall make his head holy that same day. 12He shall separate to TheIAM (Yahweh) the days of his separation, and shall bring a male lamb a year old for a trespass offering; but the former days shall be void, because his separation was defiled. 13"'This is the law of the Nazirite: when the days of his separation are fulfilled, he shall be brought to the door of the Tent of Meeting, 14and he shall offer his offering to TheIAM (Yahweh) , one male lamb a year old without blemish for a burnt offering, and one ewe lamb a year old without blemish for a sin offering, and one ram without blemish for peace offerings, 15and a basket of unleavened bread, cakes of fine flour mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with oil, and their meal offering, and their drink offerings. 16The priest shall present them before TheIAM (Yahweh) , and shall offer his sin offering, and his burnt offering. 17He shall offer the ram for a sacrifice of peace offerings to TheIAM (Yahweh) , with the basket of unleavened bread. The priest shall offer also its meal offering, and its drink offering. 18The Nazirite shall shave the head of his separation at the door of the Tent of Meeting, and shall take the hair of the head of his separation, and put it on the fire which is under the sacrifice of peace offerings. 19The priest shall take the boiled shoulder of the ram, and one unleavened cake out of the basket, and one unleavened wafer, and shall put them on the hands of the Nazirite, after he has shaved the head of his separation; 20and the priest shall wave them for a wave offering before TheIAM (Yahweh) . This is holy for the priest, together with the breast that is waved and the thigh that is offered. After that the Nazirite may drink wine. 21"'This is the law of the Nazirite who vows, and of his offering to TheIAM (Yahweh) for his separation, besides that which he is able to get. According to his vow which he vows, so he must do after the law of his separation.'" 22TheIAM (Yahweh) spoke to Moses, saying, 23"Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, 'This is how you shall bless the children of Israel.' You shall tell them, 24'TheIAM (Yahweh) bless you, and keep you. 25TheIAM (Yahweh) make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. 26TheIAM (Yahweh) lift up his face toward you, and give you peace.' 27"So they shall put my name on the children of Israel; and I will bless them."
9At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it; 10if they do that which is evil in my sight, that they not obey my voice, then I will repent of the good, with which I said I would benefit them. 11Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus says TheIAM (Yahweh) : Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return you now everyone from his evil way, and amend your ways and your doings. 12But they say, It is in vain; for we will walk after our own devices, and we will do everyone after the stubbornness of his evil heart. 13Therefore thus says TheIAM (Yahweh) : Ask now among the nations, who has heard such things; the virgin of Israel has done a very horrible thing. 14Shall the snow of Lebanon fail from the rock of the field? [or] shall the cold waters that flow down from afar be dried up? 15For my people have forgotten me, they have burned incense to false [gods]; and they have been made to stumble in their ways, in the ancient paths, to walk in byways, in a way not built up; 16to make their land an astonishment, and a perpetual hissing; everyone who passes thereby shall be astonished, and shake his head. 17I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will show them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity. 18Then they said, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us strike him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words. 19Give heed to me, TheIAM (Yahweh) , and listen to the voice of those who contend with me. 20Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before you to speak good for them, to turn away your wrath from them. 21Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and give them over to the power of the sword; and let their wives become childless, and widows; and let their men be slain of death, [and] their young men struck of the sword in battle. 22Let a cry be heard from their houses, when you shall bring a troop suddenly on them; for they have dug a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet. 23Yet, TheIAM (Yahweh) , you know all their counsel against me to kill me; don't forgive their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from your sight; but let them be overthrown before you; deal you with them in the time of your anger.
1Thus said TheIAM (Yahweh) , Go, and buy a potter's earthen bottle, and [take] of the elders of the people, and of the elders of the priests; 2and go forth to the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the gate Harsith, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell you; 3and say, Hear the word of TheIAM (Yahweh) , kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem: thus says TheIAM (Yahweh) of Armies, the God (Elohim) of Israel, Behold, I will bring evil on this place, which whoever hears, his ears shall tingle. 4Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it to other gods (Elohim) , that they didn't know, they and their fathers and the kings of Judah; and have filled this place with the blood of innocents, 5and have built the high places of Baal, to burn their sons in the fire for burnt offerings to Baal; which I didn't command, nor spoke it, neither came it into my mind: 6therefore, behold, the days come, says TheIAM (Yahweh) , that this place shall no more be called Topheth, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of Slaughter. 7I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of those who seek their life: and their dead bodies will I give to be food for the birds of the sky, and for the animals of the earth. 8I will make this city an astonishment, and a hissing; everyone who passes thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all its plagues. 9I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters; and they shall eat everyone the flesh of his friend, in the siege and in the distress, with which their enemies, and those who seek their life, shall distress them.
A contemplation by Asaph. 1God (Elohim) , why have you rejected us forever? Why does your anger smolder against the sheep of your pasture? 2Remember your congregation, which you purchased of old, which you have redeemed to be the tribe of your inheritance; Mount Zion, in which you have lived. 3Lift up your feet to the perpetual ruins, all the evil that the enemy has done in the sanctuary. 4Your adversaries have roared in the midst of your assembly. They have set up their standards as signs. 5They behaved like men wielding axes, cutting through a thicket of trees. 6Now they break all its carved work down with hatchet and hammers. 7They have burned your sanctuary to the ground. They have profaned the dwelling place of your Name. 8They said in their heart, "We will crush them completely." They have burned up all the places in the land where God (El) was worshiped. 9We see no miraculous signs. There is no longer any prophet, neither is there among us anyone who knows how long. 10How long, God (Elohim) , shall the adversary reproach? Shall the enemy blaspheme your name forever? 11Why do you draw back your hand, even your right hand? Take it out of your pocket and consume them! 12Yet God (Elohim) is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth. 13You divided the sea by your strength. You broke the heads of the sea monsters in the waters. 14You broke the heads of Leviathan in pieces. You gave him as food to people and desert creatures. 15You opened up spring and stream. You dried up mighty rivers. 16The day is yours, the night is also yours. You have prepared the light and the sun. 17You have set all the boundaries of the earth. You have made summer and winter. 18Remember this, that the enemy has mocked you, TheIAM (Yahweh) . Foolish people have blasphemed your name. 19Don't deliver the soul of your dove to wild beasts. Don't forget the life of your poor forever. 20Honor your covenant, for haunts of violence fill the dark places of the earth. 21Don't let the oppressed return ashamed. Let the poor and needy praise your name. 22Arise, God (Elohim) ! Plead your own cause. Remember how the foolish man mocks you all day. 23Don't forget the voice of your adversaries. The tumult of those who rise up against you ascends continually.
1Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2Let each one of us please his neighbor for that which is good, to be building him up. 3For even Christ didn't please himself. But, as it is written, "The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me." 4For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that through patience and through encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. 5Now the God of patience and of encouragement grant you to be of the same mind one with another according to Christ Jesus, 6that with one accord you may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord (Kurios) Jesus Christ. 7Therefore accept one another, even as Christ also accepted you, to the glory of God. 8Now I say that Christ has been made a servant of the circumcision for the truth of God, that he might confirm the promises given to the fathers, 9and that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written, "Therefore will I give praise to you among the Gentiles, and sing to your name." 10Again he says, "Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people." 11Again, "Praise the Lord (Kurios) , all you Gentiles! Let all the peoples praise him." 12Again, Isaiah says, "There will be the root of Jesse, he who arises to rule over the Gentiles; in him the Gentiles will hope." 13Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit. 14I myself am also persuaded about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish others. 15But I write the more boldly to you in part, as reminding you, because of the grace that was given to me by God, 16that I should be a servant of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, serving as a priest the Good News of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be made acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. 17I have therefore my boasting in Christ Jesus in things pertaining to God. 18For I will not dare to speak of any things except those which Christ worked through me, for the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed, 19in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of God's Spirit; so that from Jerusalem, and around as far as to Illyricum, I have fully preached the Good News of Christ; 20yes, making it my aim to preach the Good News, not where Christ was already named, that I might not build on another's foundation. 21But, as it is written, "They will see, to whom no news of him came. They who haven't heard will understand." 22Therefore also I was hindered these many times from coming to you, 23but now, no longer having any place in these regions, and having these many years a longing to come to you, 24whenever I journey to Spain, I will come to you. For I hope to see you on my journey, and to be helped on my way there by you, if first I may enjoy your company for a while. 25But now, I say, I am going to Jerusalem, serving the saints. 26For it has been the good pleasure of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints who are at Jerusalem. 27Yes, it has been their good pleasure, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, they owe it to them also to serve them in fleshly things. 28When therefore I have accomplished this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will go on by way of you to Spain. 29I know that, when I come to you, I will come in the fullness of the blessing of the Good News of Christ. 30Now I beg you, brothers, by our Lord (Kurios) Jesus Christ, and by the love (Agape) of the Spirit, that you strive together with me in your prayers to God for me, 31that I may be delivered from those who are disobedient in Judea, and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints; 32that I may come to you in joy through the will of God, and together with you, find rest. 33Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
Ooh isn’t it pretty? Well I like it anyway! More seriously the
